Negative experience: Please don’t go. Save yourself from a bad scam. Went for a beard trim, ended up with a half done job made by a teenager who never had a clipper in his hand. Asking you what to do every 5mn, butchering your face with non sanitized tools and asking you a random price of 35$. No worries Mario was on the phone all along and couldn’t care less. PLEASE DO NOT GO

The atmosphere of the shop is classy but comfortable, with saxophone instrumentals playing in the background (I had to stop myself from bopping my head). Mario has recognised me every time in my few visits, highlighting the small town vibe that is rare to come across at a barber tucked away in the heart of Sydney CBD. I highly recommend Caveman Barbers, whether you're popping in during work, or making the trip out specially, the cut and experience is worth it.

Homie spotted I'd made a mistake and messaged me to clarify if it was what I wanted to order - turns out it wasn't and gave me a refund within 10 minutes. Fantastic experience: My 10 year old son has never allowed anyone to cut his hair without a tremendous amount of resistance. Mario has a very natural grace about him which made my son feel very at ease. He went in with long knotted surfers hair and left with a very cool short boy cut. After meeting Mario and getting not 1 but 2 great haircuts from him I wish I could stay in Sydney longer so I could get more haircuts from him! Negative experience: Yeah, Mario is a lovely guy, and clearly is a gentleman. However, after this service, I have sworn off of going to hairdressers or barbers ever again. I gave pretty simple and clear instructions, but was ignored the entire time. I just wanted a simple beard trim, without touching the thickness or overall shape. I pointed out and mentioned specific things, which were all ignored. I told him to not worry about the hair on my head and only cut my beard, this was also ignored. My beard went from full and textured, albeit a little long and unkept, to thin, wispy, and blow dried completely straight. The blow dryer was so hot, that it genuinely was burning my hair. Not to mention the staff member that was spread across the couch, blaring Tik Toks from his phone. All of this, and I ended up paying $75. If anyone has any recommendations for genuinely good barbers, please let me know, it may make me rethink things.

Fantastic experience: I'd been wanting to change my haircut drastically for some time, so I did my research and came across this salon. I booked a haircut with Mario and I have to say I'm very impressed. Aside from his talent with the scissors, Mario is more of what I would consider an 'artist'. He was able to spot the strengths of my face and skull straight away and gave me the perfect haircut, while being a great person to get to know. Negative experience: Went here because of the overall positive reviews and star rating. Mario is very friendly and welcoming. Also, a very nice shop. Unfortunately, i have to concur with the minority of reviews on the fade haircut from here. This was over very quickly and it was not a fade haircut. I’m not actually sure what this was but I would expect a proper gradual skin fade for $55. Edit: Photo2 taken the next day - somehow the “fade” looks even more comically bad. Photo3 and photo4: fade correctly done after it was fixed by another hairdresser, which I had to pay for.

Fantastic experience: It was my second time at the Cavemen barbers and it was the best!! I have wavy/curly hair and always get nervous when going to barbers to get a scissor cut and I am also extremely fussy when it comes to my hair and Mario took the time to make me feel happy, relaxed and comfortable. He is such a kind person and you can tell that he takes his hair very seriously. The jazz music at the store also gave it a really nice ambiance.

Negative experience: A very average haircut. Skin fade took 20 minutes, felt rushed and no attention to detail. When I sat down in the chair, Mario wanted to cut someone else’s hair before me, yet I had an appointment…. Not great customer service. For $60 - I would have expected a lot more.
