Fantastic experience: Highly recommend these guys very professional do a great job and have an amazing atmosphere in the shop

Negative experience: I have paid $65 for Master Chris for skin Fade, but when I arrived their shop, chris said he is running late because he was cutting someone else's hair cut and he told his colleague to cut my hair, I was ok with that as I thought he should good as him but he even didn't cut skinfade. I told that guy that is he got what I want and he said yes but he didn't. And at the all of this end, I told them there reference of the guy that chris was cutting, then chris came and he just finished off what his colleague left with my hair but still was even not completely skinfade, very disappointing work compared to price that he is charging. The work, he done look like normal barbershop work. Not happy at all. I am giving 2 rating because for another guy, he was good by nature. I will not go here again and not recommending

Fantastic experience: I’ve travelled the world over and have met many barbers and I must say that Chris is a true master of the craft ,I highly recommend him as well as any of the senior barbers here.

Fantastic experience: Best barber I have ever had, Chris couldn't do a bad cut if he had to. Consistent style every time, great vibe, great music. I was recommended to go to Chris about 5 years ago by one of my best mates. He & his son used to go, like a dad & son date. My son & I have been doing the same since then, hair cut & a brew after. I travel across town especially to have my cuts at New City Barbers. I recommend NCB to everyone, especially dudes with beards. Get it pruned by the pro!

Fantastic experience: Fantastic barber shop. Chris - the owner - always does exactly what I request and (importantly) always provides good chat, well received after a busy old day, today. Would thoroughly recommend.

Negative experience: Definitely the worst experience I've had at a barbershop around New Zealand. A haircut with the "master barber" cost 65 NZD, and this was the result: the barber and owner didn't clean the shop or the tools he used after the previous client (tools in poor condition that damaged my skin). He had a very unpleasant attitude, and at the end of the haircut, without informing me (zero communication), he put a product in my hair that I didn't want. I finally had to go somewhere else to fix the haircut. I felt ripped off after this terrible experience

Fantastic experience: I was very happy with my haircut and the excellent service. My appointment was bang on time which is very professional.

Negative experience: Most expensive and most disappointing haircut I ever had. I came in asking for a simple clipper cut. The owner dissuaded me arguing it would look bad. He conveniently neglected to tell me the price would go up by 2-3 times. I also explicitly mentioned I never use products in my hair nor do I intend to. At the end he mentions I need to apply product to maintain it. My main problem didn't even get solved and will have someone else have to fix this already expensive 60 dollar haircut. It's clear they don't have the customer's best interest at heart and simply try to squeeze as much as they can from each single visit.

Cut my hair , I am super impressed with the end result, and will sure book my next hair styling with him again. The rate is NZ$50. Definitely make an ugly duckling beautiful again. It is part of Christchurch City living, let us support the local businesses and makes the City great again.

Fantastic experience: I Googled Best Beard Trim in Christchurch when I was on the bus, traveling to Christchurch from Dunedin. Chris Terry New City Barbers came up and I was (fortunately) able to get an appointment when I virtually got off the bus. Walking distance to the shop. Great choice, Chris did an awesome job of my (mainly)moustache and beard. I get very nervous about anyone touching my beard however, Chris made me feel completely comfortable and did exactly what I wanted and exceeded my expectations!! Between him and Dwayne here at Lone Wolf Barbers in Dunedin, I have two awesome options. I may have to make a special trip to Christchurch to see Chris and the team, and great value for money also.

Fantastic experience: Learned of these barbers from a friend's recommendation in 2019 and glad I did. I've always found the staff to be easy going, yet professional, and knowledgeable. I've always left with the cut I was after, mainly because when asked "How does that look?" I'll tell them so rather than not, and the staff aren't phased at all if I ask for a reasonable alteration. Staff have always made the effort to learn a little about me, and how I want my hair to be styled before reaching for scissors/clippers. It's appreciated when staff share knowledge of different products and what makes them suitable for a certain look, without trying any hard up sell. The off street parking right in front of their doors is fantastic, especially with the various works going on in the city. I enjoy being able to make quick and simple bookings online, instead of the familiar "turn up and hope you don't find a massive queue" at other places. I find those queues to be a real waste of time and would explain why I felt cuts were rushed at other places. Cheers, see you next time.

Fantastic experience: Have had trouble with my hair as it is pretty thick and quite unruly. However this was not an issue for the barber at NCB who recommended I try something different than my usual clipper cut. He then proceeded to fix me up with, quite comfortably, the best haircut I’ve ever received. Stoked as, will be coming back.

Negative experience: Yesterday i went 2nd time there for Classic hair cut as i was happy with first hair cut. He did a hair cut from me however NOT a professional Classic hair cut that i had before with same guy. I had little burnt hair at front part which i am okay with that due to over use to hair straightener but sides and top was not done properly. I was very excited to have a hair for 2nd time but service was completely opposite to first time. He was rushing to finish it also, bread shape and lines were bad and i had to fix it by myself at home. When i tried to contact him to explain about issue then he refused and told me that it was same cut and AGREED in email that he was in rush. Also, left side from ear were having more length of hair then right side. NOT HAPPY WITH SERVICE and don't recommend. As first hair cut was good so that's why 2 stars.

Most recently was Mac, his work saved my marriage and my wife now finds me attractive again. Great guys who do an excellent job. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: I'd been struggling to find a barber that would cut and style my hair to suit me for a while. I always left feeling a little dissatisfied with my cuts. I had heard good things about this place, so decided to give it a go. I was fortunate enough to have Mac as my barber. He listened to what I was looking for, provided some of his own opinions on what could work, then spent a good 30 meticulously doing his work. I could tell by his concentration and attention to detail that he puts a lot of pride and passion into his work. I am very pleased with the results, and will definitely be visiting this place for any future cuts. Easy 5 stars.
