Negative experience: I got my hair cut asked for a low tapper and a little off the top but instead the barber I got decided to cut my hair so short that I don’t even have an inch of hair on my head and am pretty much bold on the sides

Fantastic experience: Jay at Tommy Gunn’s is hands down one of the best barbers I’ve been to. He genuinely takes his time with every cut, pays attention to the smallest details, and makes sure everything is perfect before you leave the chair. You can tell he really cares about his clients and takes pride in his work. He’s also great to talk to, makes you feel comfortable, and gives the whole experience a relaxed, professional vibe. The passion and effort he puts into every haircut really shows. Highly recommend Jay if you want someone who truly looks after you and delivers quality every time.

Negative experience: I used to go there for haircuts for over a year and would specifically book with the guy Jae — the New Zealander guy with tattoos and chains. One day, he tried to sell me some products from their shop, but I refused because I don’t use any products on my hair. I feel like he took it personally. While cutting my hair he told me that his wife or girlfriend uses all his money and doesn’t want to work. I felt sorry but I don’t want to buy things I don’t use. After that, both he and his friend, who were trying to act cool while pushing products I didn’t need, started behaving differently. He stopped giving me the usual quality haircut and acted as if it was my fault for not buying anything. Same with his friend! This was a long time back, I had to switch many salons just because the barber decides to take things personally, but oh well!

Negative experience: Checked in via their app and confirmed my appointment for 5:14pm on Sunday 9th November, but showed only to get rejected by staff, who said they close at 5:14pm. On Google it says they’re open till 6 and the staff said they don’t get paid beyond 5:30pm. To the owner of this branch at Macquarie Park - shame on you! Shame on you for having your staff reject a confirmed appointment and get me to download a pointless app, and shame on you and your staff for wasting my time. Poor customer experience. Also, I saw a frequent staff member that has cut my hair multiple times and she indirectly said they are closing up - the Tongan lady working there. To her and all the depressed looking staff - have some respect for customers. To the owner, bad reflection on you mate.

Negative experience: We always go to our trusted barber but made the mistake of going here one time. Really shabby haircut for a primary school kid. Whoever did it seems to be an apprentice with no sense of how hair is cut. Utterly disappointing as it's not cheap.

I'm sorry to my old Barbers (5 years) but this now going to be my go too at least as long as they keep this level of service. Negative experience: Would not recommend this barbershop. I went in for a simple low taper and a small trim on top to take some weight out. When I mentioned “low taper,” the female barber looked confused as if they had never heard of the term before. The end result reflected that — the sides weren’t blended or faded whatsoever and uneven, and the back was the same as well. I was charged $45 for what looked like a half-done haircut. Immediately after, I went to The Men’s Grooming nearby and paid another $45 just to have their barbers fix the original barbers mistakes and finish the job properly. Overall, very disappointing experience and poor value for money. I would not recommend this barbershop.

Fantastic experience: I came in for a fade cut for the first time and pleasantly surprised to be offered a complimentary beer right away, which was excellent experience. They offer free drinks, which definitely adds to the experience. I got a fade cut from Raj and I’m really happy with the result. Raj really paid close attention to detail and took his time to make sure the fade was clean and sharp. The staff were very welcoming and the service overall was excellent. I loved this whole experience and will definitely be back. Highly recommend checking out Tommy Gunns!

Negative experience: I had been a client for the last 4 years, until this Thursday I did the check in 7:30 pm. I arrived on time, waited 15 minutes, and only then a lady came over to say, “Sorry, no more haircuts today!” Such disorganisation!

Negative experience: Ziad did a terrible job on my hair. I asked him how long he has been a barber for and he said a few weeks, he is a apprentice. Poor form from management. He did such a bad job i had to get it fixed straight after at another salon nearby. He shouldn't be on the floor cutting full paying clients. Uneven on both side, no blending, patchy work.

She always does an excellent job, and what I really appreciate is how easy she makes the whole process. Negative experience: Very disappointed with the terrible experience with Connie today, as a repeat customer asked for the usual haircut for my son a fade on the sides and trim on top and walked away with a buzz on the sides and the top so poorly cut that it was not even combed and hair continues to fall out. Would not recommend paying $50 for Connie

Fantastic experience: Nice place. The atmosphere is welcoming and the hairdressers are skilled - some are better than others but overall the quality is higher than in most other places I have tried. I’ve been coming here for the past three months, and so far, it has met my expectations. The price-to-quality ratio is quite good. While you might find cheaper options elsewhere, the quality makes it worth the extra cost.

Negative experience: I had a really disappointing experience with a barber named Nate at this shop. During my haircut, he used a foil shaver that seemed either old or dirty, instead of cutting, it actually pulled at my hair, which was painful. When I reacted to the discomfort, rather than showing concern or checking the equipment, Nate snapped at me and said, “There’s always something with you,” and went on to blame me instead of addressing the issue. I found his attitude extremely rude and unprofessional. This kind of customer treatment is unacceptable, and I hope the shop takes steps to ensure a better experience for others.

Negative experience: DO NOT DO skin fade with Raj Most expensive hair cut and the worst skin fade Ive ever gotten, took 1hr to cut my hair and left with lines in my fade and spent $57 But the lady behind the counter was kind enough to give me a $10 voucher and a drink.

Negative experience: Deadset terrible experience. Nothing remotely close to the reference photo, customer experience was shocking and rude. Blatantly did the opposite of what I told him. Asked for the bottom of the mullet to be pointy 3 times, he ended up curving it off against my wishes. Also asked for a skin burst fade, the number zero was not even touched. I don’t think anything under a 4 was used. It was the last haircut of his day, but that should not reflect on the experience and or haircut. Paid $52 at the till. No thank you or see you next time. Radio silence and couldn’t even look at me. This is not a reflection on the shop itself, it’s well and setup and everyone seems nice enough. It’s the one barber.

Fantastic experience: Had the best experience here at Tommy Gun's Macquarie. Came in for a drastic hair change (from hair down to my shoulder blades to a near fade) and was sat down with Jay. I can comfortably say I have never felt more at ease with a haircut than I did with Jay. He consistently checked in with how I was going, and I also never felt like I was being rushed out of the chair to make way for the next person. Cannot recommend Jay any higher, and will be purposely seeking him out for all future hair cuts at TGM!!

Negative experience: Came in requesting multiple times to keep the length at the back, got ignored or just spoken over to rush the process and ended up with a haircut I didn’t ask for and to top it off, the lines were crooked and layering completely incorrect. Do not go here if you want your preferences about your hair respected. Will not be coming back

Negative experience: This place is legendary. Jay takes his time and does an amazing job. As I got my cut I noticed all the barbers were good and nobody was trying to speed through and pretend that by going fast they can still achieve a good even haircut. I’m very impressed and will definitely be returning. The free beer was a nice perk Edit** I went back but unfortunately my favourite barber was off. I needed a haircut but so took a chance with another barber. I gave her explicit instructions on what I wanted done. She did the exact opposite. Completely ruined my beard to the point I went home and shaved it off. She also botched my hair. Worse fade ever. And so begins the search for a new barber.

Negative experience: I asked for a mid taper (and also showed a reference image) and got the worst possible attempt of a burst fade. I'm now stuck with a patchy, uneven haircut. I tried booking with Jay (who I had previously had good experiences with) but he had someone in front who had already booked him - which was fine but then when I came back, there were 3 people in front of me requesting Jay. I asked how they got infront of me in the queue but the woman at the front desk wouldn't answer. I was then put with a woman who shouldn't be qualified to cut mens hair. She cut the sides 4cm higher than I wanted (using a 1 razor) and then started cutting behind my ears with a 2 razor which I didn't ask for, but she just kept going. Overrall 100% not worth the $44 I was charged and just bad quality

Negative experience: Had too many negative experiences with staff, not listening to how to style my hair. Last time the receptionist was soo rude. She told they are closing at 4pm instead of 6pm for no reason. Other Tommy Guns have been great! It’s a shame this so poorly run!

Negative experience: Appalling! Do not risk going there and getting a disastrous haircut. The barber could not follow the simple instruction he had been given. The manager ignorantly interfered telling the barber how short to cut the hair, which was completely against the instruction he had been given. Absolutely horrendous!

Negative experience: Had very bad experience with my haircut. Frontdesk didn’t remind me that it’s this boy’s first week. And after the haircut I was trying to give some feedback but the manager who’s a lady just told me I don’t need to pay and wave to me like asking me to leave asap. She didn’t even ask what could they do to fix my hair.

I enjoy the service and way the shop operates, with your name on the screen queue. No guessing who’s next among the crowd. Pricier than some other barbers, but good system, great service and a complimentary drink.

Negative experience: Frustrating experience. I had a confirmed booking at 5:19pm and tried checking in through the app on time. Without explanation, my appointment was pushed to 5:36pm. By 5:51pm, I was still waiting 30 + minutes — no communication, no apology. They did call me eventually, but by then it was too late—I had already walked off. If you can’t respect people’s time, there’s no point in having a booking system and also communicate with your customers.

Negative experience: My husband came here for the first time and had a great experience with their buzz cut plus skin fade—the result was amazing. However, on his second visit, despite requesting the same service, the outcome was completely different. The fade was poorly done, with a visible line and no proper blending. If you’re looking for consistency, I wouldn’t recommend this place. This service costed us close to $50.
