Negative experience: The barber that did my hair was so shit couldn’t listen and didn’t even now jow to do a simple blow out taper wouldn’t recommend go somewhere else and for forty dollars is so bullshit I would rather go to a cheaper place with better service and can cut better

Fantastic experience: No appointments needed, just walk in and let the fun begin. The atmosphere is chilled and easy-going with friendly staff, usually just one person who works the magic. The place is worth the wait, I often need to wait 20-25min if there is 1 or 2 person in front but I usually go early on the weekends to skip the queue. There is usually some parking available there so why don't you give them a go!

He always raves about how much he enjoys getting his hair cut at Wass Barber. The customer service is always 10/10, and he really appreciates the good chats and laid-back vibe. He loves just hanging out in the sun, waiting for his turn , it’s all part of the experience for him. He's been a loyal customer for years and has no plans to stop. Fantastic experience: Took my 3 year old to riccarton and it was so good! My son is scared of clippers and won't let any barbour use them but Wass had him using them happily within minutes! And then completed a mullet In approx just over 5 mins!! So good with kids and super awesome hair styler. Nice guy. 5 star for sure. Well priced too !! Defs our new barbour. I now take my son to Victoria Street. Went again today (11/05/2025) and service was excellent and the style and cut is awesome color at the end plus lollipops

Negative experience: Worst barbers in the world they messed up my hair so bad they made holes and I asked for just a bit off the top of my head and then he does the back and my hairline. My hair line was good at the start. And then he started it pushing the hairline back further and I regret going to this expensive trash haircut place. I want a refund right now give me my 40$ back.

Negative experience: The owner was not present today, so this is not a reflection of them. There was a different hairdresser today and he didn't speak much English. I was in line to receive my haircut, and the guy before me asked for a specific haircut. The hairdresser didn't really acknowledge it and ended up giving the wrong haircut. The customer was upset and expressed this. At this point I had no confidence so I left, it's unfortunate because I have had my haircut done by the owner before and had a great experience.

Fantastic experience: Personally got to meet the man himself today and was blessed with a beautiful haircut from him! I feel fresh and love my haircut brother, thank you Wass. Price is great for the service you get also! If you complain about $40 cuts, cut your own hair. God bless.

Negative experience: Guy working there was a bit rude, the haircut itself was fine. My problem is the cost, 40 bucks for a basic men’s cut. I only went there because Tony’s barber across the road is closed on Sunday’s next time I’ll just wait till Monday.

Negative experience: I’ve been here on multiple occasions now and there is always different barbers every time but I usually leave feeling reasonably happy….Until today. I was the only person in the Victoria Street shop when I arrived, however the barber rushed through my cut in about 10 minutes. When he was using the thinners they were literally ripping my hair out, either they were extremely blunt or he was not opening them before pulling away. After the cut he had showed me the sides with the mirror and from the chair it looked ok however when I got home I could see the quality was poor at best. Patchiness unfaded lines and uneven symmetry. Extremely disappointed I paid $40 for a $5 haircut and now have to pay to get it fixed somewhere else.

Negative experience: We’ve had such great haircuts here in the past for our 11year old. Unfortunately, today was extremely disappointing. Child and parent both asked that it be short at the back but long on the top. During the cut they indicated it was enough cutting but by the time the constant trimming and tidying up was finished, it was way too short. The fringe had also virtually disappeared. Very sad child. Perhaps in future, keep communicating during the cut to make sure request is understood.

Negative experience: I got a haircut from here and it was just horrible because the barber was not friendly did not want to be there got annoyed when I arrived for a haircut. When the haircut was actually done it look very bad and charged me $50 for just a quick 2 min trim.

Negative experience: I’m downgrading my review to 1 star!, very poor service, there was only one guy working at Victoria st, he was in a foul mood, looked like he hated being there, when someone else walked in he looked even more annoyed, wasn’t pleasant at all, ok I get he doesn’t speak much English but he could been polite, he was very fast with the trimmers, even leaving red marks on my neck after the beard trim!, won’t be back! Negative experience: I came here because the reviews were great, however the man we got on the morning of 29/06/24 did not make any conversation with my boy, the sides of his mullet were not done very well, his fringe has come out crooked, and instead of thinning out his long hair at the back like i had asked, he ripped a hair brush through it and blow dried his curls straight! I'm sure the other workers here are great, but I do not recommend the man we had.... sorry team.

Fantastic experience: Got my 5 year olds haircut here, he was very nervous about getting the clippers used on his head but the guys here made it a real fun experience for him. Let him hold the clippers turn it off and on and he even got to cut some of dads hair too who was in the opposite chair . By the end he smiling from ear to ear. Great service.

Fantastic experience: Have been coming to Wass Barbers Victoria St for years now. Chris has been cutting my hair every 4 weeks for roughly 1.5-2 years and he nails the fade every time. He is quick, precise and a great guy! Everyone in the barbershop is very skilled and friendly, all while their prices are very competitive. Wouldn’t go anywhere else!

Negative experience: Needed a cut while traveling and this had decent reviews, went in and firstly didn’t even look like it was open, had a cut and a beard trim, now my mullet is lop sided and heaps of hair still around my ears left uncut. Then the beard was so uneven even asked him to cut it shorter but said it looked fine? For $60 would have rather run the risk at a justcuts

Fantastic experience: The owner is a very nice man, great to talk to and has a talent like an artist when it comes to cutting here. I will certainly remain a regular as long as I live in Facebook. I definitely recommend people try it out as there is no reason to doubt the standard of their skills that's for sure. All those who work here do a terrific job and I am left satisfied each time. Negative experience: Worst haircut I’ve had in my entire life. Fade just isn’t there. Knicked a mole 3 times and made it bleed and just blew by it. Guy working was nice but I’ll never go back or recommend it.

Negative experience: This was my second visit as i believe they deserve a second chance from my first bad experience with them a couple years ago. I came in with a medium long hair and specifically asked for a simple basic low fade and just trim the top a little (couldn't go wrong right). Long story short, came out with a very high fade with a very uneven short top. Found out the very young guy was a trainee barber and had messed it up big time that the owner had to quickly step in and tried to fix my messed up uneven short hair. I'm all about giving newbies a chance but the haircut was extremely bad. Make sure to ask for an experienced barber (owner) or you will have to endure a very bad haircut.

Negative experience: headed into wass' barbers on victoria street, guy was in a bad mood had 0 chat was rushed and literally seemed annoyed to have to cut my hair. I asked him for a mid fade and told him I don't like the fade being too high and he said competently "no of course its a mid fade" he then set his line and I immediately knew he went high, was rough on the clippers and gave the top an "m" hair line.... got home and looked further and could still see the guide line he failed to blend out, probably because he faded too high and tried to make it seem not obvious at the time... all in all worst $40 spent, I wouldn't have minded as much if he didn't come off as rushed and rude.

Fantastic experience: These men are wizards, my partner hair was ruined by a barber earlier in the day, and these guys fixed him right up his mullet looks great both him and I are very happy. We also got a free a air freshner it smells devine.

Negative experience: I’m editing my review… My last two experiences (including my son’s haircut) was waaay below average.. to the point I am considering to shave my hair. The faded is totally crooked and kind of embarrassing… will take weeks to disappear.. Wass is one of the best barbers I’ve came across but haven’t seen him around for ages and every time you come to the Victoria St they have someone new… for people who needs to be presentable for work purposes, it is hard to trust… no consistency at all. Might not comeback. Even loving the no appointments system… My old review… 5 stars.. “Best haircut in the city. Wass and Bruno are great and the walk in experience is handling and easier! Quick and practical…”

Negative experience: The guy who cut my hair was friendly but super rushed. I had quite long hair which i wanted to get done quite a bit shorter. I sat for less then 10 minutes in the barber chair before he was done. When I came home i did a closer inspection of my haircut and found out that on both sides of my ears there still was quite some long hair which he didn’t cut properly. Not worth my 40$ sadly. I had go to another barber to fix the mess he left me with.

Fantastic experience: Had was Barbers call out to our house the morning of a wedding, back in March, to do groom, groomsmen and a few others hair. Awsome service and even gave a wedding guest a free beard trim!! Highly recommend and groomsmen enojoyed the novelty of the van turning up.

Positive experience: The bro rushed my haircut so much, that’s the fastest haircut iv ever seen someone do haha! There was a couple people in the line so I get not wasting time, but geez! The cut turned out okay, bit uneven in length. Felt pretty concerning/discouraging how fast he rushed to get to next person however. I feel if he spent a normal amount of time on it he’d do an amazing cut though! Perhaps on a different day it could’ve gone so :)

Negative experience: Came in on Saturday arvo. Barber didn’t even say hello. I was the only customer except guy getting a cut. Waited 10mins for him to finish the he said he was off on a break. Maybe he had a bad day but not exactly great service

Fantastic experience: Ladies buzz cut. Victoria Street Barbers. Since I work nearby I thought I'd pop in for my first post-chemo buzz cut to tidy up the new regrowth. I didn't really think about the fact that this is a barbers for men so there was a bit of a misunderstanding at first but the boys were so lovely and we had a good chat about it and they kindly made an exception for me. Not a service for ladies so I won't recommend for women but I'd happily recommend for guys. They were very nice and am sure would do a fantastic job for any of you blokes.
