He’s been cutting my son’s hair for a year and a half and the only person we found in 15 years living in AZ that can cut my son’s thick curly hair exactly the way he likes. My son “HAD” haircut trauma from so many bad haircuts and Hugo has definitely healed that for him. My son always walks out very happy. Thank you so much Hugo and staff. The customer service is always so friendly and knowledgeable and they make you feel very comfortable and at home. I wish I can give him 10 stars.

Fantastic experience: I've been coming here with my family for several years now - all of the barbers here do such a great job, and Gladis is just such a fantastic barber and friendly person! The store is always clean and professional, and the barbers are able to adapt to any hairstyle from what I've seen. I've walked in without an appointment on any given day and have been helped (but it's always good to have an appointment just in case!) Even when I was living in Tucson, I would make the drive up here to get my hair cut here - that's how great they are! I'm always very happy with my hair after a cut from this place, especially with the option of a straight razor and scalp massage afterwards with my selection! 100% worth your money to get your hair cut here :)

Fantastic experience: This review is a tad bit late. Well, a few months late to be exact. Life has been quite hectic and I failed to get on here to leave this review. That said, I want to give Gladys 5 stars for my visit 2 months ago, in September. I moved to AZ from CA (don't come for me) and I've struggled to find the right hair stylist. This resulted in me dying my own hair with Sally's beauty supply products. I showed Gladys a picture of the color I wanted to achieve, and I believe she was afraid we wouldn't get the lighter color because my hair was darker and perhaps, she was afraid my box dye was black. So, she told me it wasn't possible without stripping my whole hair. And if I didn't strip it, the color she would use would be closer to my natural dark hair and we could add highlights. I was really bummed out but somehow, I Still pictured my hair would be lighter color lol. Anyway, I agreed with whatever Gladys told me and just went along with the plan. Sadly she said my hair wasn't what she expected from the pics I sent her, so she had to add another $45 or $60 on top of what was originally quoted. Again, I went along because I was already there and I had an event to attend. Let's just say I've never paid this much for my hair (o_0) even in California's high prices YIKES. A few benzz to be exact. 3 to 4 hours later, the reveal had me a bit puzzled because again I was still hoping my hair color would be lighter with highlights added to it. However, my hair was still dark. That was my fault for not understanding what she told me. Skip to the end. The End result was awesome. I ended up LOVING my new hair color. It was So much better than what I walked in with. Also so much better than other salons I've visited in AZ! Hands down. I LOVED how she took her time with my highlights and cared for my hair. I loved how she interacted with me. I loved how she and her coworker took care of the facility even though she told me she didn't own the place, they took care of it as their own. I love how she was hospitable and kind. So with that said I feel like I've found the hairstylist I need in my life <3 !! I just hope maintenance isn't as expensive as first time around lol. Gladys is great and I give her all the stars google has to offer!! Oh! and I also found out she cut my son's hair earlier in the year and he loved the cut she gave him!!! I had no idea coz someone else took him there. But it makes sense that we all appreciate Gladys' work. She's amazing! Thank you Gladys and staff for a great experience!! Look forward to coming back.

They do men and women cuts, facials, highlights .. ext.. and they are so sweet and nice and they do such an amazing job too! The place has an elegant black and white look there professional and you we’ll definitely be walking out of the building looking like a new person! Thank you for helping us look our best!!! Fantastic experience: For years I've always gone to places like great clips, quick cuts etc. and for around $15.00 I got a haircut. Some good, some not so good. Yesterday I decided to try something different. I went to The Barber of Choix. I made my appointment online and went after work. Gladys was my barber. I told her what I wanted. She went to work. Then she broke out the straight razor and hot shave cream. WOW. It's been forever since I've been in a barber shop that uses a straight razor. (You're not getting that at a chain place) She even trimmed my eyebrows. Then she asked me if I wanted a scalp massage. I've never had one before, so I was feeling adventurous and said yes. It was awesome. Needless to say at the end even my sideburns were even. I can't tell you the last time my sideburns were even. Yes, the hair cut costs more but definitely worth it. I'm worth it and you are too. Treat yourself to a haircut at The Barber of Choix. You'll be glad you did.

I have been pleased with every cut I have received, and it has become the only place I go for haircuts. The atmosphere is wonderful. The seats are large and comfortable. They even have a nice little play area for my son to play in when I bring him along. I could not recommend this place more.

Negative experience: I used to take my oldest here and thought it would be a good idea to take my youngest since I was somewhat familiar with, Gladys. I was very disappointed and still left a tip. For the first time I was asked if I needed a receipt and I said no (not even really thinking about it), but when I was looking over my bank statement I noticed I was charged over $50 for my 2 year old sons partial hair cut. I ended up taking him to another barber to fix it. I’m more upset about the dishonesty rather than a butchered hair cut with what looked like bangs. Obviously we will not be back.

He took great care in blending up my hair as I asked, squaring off my back and trimming the appropriate amount off the top. He further went on to help trim other areas along my neck line and ears to clean everything up.he helped and went through trim my beard, give a straight razor to cut out edges nicely and just felt fantastic afterwards. Fantastic experience: Discovered this shop in May 2024. Asked them for a beard trim. Miss Gladys worked wonders on my beard! Traveled the US during the summer months. No other barber matched her work. Returned to Mesa recently, and re-visited the shop. Miss Gladys was not present so Hugo stepped in. He knocked it outta the park! Fantastic experience: Gladis is amazing with my 4 year old! He's a little shy around new people and she has done a really great job of getting him to warm up to her. She is really patient with him and even lets him stand instead of sitting. She also does an amazing job with his hair. He has a lot of cowlicks and kind of wavy/textured hair and he's gotten some pretty bad haircut at some of the kids cut places, but Gladis does an amazing job! The shop is really clean and everyone is really friendly. I love that I can book online and I can get am appointment really quickly. I'm so glad I found them!

Negative experience: Great haircut!.... but, It says $40 for a Choix haircut which includes a fade eyebrow trim and scalp oil massage. I didn't get my eyebrow trim and when I asked for price she said $55. Please update your prices! I felt like I was scammed... I haven't gotten a haircut in a very long time because of how expensive it is and when I wanted to treat myself I didn't get the full treatment and cost was almost another 50%

Fantastic experience: Gladis took time to ask questions and really understand my desires for my pixie cut and I left that chair with the cut I wanted, which was absolutely amazing! The whole team there is fantastic!

Negative experience: I was in need of a haircut and I had been to The Barber of Choix once before. This time though the staff looked at me two of them starting talking about me, then the one lady walked over and asked me what was my weight. I told her That I heard them talking about me and that I had been a customer before and she said I needed to tell her my weight, because it was a safety issue. She said they did not want me to fall through the chair and damage it. I will not go back, I cannot believe that a business could do that to somebody. I am disgusted.

Fantastic experience: I have been getting my haircut at The Barber of Choix for over a year. Easy to schedule, East access store front. I am always greeted by smiling happy staff! Gladis generally cuts my hair. I usually bring a photo to show her how I like my haircut. We review what I want and Gladis always delivers a beautiful haircut! I am never disappointed. She makes me feel right at home in her chair while she performs her magic. I had a razor cut a couple of times, no pulling, the rasor cut my coarse hair like butter. Fantastic experience: I went in yesterday with about 3-4 colors in my hair. I dyed it at home my self ‍♀️. I came in here and met Gladys and the wonderful group that work with her. She said she was going to try her best to help me out and fix it. And boy did she come thru!!! My hair looks and feels amazing. No damage and a beautiful bayalage all in one sitting! It's been about 5 years since I've had a good stylists and I finally found one!!!!!
