Negative experience: My experience was terrible. Complaint not handled properly by Benjamin.Took over 11 months for my hair to grow back after a hack job. Pass! Note: I am sure he is on selling chopped hair for sale and himself. No integrity or compassion. Basically he came out of a backroom and instructions in foreign language to one of his stylist to cut my hair real short when I asked for a trim. Maybe he thought I didn't understand what he said, linguistics. Then he responded to my email basically calling me a lair. If there was a law or some way I could sue this fool I would. So if I could give this joint a zero outta five stars I would. Avoid!

Fantastic experience: My 4 year old son insists on coming across tow to get his hair cut here. He loves it. The barbers treat mine nicely, do a good job, make him feel important and give him a lollipop. It’s a nice place. They have a car chair for toddlers/preschoolers and usually do some cute funky shave designs for him

Negative experience: I just dont know whether they dont know how to cut or they dont understand what I say. Everytime I say that i will keep my hair long. But ended up having a really short hair and then they say it is long hair. And then I again went there making hair really long today. I said I want my hair long just cut from side and back. And again they made it short. It took 3month to grow them and they ruined it in 30min. Still saying it is long. It is perfectly setting. I do not wanted to set my hair. I wanted them to be long. He did not understand the simple thing. Not going there ever again. I would not recommend this saloon who wants long hair.

Negative experience: Unfortunately, I had a bad experience. I showed a reference photo and asked if the cut was doable — the barber said yes, but the result was completely different and poorly done. Months of growing my hair were ruined. I came back and the owner personally fixed it and even added a free beard trim — much appreciated. He’s very kind, professional, and clearly a master of his craft. The atmosphere in the salon is definitely a plus — relaxed, welcoming, and they even offer a free drink. But sadly, the person who cut my hair lacked the necessary skills. The place has great reviews and I had a good experience here once before — but you really need to be careful who you book with.

Negative experience: Asked for a super simple cut. Barber did not understand at all. Medium length on top, tapering down to a bit shorter on the sides. Even gave measurements. I specifically said I don't want it to look like a mullet yet he barely touched the back, leaving me with a horrific mullet. After trying and trying to explain what I thought would be a simple haircut, even showing photos, this guy just did not understand a single thing. I tried and tried to tell him what I wanted and to go shorter on the back and he just does not understand. I just gave up and said it was good and paid. The customer service was nice, the barber was nice, just a horrendously useless listener. Whatever you say to this guy would just go in one ear and out the other. Do not recommend if you want anything other than a buzz cut.

Despite him being scared and crying for most of the haircut (just his temperament nothing to do with the salon or staff) the lovely female barber was calm and managed to do a thorough and professional job. Fantastic experience: Raised in a family business of generations of barbers & hairdressers (50’s - 90’s) I can, without any doubt, say that my experience on Wednesday 19th Feb around 12pm …. was outstanding and beyond my imagined expectation!!!!! Every aspect of my experience was “on point”, the investment they’ve created at The Gap location towards the environment and level of service is something other local barbers need to take note and up their game! Following my very hidious experience at another barber in the same location, I had no reason to return to the area for a haircut, it just so happened I was at The Gap Village for another reason! However, I’ll now be returning for my 6 weekly haircut ‍♂️… again at Ben Scissorhands! My mediocre experiences over the past 5 years bouncing from barber in Brisbane has come to halt, finally! Detail detail detail, from start to finish, and no weight lines or shading in the fade at all, whatsoever… unlike my experiences elsewhere! In fact, the first thing I did when I stepped out was to call my husband at tell him to cancel his appointment this coming Saturday with the barber we’d been going to and make his way over to BenScissorhands instead (the one thing that had him hesitant is that it’s “walk-in’s only” whereas we’d preferred to make appointments so we can tick other boxes rather than sit and wait around on a Saturday morning)!! It’s fine, it’s worth it!

Fantastic experience: This is now my favourite barber shop. The staff are friendly and dedicated to their craft. There are comfy couches while you wait, and friendly dogs to keep you company. I was even given a nice whiskey to drink while I waited (it was a short wait too). The store has a great vibe and lots of interesting decor. The barbers did a great job cutting my hair and my teenagers hair. The price was cheaper than I expected! I'll be coming back here for sure!

Negative experience: I had a haircut by a female barber. The outcome wasn’t too bad, average, It wasn’t that delicate. In terms of service, we haven’t talked except the first time when she asked me what I’d like to do and most importantly, she didn’t show me how my hair looks in a mirror after the cut. When I walked out I regretted visiting here and paying that much. Service was poor.

Positive experience: Generally I' m happy there. The booking system sucks, as you can't search for your fav hairdresser. Place also has a lot of changes in their staff and I would rather follow my hairdresser around than to have someone else do the job every time. Today's guy had a cold or something. The place could be cleaner. The price is up there for not always consistent cut.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to Ben for my haircuts for the past 10 years and I been meaning to write a review for a very long time but never got around to it until now. I keep going back to Ben because he never ever fails to deliver a fantastic haircut. In my years prior to that I would find a barber who did a good haircut but they were always inconsistent and never consistent enough to keep me coming back for more than a year, thankfully I can't say the same about Ben. Ben is also very selective about the staff that he hires and every single one of them gives great haircuts too because they are trained very well by Ben, and that's evident in their work. Currently I always get my hair cut with Katerin, and she never misses! When she's not available I am more than happy to get a haircut with any of the other barbers because I have the confidence to know that they will give a great haircut too. Not to mention the great pricing that Ben has. He has easily been one of the best value for money barbers in Brisbane for the past decade, and I can say that for a fact. I think I have had my hair cut by all staff members ranging from new employees to Ben himself. They all have their own slight stylistic variations but I guarantee you will leave with a 5-Star smile on your face.

Fantastic experience: I've been to likely hundreds of Barber Shops around Brisbane over the years. A lot of great experiences but also a lot of terrible ones. I have no doubt that this is by far the best I've come across. I've been seeing Katerin for at least a year and I cannot commend her enough. She's such a sweetheart and an absolute master in her trade. I've never left un happy and always look forward to my return. I also commend the owner Benjamin, he often says hello and thank you when I come in. His care and dedication to his business really shows. His team all seem very happy and welcoming. Ben Scissorhands for the past year and a half, after trialling a few around the Brisbane area which had great reviews. Sadly, most of them were a let down. Ben Scissorhands is an excellent barber. They have always provided a high quality service and though a standard cut is a tad higher than average price, it is well worth it. 

There are a few barbers at Ben Scissorhands, and I have had a couple of them cut and style my hair - always at a high standard. But my go to is Santi. He has always been professional, kind and friendly. He is willing to go the extra mile for his customers. Santi has his own high personal standard, always willing to make changes as he goes or if something is not to your standard. I highly recommend his tapers! The business is great with kids too for boys haircuts. They have been able (as well as compassionate) to manage a screaming 2 year old whilst gently tending to his hair, and styling it beautifully too. Our son always talks about getting his hair cut (after the fact of course). Cannot recommend the staff at Ben Scissorhands highly enough - especially Santi. You will not regret a visit to the crew here. Cheers Santi, I will see you again soon.

Positive experience: Friendly barber but cut was pretty average - was more interested in watching UFC than styling hair. Ended up with the left side cut higher and not faded very well. Also charged extra for a zero fade cause he needed more time than a general hair cut yet was done in 20 minutes. Gave 3 stars as place had a nice Fitout and they were friendly but wouldn’t go back.
