Fantastic experience: Jeev did an excellent job , exactly what i requested!

Fantastic experience: Skyler was great, super chill and approachable. I usually wear hats because I’m never quite satisfied with my haircut, but after he cut my hair I don’t feel the need to wear one anymore. He made suggestions to make what I was asking for look better and it turned out great. When the website says he “specializes in modern medium-length styles that are practical and easy to maintain” they mean it.

Fantastic experience: Another shop did a poor job of a mohawk and my son was super disappointed. Michael did an amazing job fixing it up quick and giving me some tips on the perfect mohawk. The Starwars memorabilia and Mario Kart was an awesome touch for us. My son left so much happier. Definitely going to be a repeat customer! Thank you!

Positive experience: Guess my expectations were a bit too high after reading all the good reviews. I got a haircut yesterday and asked for a scissor cut. I was just hoping for a light maintenance trim on the side as i was trying to grow my hair out into a curtain-style look. I even showed a photo for reference, so I’m not sure if it was a miscommunication or lack of familiarity with that style. Long story short, the result turned out shorter and flatter than I wanted. It’s not the worst cut, but definitely far from what I had in mind. The barber did take his time tho, which I appreciated, not sure if he just wasn’t used to the kind of style I asked for. They do seem pretty skilled with more traditional or regular clean haircuts. I even gave a good amount of tip which in hindsight felt a bit much given the result. I'd honestly rate this lower out of my frustration and dissapointment but the owner clearly cares about their business, so I’ll just trust the process and hope it grows out fine. P.S. Not sure if he just wasn’t in the mood that time, but my barber didn’t seem very approachable compared to the others, which made the overall experience feel a bit poor.

Fantastic experience: I took my Boyfriend for an haircut and it was best haircut he had in a long time. Sandy was really amazing he listened to what my boyfriend wanted and delivered a perfect cut. Will definitely be back.

Negative experience: Came here for a haircut a year ago. It was around 1 hour before the shop was closing. They were able to get me in. I showed the guy photos of the haircut I wanted, and he pretty much chopped me. Worst fade I’ve ever had and it was very uneven after closely looking. At the time of walking out I couldn’t tell because I was rushed out a bit, until after when I took a camera and my partner took photos of the back and sides. It was probably the worst haircut I’ve ever gotten. My first time stepping foot into this shop as well. I remember the guy telling me usually people come in and just get a 2 guard. Like I’m supposed to know exactly what that means when it comes to haircuts and I was not at all educated enough before. The owner is nice, and the environment is really chill but the haircut was bad and I realistically won’t be back

Fantastic experience: Accidentally gave myself a bald spot when I was cutting my hair. I stop by for an emergency haircut and Matt gives me a nice fade to mullet to blend it in perfectly. Amazing customer service, amazing haircut, and I got the cut for free. Love this place

Positive experience: Its the Local Barber, which is great. In addition, A few of my family members have been there, and i still take my 85 yo Uncle there who has dementia, and is hard of hearing. Everyone has been very patient with him. It’s first come first serve, and the waiting area is spacious. There is a room off to the side geared towards the young and young at heart with video games, so Ive seen Dads bring all the kids, and everyone leaves happy. Its old school cheap and cheerful, and excellent value right at the Oaklands Junction.

Fantastic experience: Deep at Rebellion Barbershop has been my go to from last couple visits. He’s very professional and thorough with his hair cutting skills. It seems like he joined recently but he’s catching up pretty quick and makes sure that he delivers what his clients need without compromising the quality. All the other barbers are also just amazing there. Keep it up Deep!!

Negative experience: The worst haircut ever, and the manager Michael was extremely rude and disrespectful. I showed him my last haircut that I would like to use as a reference and he said straight way that my haircut was completely wrong and that he would never allow no-one in his barbershop to do that kind of thing, and also said that the guy that did the job had no idea what he was doing. Also they cut your hair facing you opposite to the mirror, so you just can see your hair as the job is done, so they turn the chair facing the mirror again He cut my hair in a way nobody managed to do before, the worse. The problem started when I said that it wasn't exactly what I had picture it. It was like I was committing a crime to say something about his cut, he was like, I know what Im doing..and blablabla.. Awkward!!! If anyone is thinking about going there, please don't cut with the manager. I don't know about his employees.

Fantastic experience: Been coming to Rebellion for a while and usually get good cuts. Unfortunately, yesterday I came in for a haircut and was pretty dissatisfied with the cut I was given. My barber was very kind and professional but I just think there was a bit of a miscommunication with what I wanted. This morning I called the shop and they said they’d be happy to fix it. Karen assisted me when I came back in and she was super helpful and understanding and did a great job fixing my hair. In the end I was super happy with the haircut! Will keep on returning!

Fantastic experience: I have been here a couple of times, considering it's close to my house. It's 30$ for a haircut and the staff is good. Jeev gets my haircuts as I'd ask him to. And I'm pretty satisfied with the haircuts I've had here. Additionally, the ambience is pretty cool and they even have Mario cart to play for the waiting zone members!

Fantastic experience: Came in today with a bit of an odd request and Micheal was more than happy/qualified to take care of me. Wanted a bit of a gimmick haircut for an event and ended up leaving with a haircut I really like and worked perfectly, and if that wasn’t good enough already he didn’t even charge me. 10/10 would recommend and will be returning in the future. Micheal is the man!

Fantastic experience: I had a lovely experience at Rebellion today. Jeev is an amazing barber—combining talent with a laid-back vibe that makes the whole visit relaxing and enjoyable. Not to be an absolutist, but it was the best cut I've ever had. On top of that, the shop owner shared a bread recipe with me that’s become a game-changer—takes just 5 minutes to make, and it’s the best bread I’ve had in a long while. Of course, right when I’ve been trying to limit my breads and muffins, I’m left wondering, “What is gluten?” Check this place out ~

I wasn’t familiar with hairstyle terms, but he understood what I wanted and explained the different styles and lengths he used. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. If you’re unsure about trendy haircuts/haircut terminologies, I highly recommend Jeev. Also, this was my first haircut at this place and it was completely free as part of their February 2025 promotion.

Fantastic experience: i discovered rebellion through their february promotion and decided to give them a shot (victoria/pandora avenue location). i walked in and only had to wait maybe 15 minutes at most, despite every barber already having a client when i showed up. my hair was cut by Zoa and he did an amazing job! he was friendly, welcoming, listened to my requests and gave incredibly helpful advice/insight. he clearly knew what he was doing. 10/10 would recommend this place, and i’m definitely going to be back!

Fantastic experience: Was scrolling through Instagram and saw an ad that these fine folks were doing free haircuts. Being one not to pass up a good deal I googled my closest location and found that the location in Saanichton was quickest to get to. Got there no line up, Josh was very kind, courteous, welcoming, and even though it was just the two of us it felt like I was just hanging and talking to a buddy who I hadn't seen in awhile. 10/10 would recommend. Great atmosphere, friendly faces, and quality haircuts what more can one ask for oh wait that's right tons of free parking!!!

Fantastic experience: This has been my go to barbershop since they reopened after the lockdown. Regardless of barber I have always walked away happier than every place in Colwood I've cheated on them with. Its worth the drive! Jeev has been been keeping my fade fresh for all of life's events recently, and has great service vibes. He is passionate about his work and efficient. I am always getting compliments after! They have good prices, no reservations, FCFS, cash only and good beats.

Negative experience: Lives up to their name—truly rebellious. I provided clear instructions on length and style, even showed reference photos, but the barber was dismissive and abrasive, insisting that what I wanted wasn’t what I described. Fine, just follow the photo then? Nope. They did whatever they wanted instead. What’s especially frustrating is that I anticipated their style and clearly stated what not to do. Yet, when I brought it up, they dismissed my concerns like it was “obvious” and then proceeded to do the exact opposite. I should’ve known, though—everyone I saw leaving had the same haircut. You’d think they’d at least be good at this style if it’s the only one they do, but even that was subpar. I don’t care too much since hair grows back, but I’m leaving this review so others know the high rating is misleading. The cut quality is equivalent to a fresh cuts with some abrasive dude instead of a friendly old lady. 0/5 listening skills 5/5 autopilot

Fantastic experience: We took our boys who are 3 & 6 for their first professional haircuts. They did so well! Josh the barber made them feel at ease, and did an amazing job on their curly hair! Highly recommend Josh at the Keating X Rd location. Also they have an adorable shop dog Billie which really elevated the experience :)

Fantastic experience: Visiting Victoria and needed a cut. Wad referred to Rebellion as no appointment needed and told it was very popular. Got there early, right after opening. Waited maybe 15 minutes as all Barbers already had customers. Great cut and ridiculously affordable. At home my Barber was charging almost double what I was charged at Rebellion so very comfortable leaving larger tip. I wouldn't hesitate recommending to anyone looking for a cut and will definitely use again in the future when in the area.

Fantastic experience: Had the pleasure of getting a cut from Zoa who helped me fall in love with my long hair! He is mega friendly, kind and clearly a very versatile barber! I’ve been back a few times now and could not recommend him more. What a beauty! Also- the barber shop is wicked cool. Thanks Zoa!

Negative experience: I grew my hair out for two years just so I could get a sweet mullet. I did not get one. They chopped it short in the back and left it long on the top. I would never go back, not even for free. To say I was disappointed would be a huge under statement.

Fantastic experience: Usually go here, when I visit Victoria. Just feels like a good place to be. Waiting is fine as there are very comfortable couches, and even some old consoles to pass the time. I got my beard trimmed by Stephen and Kailey so far. Both flawless jobs. Thank you very much!

Fantastic experience: Had a great haircut with Chang today! She’s very friendly and genuine, you can tell she’s passionate about her work. She did an awesome job with my fade - normally barbers fade it higher in the back but she brought it lower. Chang explained that she adjusted the cut to fit my head shape (I have a very bumpy shape in the back ). I usually don’t pay much attention to the back but my wife commented that she liked it better this way. Just goes to show Chang’s attention to detail and adjusting the style to match her client. I’m very happy with how the texture and blend turned out on top as well, will definitely be returning!

Negative experience: Probably the worst haircut I’ve gotten here…. I usually have a good experience but slowly all the guys I trusted here to cut my hair are no longer here. When in today. New guy. It felt off from the start. Was hitting my ear frequently, jumpy with the clippers. I could have cut it this bad myself at home. Might have to buzz it down now … fk.

Negative experience: I’m disheartened to be leaving one of the few less-than-par reviews, because I’m aware of how great their reputation is. Unfortunately, my experience was not good. I’ve been recommended this barber by a few people and thought I’d give it a shot and leave my previous behind. I walked in and was immediately seated - this was great. Then however, the barber asked me if I wanted to keep my “bob” - I do not have a “bob” haircut, it’s a long, over-grown shaggy style. He then proceeds to explain he’s not familiar with how to cut my hair and asks his colleague to cut it. He didn’t seem enthused - almost as if he didn’t want to cut my hair either. I tried to explain I don’t mind waiting longer, but everyone seemed incredibly uncomfortable with what do with me. The other barber says yes and says I can have a seat to wait. So I wait. When it’s my turn, it’s not even the barber who said he’ll cut my hair. It was a woman, who, was amazing, kind and warming to me. I’m thankful for her. However, in my experience, a barber should be capable of cutting all types of male hair, regardless of length or style. When he sat me down, he made me feel exceedingly alienated and as though I was inconveniencing them. And to ask “do you want to keep the bob?” landed as tone deaf. It was very much a “I don’t know what to do with you, so I’m going to ask my colleague,” which then turned into a weird, everyone looking at me like an alien-type situation. Is it so uncommon for men with longer hair to get it cut? Historically barbers have always known how to cut my hair and I’ve never experienced such discomfort. Anyway, I’m happy that the woman cut my hair. I sat in her chair pretty upset and she managed to transform the experience. I hope I tipped her adequately. I was unaware that longer hair would prove challenging for them. I so badly wanted to enjoy this barbershop. Will not be returning, and I’m unable to recommend Rebellion after this experience.

Fantastic experience: The absolute best barbershop in Victoria. There is no competition. Amazing stylists, fantastic management, and a great atmosphere! Getting to play Mario Kart while I wait is a huge bonus. I never walk away unhappy and am always thrilled when I walk out. So happy to call Rebellion Barbershop my go-to place for self care and grooming.

Fantastic experience: I no longer live in Victoria, but when I did, I would always come to this place for a haircut. The staff has always been very friendly and have received excellent service every time I went. They always are open to conversation and really enjoy getting to know their customers. Great prices as well.

Positive experience: Got my haircut there today and was disappointing at best, but this place is my goto so I'll be back. I had armpit length hair and, after 10 years decided to cut it. I asked for a mullet and they ended up cutting the back way too short, so now I have short hair.....‍ ( At least it's just hair and will grow back.)

Fantastic experience: Super happy with the cut I got from Skyler. No other barber that ive visited in vic has come close! Numerous people were waiting when I came in, but I was out in about an hour. Just remember to bring cash cuz thats the only thing they take here.

Negative experience: I’ve had 3 hair cuts here, the first one was good I liked it. The last 2 terrible! They faced me away from the mirror so I couldn’t see the cut and flipped me around like TADA! TERRIBLE, I couldn’t speak. Worst $40 spent and I need a new haircut so this was a $70 mistake.

Fantastic experience: Took my 2 year old here for his first haircut. I had very low expectations but it went so well! He was calm and the barber was very accommodating and kind. The haircut was super cute too. Highly recommend for kids.

Fantastic experience: Excellent barbershop. I have been going there for two years now ( both shops) and have always had a good cut. However, recently I tried a new shop just because I was walking by and they had a chair available (will not say the shop). It was a very poor haircut, so I rushed over to Rebellion to see if I could get it fixed. Not only did they fix it, they didn’t charge me! The barber took it as a learning experience to teach a new barber. I can not remember his name, but thank you so much!!!

Fantastic experience: Rebellion is a very welcoming spot to get your hair cut and always have a good number of barbers working. Very thorough with their cuts and do a great job all around!

Positive experience: Great atmosphere, decent prices, decent haircut. But to be honest, the service and attitude of the barbers can feel rushed at times due to the nature that they don’t take appointments and they can get a rush of clients waiting. It can even feel that way when there’s nobody waiting too. The haircut is good which is my main review for.

Fantastic experience: It was my first time at the shop and I couldn't have been happier with my experience. Zoa gave me the best haircut I've ever gotten. His bubbly personality and his conversation skills made the whole experience even better. I heavily recommend Zoa to anyone going to the shop.

Fantastic experience: I've made my way around a few barber shops in town my first couple years here until I walked into Rebellion. The shop is very cool and has a good vibe and everyone who works in there is always welcoming, friendly and most importantly, great at what they do!

Fantastic experience: Great haircut, great music. easy, relaxed atmosphere, tins of beans, in a chair in 5 minutes on a Sunday. There was an apprentice watching and I got to hear some of how knowledgeable Mathew is. I'll be back!

Fantastic experience: I've tried most of the barbershops in town and this is hands-down my favorite. My barber was Matt and he was fantastic. Super nice guy and gives a great haircut. The vibe in the shop is also fantastic - I loved the gamecube setup while you're waiting.

Most recently Matt fixed my haircut done by a different barber shop in Victoria. Always impressed by there friendly experienced staff, customer service and good music.

Fantastic experience: I just moved to Victoria recently and needed a new barber shop. I saw this place and dropped in on a whim. I'm glad I did, as the staff where friendly and the service was excellent. I got my haircut by a barber named Matt. He did a great job on cutting my hair. It was kind of jacked up from my last haircut. He made it look fresh again. He was also very nice and easy to deal with. I'm glad I found a good barbershop that I can always go to get a fresh haircut.

Fantastic experience: The shop has a great relaxed laid back feel and I've always gotten a good cut. I got a cut from Skylar this morning, he was quick and efficient but it was just what I wanted and one of the best cuts I've had (thanks Skylar!).

Fantastic experience: I brought my son there for a haircut. It was good and didn't have to wait. He was good with my son. They take cash. The area around the couches could use a little TLC, but no complaints. Nice to hang around with guys too and we didn't feel rushed playing a couple rounds of Mario Kart. Ha ha

Fantastic experience: Been coming to Rebellion since 2019. Found it by chance, out of convenience and the recommendation of a friend, and have been coming consistently ever since. Quality of cuts for the price can’t be beat. Having moved, it’s no longer the most convenient. But I still make the drive knowing I’ll leave with a great cut every time. Usually will wait for Josh. But I’ve had cuts by many of their barbers, and always walk out happy.

Fantastic experience: Came in a few weeks ago and got a cut from Bobbi one of the apprentices there and couldn’t be happier. I’ve been to rebellion a few times now but my cut from Bobbi has been my favourite so far. Very nice person and enjoyed talking to her during the cut, it’s nice to have a barber who’s talkative and not just silent. The cut went by quickly and I was very happy with the end result and being an apprentice cut it was a bit cheaper so really can’t recommend it more. If you get a chance get a cut from Bobbi!

Fantastic experience: Always an amazing cut, I get busy and tend to let my hair get shaggy, a perfect skin fade everytime. Queer friendly. I've been turned away from barbers before, zero issues here.
