Negative experience: 3 things a ~$100 (+tip) haircut gets you here: 1. A 10-minute wait past your appointment 2. An uninspired barber with a very (questionable) high opinion of himself 3. A very very mediocre (at best) haircut *Nikki, please don't reply with some snarky shit ... it's really immature of you to berate your customers [former customer in my case] when they give you honest feedback. When your barber tells you "you're neither Ronaldo nor Brad Pitt so just stick with a basic fade because my reputation will be ruined" is just... totally weird, as I dont need to be told that (!) It killed my mood and I was judged for daring to make an appointment with a bald barber, of all things. I'm sooooo sorry for making you think/work. I will say, the owner (Nikki) is the only one who ever got it somewhat right. But then again it was a quick trim (she just trimmed my ends and it was over in 15 minutes), not much of a style... and I paid full price plus generous tip because I have class.

Fantastic experience: Groom for Gentlemen in Elmhurst is great! I’ve gotten haircuts from Nikki and Bri, and both have done an excellent job. I used to go to their location in downtown Chicago and with a different barber, but living in the suburbs, that was a timely trip for me. I’m happy they have this location closer to me to save me travel time and I’m excited for their new location opening in Oakbrook soon.

Negative experience: I rarely leave negative reviews and have only left 5-star reviews for other businesses, but this experience deserves to be documented. I arrived for my appointment, checked in, and was never acknowledged by staff. No one said hello, no one communicated delays, nothing. I left after waiting and later received a call, only to be told I would still be charged a cancellation fee. Being physically present and still charged for “not showing up” is wild. I’ve been a loyal customer since 2022 and this is not how long-term clients should be treated. Extremely disappointing for what is supposed to be a higher-end salon. Other than this last bad experience (key word last, will not be coming back) I have genuinely enjoyed coming here. Update: owner responded saying I left after 3 mins. Attached is the screenshot clearly showing that was not the case. Appointment was for 3:20 and was reached out to 11 minutes later. Very sad response from a “business owner”.

Fantastic experience: Great experience, from start to finish. I came in a little unsure of what I was looking for, but Ashley was patient and tried a few different lengths, and really styled me up. She's got the professional chops to make you look good, so do not hesitate.

Negative experience: I've had beard trims done all over the country and world. Groom came highly recommend..No one answered the phone to confirm they were comfortable with a very large beard trim so I booked an appointment online. Clean and streamlined shop.. Guillermo was kind enough but unfortunately did not listen and being in the hair industry that is a massive misstep. I asked for 1.5 inches removed and touched up. First scissor stroke was over 4 inches!! I knew then that there was no remedy for this and had him continue. It's sad that a stylist or barber can't understand measurements and basically cut my beard in half. Cheek lines mid aligned and beard was mid shapen requiring going to another barber to fix. All this compounded by being one of the most expensive beard trims ever. Overall extremely disappointed with Groom and would not recommend them for large beards in Chicago.

Fantastic experience: A short story regarding my haircut with Brittany Dubowski Lost and without hope, I wandered around Chicago like a scruffy dog. My hair was a mess and my confidence was low. I heard a soft buzzing in the distance; was it a weed wacker or a chain saw? NO! It was much more inviting. I hastily made my way to the entrance of a small and unassuming business with little decor but a warmth that caused my heart to glow. A woman named Brittany greeted me and smiled in a comforting way, giving me the confidence to follow her into a sequestered chair. I shyly requested that she do what she does best. She offered recommendations, tips and style choices that I rapidly processed. With haste and determination, she started on my hair. Like an artist, sculpting a god out of marble, her precision was unmatched. She worked for about 30 minutes sculpting, shaping, and trimming to take away not only the rag that sat atop my head but also the stress of a long work week. She spoke about life in a way that brought joy. Her electric energy provided an infectious excitement. She turned the chair around and began to wash my hair; she scrubbed away the clippings and my insecurities, resulting in a soft and natural sheen that brought a strange resurgence of confidence. A fantastic performance that would get her into Juliard, Harvard, or Cambridge if they compared what she was able to do to art. I left after paying with a newly found energy that resulted in compliments from family, friends, and strangers alike. I will certainly go back. P.S. The give you a discount on the parking thing across the street.

Negative experience: Price was not what it was on website $144 for a mens 30 minute haircut is absurd. Save your money go somewhere else. Perfect reason to not go based on their response below. Make sure to stay away from Nikki.

She was inquisitive, thorough, and confident - a total pro. The haircut she provided was next level compared to anything I have received recently.
