Positive experience: The experience has dropped off. I’ve been going for about 5 years and it has always been a relaxed and convenient place to get a hair cut. Now it is a burger place with a barber attached. The last time I visited I walked out because they were 25 mins late and didn’t communicate they would be late. I sat there with a huge speaker blaring music into my face for 25 mins. Too annoying now so wont be going again.

Negative experience: Terrible cut, my son has been going to Benny for a while now. As it seems Benny not there? We had to book with William. He came out with a bowl cut. So annoying it will take months to grow back. He didn’t ask for one just cut his fringe to eyebrows, it near at his hairline. Will never go back. Horrendous

Positive experience: Definitely wasn't all the rage. Booked through the website, price advertised as $30, charged $40. Bloke put a neck wrap on and started cutting my hair, so I said "Do you guys usually cut hair without capes?" He'd forgotten to put one on. Went home with an okay cut, and a tshirt covered in hair. Received an email 2 weeks to the day asking if I was ready to book another cut. Who even gets their hair cut every 2 weeks? I more than likely wouldn't go back.

Negative experience: Absolutely horrendous!! My partner asked for a low drop fade and got the worst cut he’s ever gotten. looked nothing like the picture shown. They used to cut great but what is this an absolute joke?

Negative experience: Have been taking my kids here for the past 5 years on and off as every cut use to be great, However the last few hair cuts have been shocking and nothing what' been asked for. Gave benefit of the doubt and booked in with different barbers to just see if it was a off day. However one star rating this time due to my son showing up at home up pissed off after having all his hair cut off at the back after showing pictures of what he wanted which included keeping the length at the back, didn't even try to do what he had showed them and just went in and did a fade cut which was choppy and uneven through the top. To make it worse this hair cut was for my sons formal and has completely ruined the experience for him. They did refund for the service but sadly will not be returning to what was once a great barbershop.

Negative experience: If I could give Benny's Barbers negative stars, I would. Their motto should be "We ruin more than just your hair." After my visit, not only did I leave with the worst haircut of my life, but my girlfriend left me the moment she saw it. Benny, you've single-handedly sabotaged my love life with your atrocious handiwork. Don't waste your time or risk your relationships at Benny's Barbers – unless you want to look like you've been attacked by a weed whacker. To anyone considering a visit, beware: your hair and heart may never recover. Stay far, far away from this place.

Negative experience: Absolutely gutted, took 20 minutes for a full skin fade and the end results show it, was way to rushed for a full skin fade.

Fantastic experience: Classic industrial barber vibes, with a talented team of barbers doing the mahi. I’m a dedicated regular - along with my dog Miss Radish (dog-friendly!) - highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Best barbers ever. I love this place. I've had my hair cut by most of the staff and all of them are awesome. Really great cuts plus all easy to talk to. The shop has a great vibe and has been set up perfectly. There are options to buy a beer even! Prices are really good and the location is central. Highly recommended.

Negative experience: I was contacted by a member of management after leaving a 1 star review having witnessed the manager themselves texting and driving down Colombo Street earlier this month in a sign written vehicle. Disappointed that my contact details were used in this way.

Negative experience: Really odd that Bennys Barber Shop calls private numbers after a bad review is written about their staff texting whilst driving and requests that the reviews be removed. Not okay! The review was left because the staff member did not care for the safety of others. Definitely think this matters!

Fantastic experience: Had a great cut from Loz yesterday, solid attention to detail, works quickly, good to yarn with. If you're not sure what cut you want, just tell her how long you want it and let her make the decision. You won't be disappointed. EDIT 30/11/23: Couldn't get an appointment with Loz when I needed, so I went with Jason for the first time. Very talented barber. We had a quick talk about what I wanted to do with my hair (nailed everything), got some great advice, and he's a good guy to chat with as well. Thanks heaps!

He worked his magic on my jungle of a hair and beard, keeping a chill attitude, giving helpful recommendations on what would look best and using the slightest touch imaginable to give the perfect hair cut. Benny's Barber Shop is the ideal barber. It's relaxed atmosphere makes it feel like a place you and the boys should be hanging out at. The staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable in their tradecraft. Benny's Barber Shop is the First and Last barber you will ever need. They put all the others to shame.

Negative experience: Went here for the first time after usually going to a different barber. Didn’t get a good look at the back of the haircut until I got home & discovered it was patchy & squared off. I had also booked in for a beard trim and was told that there “wasn’t time” so they couldn’t do that. Will not be returning as now I need to go to another barber to see if they can fix this.

Fantastic experience: Max faded and bladed, went in feeling like a hobo, and walked out feeling fresh. It was a good experience, the place has a really cool vibe, and I genuinely appreciate having somewhere to get my hair and beard sorted in evening hours.

We have tried several barbers around Christchurch and have had good cuts, but our cuts with Tae were the ones you leave the barber with a big smile on your face knowing that your hair looks sick! Both our first time with Tae but will definitely be returning to him from now on for our future cuts. Highly recommend

Negative experience: Had my haircut appointments with Loz, appointments were for half an hour, first time haircut she took her time and did a great job but then next two times, she rushed and finished the appointment in 15 minutes, she was just not there at all, received pretty bad service last two times, I won’t recommend booking haircut with her.

Tayne cut my mask, as well as ignoring everything I told him. He did not stop when he saw I was cRying because of how bad a job he had done. 0/10 would not recommend
