Fantastic experience: I had an awesome experience at Koa’s Barbershop from the moment I walked in it felt like high-end service but at a much better price than other premium spots I've been too around Salt Lake City (like City Barbers). I got my cut from Koa himself, and it was hands-down one of the best haircuts I’ve had. He brings so much passion and personality to the chair, and you can tell he truly cares about what he does. There’s a great personal touch to the whole experience from Koa’s unique story to how attentive he is to what you want, made it very easy to get a good cut for me here. The quality definitely feels above and beyond clean, sharp, and thoughtful service from start to finish. The atmosphere is chill and friendly, but still very professional not the cookie cutter barbershop that's too common these days. Really felt like I got great value for what I paid. 10/10 I’ll definitely be back and would recommend this place to anyone looking for a standout barber in SLC.

Negative experience: Paid $65 plus tip. The haircut felt rushed and uneven, especially on the top and back, with poor blending. I chose not to return for a fix. This was disappointing, especially after being a customer for almost 3 years. The shop did reach out afterward, which I appreciate.

Negative experience: Unprofessional ownership ruined what used to be my go-to barber shop. I’ve been coming to this shop for about an year and a half and always had an amazing experience with my barber, Riley — she’s talented, professional, and one of the main reasons I kept coming back. Unfortunately, the owner (Dani) completely changed that for me. I accidentally missed an appointment (100% my fault) and called about 30 minutes later to apologize and see if I could reschedule or at least discuss the charge. Instead of working with me, the owner told me they “had the right to charge whatever they wanted” since my card was on file, and then charged me the full $50 for a haircut I never received. When I politely asked if I could speak to my barber directly, the owner blew up on me — calling me “abusive toward women” and an “entitled student.” I’m a 20-year-old guy who was just trying to make things right, and it felt incredibly wrong to have my gender used against me in that way. I’ve never had a public situation like this before, and it left me feeling completely blindsided and disrespected. She later texted me saying she’d refund half the charge, but then blocked my number and never sent the refund. I thought we had come to an agreement, but apparently not. To me, this is completely non-ethical. Riley is a great barber and doesn’t deserve to work under someone who treats customers like this. I’m still waiting on my refund, and while I won’t be returning, I hope others don’t get treated the same way I did.

Fantastic experience: It was my first time getting a haircut with Augustus, and I’ll definitely be coming back. He has an excellent sense of customer experience — he listens carefully, offers great advice, and shapes the haircut based on what suits you best. You can tell he genuinely cares about the result and makes the whole experience comfortable and personalized. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been here twice, first time for a haircut/beard trim and second time just a beard trim and both time I left with exactly what I was hoping for. I was able to get a last minute appointment both times which is big for me as I don’t plan well and on both visits the staff was extremely professional and the atmosphere is relaxing. The hot towel treatment was absolutely divine - so relaxing and refreshing that I nearly dozed off right there in the chair. Negative experience: EDIT: Place defending themselves with a reply and calling me a liar that my last visit was 27 weeks ago! Shame You get a one star for this one now! And an uploaded photo of the butchered job you guys did when it happened. Friendly staff but cheapened experience from what I was normally used to. I didn't ask, but was immediately thrown into, "oh you're cutting my hair now without asking to wash". Their prices have come down and they have an entire new staff - seems like they are learning. No hot towel treatment with eucalyptus oils anymore. Great conversation, but I don't expect it. I just want a good haircut, but experience here just seems too new. Just glad I had a haircut finally after the entire staff at this joint left. It's not the same. New staff has a lot to learn as I'm finding glaring mistakes with my head now that everything is not styled. Right side is butchered. Not sure if I want to return for correction just based on competency. Barber is nice, but what made this place a gem before no longer exists.

Negative experience: I got a terrible haircut, and I had to immediately go somewhere else to get it fixed. EDIT: To the owner's reply... LOL. The person who cut my hair during my youth was my aunt. Also, I lived for several years in SC. There, the person who cut my hair for several years was a lady from the church I went to. Therefore, I reject your claims of misogyny. Yes, I'm socially awkward, and I do not do well with small talk. However, I was NEVER rude nor "abusive" to your barber. I always maintained 100 percent professional language with her. I specified the haircut style I liked and even provided recent pictures of past haircuts. The fact is, the barber is not up to par for the amount that your shop charges. I had to go to another barber in town to correct it. I'm not out to get free service. I'm a working professional. That is why I tipped your barber $20 for the hour spent. I travel very frequently, and I've been to barbers across the country, in Latin America, and even Asia. I would classify my visit to your shop one of the lowest rated. Sorry, not sorry.

My partner doesn't speak English, just spanish, and we were not super sure about the change he wanted. We told her that we wanted to go for a 'wolf cut' or something similar but we were open to her suggestions. Riley was nice, helpful and professional. We loved the haircut and the experience!
