Negative experience: Don’t go her unless you want your hair completely ruined. My husband had long curly hair and wanted an undercut, and Melissa completely ruined it. She took way too much off, way more than asked, and then made it completely crooked. Now he has to cut all of his hair off to fix it. 0/0 - what a disaster.

Negative experience: My husband went in there and got the worst haircut he's ever had. Fortunately his hair grows fast and we won't have to endure it for long. Went in there with a nice head full of hair, asked for a LOW fade and trim on top, came out with a freaking high and tight, buzzed hair all the way up, barely any hair on top. Pitiful.

Negative experience: I had a very disappointing experience at Floyd’s 99 Barbershop. I was left waiting for over an hour and 20 minutes, which is completely unacceptable. What made it even more frustrating was seeing multiple employees sitting around while I was still waiting. It didn’t seem like there was any urgency or concern for customers who had been there a long time. To make matters worse, I watched few people who came in after me get taken ahead of me without any explanation. There was no communication, no apology, and no effort to acknowledge the delay. It felt very unprofessional and disrespectful of my time. I understand that businesses can get busy, but customer service and organization should still be a priority. If there’s going to be a long wait, customers should at least be informed honestly and treated fairly. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I won’t be returning. I hope management takes steps to improve their scheduling, communication, and overall customer service.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been coming here for years now and always walk out satisfied. I have a bad habit of doing walk ins most of the time but despite having several different barbers, they are always great. Today I had Melissa and it was the best experience in a while even with how great my other trips were. We had a great conversation the entire time and the cut was on point. Already looking forward to my next visit!

Negative experience: Absolutely no customer service—at this location or across the company as a whole. After multiple issues over time, this visit sealed the deal: I won’t be back. I scheduled an appointment for a specific time for a reason, not so a walk-in could take my spot while I sat in the waiting room. When I approached the front desk to ask if my appointment had been double-booked, I was met with blank stares—no explanation, no accountability, and no attempt to help. Employees simply walked away, as if my presence was the problem. If there is management here, it’s either absent or ineffective, which may explain the chaos. What’s unfortunate is that Dalton actually did a great job cutting my hair on a previous visit—the only time my haircut at Floyd’s was done correctly. However, when asked why a walk-in was taken ahead of a scheduled appointment, his response was a shrug, as though it were no big deal. For customers who value their time, it is a big deal. Disappointing all around.

Positive experience: I’ve been going to Floyd’s 99 several times and usually get the Basic cut, but I’ve noticed some inconsistency with the fades. Some visits the cut comes out great, neat, and exactly what I wanted, but other times it’s uneven and doesn’t really look like a fade at all. The barbers are friendly and the shop is clean and professional, so it’s not a bad experience overall, but the inconsistency makes it hard to fully trust that I’ll get the same quality every time. I hope they work on making the Basic cut more consistent, because when it’s done well, it’s solid.

Fantastic experience: This is the best haircut we’ve had for our 10 year old son. The stylist doesn’t rush through his cut and he’s happy with the outcome as well as us parents which is a huge win.

Fantastic experience: I brought my son in for a haircut, and I couldn’t be happier with the results! Our stylist Devanny was absolutely amazing she was patient, professional, and made my son feel completely at ease. The haircut turned out perfect clean, stylish, and exactly what we wanted. (He asked for a fade) She really has a great eye for detail and clearly loves what she does. We’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for a skilled and friendly hairstylist!

Negative experience: I really debated writing a review because I feel responsible for not speaking up. I've taken my son here before, stylist Monica did a 10/10 job, but this time was completely different. I'm not sure the stylists name, but I should have shown more photos, and asked her to go slow with her cuts. Our young boy likes his hair long, which we worked all summer to grow out. I went in just asking for a trim to get his hair out of his eyes, and a bit off his neck. Needless to say, its completely gone. His waves are gone, his hair is above his ears, and sideburns buzzed off. Some of the layers are so short, they just stick straight up. I was so nervous during this experience that I just kept trying to see if she was going to fix it. I will try a different location and never return to this one. I could tell the did not like that I came in an hour before close, but my son is in full time therapy until 630pm, which is why I chose a barbershop that is open later. Lastly, I had a coupon for a free shampoo that stated, one time use, not to be combined with other offers, and one per customer, but I was told it wasn't valid because it's for adults only, which the coupon does not state. I am very upset with my son's hair, and now will need to pay another place to fix this before the school year starts.

Fantastic experience: I came into Floyd’s in McKinney for a quick shampoo and conditioner. I stood at the front, and Jaimie came over right away to see how she could help. I explained what I was looking for, and she absolutely delivered. From the moment I sat down, she was friendly, funny, and incredibly helpful. She even asked what water temperature I preferred. Something small, but it really stood out. She stayed professional the entire time and made the experience genuinely enjoyable. I recommend Jaimie!

Negative experience: We've had bad experience with this place before, but chalked it up to accidents and the like. Unfortunately, even after being told several times what length was wanted, my girlfriend's hair was cut way more than she wanted. Won't make this mistake again.

Negative experience: I’d been a regular at the N Austin location which I really liked a lot. Came to the one at El Dorado for a haircut today. They did not even do the services that’s included with a Floyd’s cut - no hot lather shave, no hot towel cleanup after the haircut. My hairstylist behaved like she didn’t want to be there. Not coming back.

Negative experience: If I could give 0 stars I would. I took my son here to get his LONG hair cut to a medium length style the day before he takes his drivers license picture for his 16th birthday. I told the lady it was cut wrong and uneven and way too short and she argued with me to tried to tell me it was just that she “added texture” and that was “the style”. Another stylist kindly stepped in to clean up what she could but the damage was done. I wanted to leave there before I blew up at someone so we left and since they did SUCH a BAD JOB, I took him somewhere else to try to salvage what we could before his picture at the DMV. My poor baby is embarrassed to go out in public. After his drivers license picture, we’re going to shave this disaster of a haircut. I’m so pissed. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!

Negative experience: My son and I showed up as walk-ins at 6:20 pm noting they close at 8pm. I asked if we could get haircuts and the they denied us stating they were “booked solid” noting there were only a few customers in the shop and I felt like I was being lied to because they wanted to leave work early. They advertise that walk-ins are welcome but certainly didn’t feel that and being lied to drove me to this review. If walk-ins aren’t welcome then they need to remove the advertising. I will not be giving them my business in the future.

Negative experience: OMG, I'm a laid back easy going guy nothing really bothers me except a haircut that's this bad. I was there at 9:00 with a appointment and haven't been here in over a year and I will never go back again just look at the pictures. The hard part is crooked and wide as my finger. The fade looks like my 3 yr old did it. Very disappointing.

Negative experience: I’m honestly shocked and deeply disappointed to hear that Ms. Marthi was fired for supposedly having a “bad attitude” and “not smiling enough.” This is absolutely baffling because my entire family adores Ms. Marthi—she is one of the kindest, most genuine people we’ve ever met. We’ve been loyal customers of Floyd’s on Eldorado because of her. In fact, my wife’s cousin owns a barbershop right in our neighborhood, yet we still make the drive to Floyd’s just to see Ms. Marthi. That’s how much of a difference she makes. She has always treated us with warmth, professionalism, and respect, and we’ve never once experienced anything resembling a “bad attitude.” If anything, she is the reason we—and so many others—keep coming back. Losing someone as special as Ms. Marthi is a huge mistake on Floyd’s part, and it’s disappointing to see such an amazing employee let go over something so trivial. This decision reflects poorly on management, and unless it’s made right, I don’t see a reason to continue bringing my business here. Floyd’s, do better. Sincerely, Mercado Family

Fantastic experience: I have been coming to Floyd’s for about 7 years and will never go anywhere else. Mostly now, because of Hector. He always gives me the best, most precise haircuts. I have been going to him for about 1.5 years and will get my haircut by him as long as he is at Floyd’s. I am somewhat particular with my hair but I never have to worry when Hector cuts my hair as it comes out 10/10 every single time. Thank you Floyd’s, and thank you Hector for your amazing service! Negative experience: Worst haircut and beard trim I’ve ever gotten. I came in with a full beard and left with it shaved close to my face. I wanted it shaped to my face and cleaned up. The barber took what I assume was about a 4 guard, and before I could say anything, shaved a huge chunk out of my beard. It’s practically stubble now. I am not happy about it. Also, been seeing a barber for 5 years now and I’ve never broken out on my neck. Wouldn’t recommend getting a cut by Hector. He also cut himself twice cutting my hair.

Negative experience: Called ahead of time to request a walk in, was met with a stylist who claimed they didn't do "long haircuts" (my hair is maybe 4 inches) so I had to wait, which I can't complain cause I did not have an appointment, but then got a very impersonal stylist who essentially wet my hair, shaved my neck, and then charged me 40$ without a word. Can't say I'll be back considering I could've done that for free.

Negative experience: I took my 13 year old here for a haircut. The stylist did not listen to instructions and before we could say no, he was using the clippers on his hair when he was asked not to. Mind you, my son has really long hair. This is right before the holidays, family pictures, and a wedding. This will be documented forever.

Fantastic experience: It was my first visit to the McKinney shop and the experience was terrific. I stopped in without an appointment. The shop was very busy but the receptionist said she’d get me in as soon as she could which was 15 minutes later! The stylist Audrey, was professional, friendly, and listened to what I wanted done. The shop is high vibe and the music terrific (who doesn’t love classic rock!). It was an all around great experience and excellent value!

Negative experience: Went twice - both times the stylists were not very nice and the haircuts were underwhelming. I get this place has a cool esthetic but it seems to be a fluffy front for mediocre service. Far too expensive for the results.

Negative experience: This saloon is so overrated in my honest opinion and experience! Firstly they don’t respect online booked appointments. And they don’t respect customers time. The hair experience I had, the worst experience.. u had to explain her multiple times but she ended up messing up my hair.

Positive experience: First visit. The hair cut was good and I liked the music vibe. The only thing I’m knocking it down for is the fact that I booked an eyebrow wax and the guy who the front desk person put me with didn’t do that. I had to wait 10min for another stylist who did waxing to finish her person. When I asked why didn’t they put me with her they blamed it on the computer system. Out of all the stylist only 2 do eyebrows so check who you book.

Fantastic experience: I got a full service haircut here with Kia and it was my first time at Floyd’s. I am very happy with the hair cut and also trimming my beard. He did exactly the same style that I asked for. From now on, I will always go to Kia for a haircut.

Fantastic experience: Pretty good. Generally I tell them what I want and they do what they think is right.......here, they LISTEN to what you want and do just that. Finally, I found a place to get my hair upkept. I'll be visiting at least monthly while I'm in the area

Fantastic experience: My husband got a haircut from Heather. I’ve never seen him look so good before. He left our house looking like he could take up a permanent residence underneath a freeway underpass and came home looking like he belonged on the cover of GQ. He said Heather was very polite, funny and held great conversation. Heather will be the only cutting his hair from now on because it was just that amazing. She did a perfect fade and I can tell this will be a haircut that will look good even when my husband styles it himself. We love her expertise so much that I would like her to be the sole hairstylist for our whole family. Including my daughter. I cannot RAVE about Heather enough. I wish I could give her 11 stars.

Fantastic experience: Was a walk in around 1530 on Monday and was able to be seated and trim started within 5 minutes by the talented barber Geena. She’s intuitive and was able to take my brief description of a needing to get back to my “drill sergeant” days; faded high and tight;‘short on top and trim down my beard which had become a duplicate of David Letterman’s uncontrolled white mess of hair. Geena did a super job; checking in as needed to make sure the cut was going as I asked; and ended the session with an unexpected, but enjoyable hot towel beard trim before my requested shampoo and hair massage. Her fingers did a great job destressing my thoughts and the shoulder massage was perfect for ending the cut and getting me ready to tackle the tradesmen and painters working on our home. Nice to have a local hair cut : barber in the neighbourhood that does a standout job. Made this retired Colonel and usually grumpy in the afternoon man - one happy gentleman ; ready to deal with the renovations and other duties associated with our repatriation from overseas. I will be back; and will be sharing Floyd’s 99 as a barbershop for my mates and neighbours to consider for their hair cut needs. Fantastic experience: I needed last minute beard trimming and the rep at this location was able to get me the stylist right away even at the closing time. Positive experience: RJay is really good I go to him for my haircuts he’s the best. Good socializing, only problem is the hair products seem a little pricey for some of the stuff I could make at home. Still great barber and I trust him to know what he’s doing.

Negative experience: Came in from out of state. i had an appointment set up, too. When we got in, we ended up waiting for 45 minutes and ended up leaving with the worst haircut ever!! I had to go home and fix it. Staff there are very rude also very short and seemed like they didn't even want to be there. Do better.

Negative experience: Came in at about 4pm on a Thursday, everyone seemed pretty on-edge and the receptionist didn't seem very happy either. Left my hair pretty much lop-sided, I came in just to trim it down but I'm going to have to cut it again just to correct it. Probably the worst haircut I've gotten since I stopped going to SuperCuts.

Negative experience: Easily the second worst haircut I’ve ever had. I asked for a low fade with about an inch and half off the top, what I got was 3+ inches taken off the top and my left side completely shaved. What makes it even worse is that the haircut took around 5 minutes so it’s not like the barber was trying. When I went into work this morning my coworkers asked if I cut my own hair, I guess I should have.

Negative experience: Been going here off and on for 2yrs. Very hit and miss, more miss. I've been getting haircuts every 3wks since I was 10. Honestly I've had better barbers at MCRD San Diego. For $23, you better have skills. Edgy hair, tats, and piercings does not a great barber make. I've been to shops in LA and Chicago where you are in the chair for over an hour because the guy takes pride in what he does for living for less $. These folks not so much. I think Floyd had a good concept, just need talent down the stretch. Second star for decent music. If you are a real barber (Jeremy's Dtown McKinney) and reading this, respect. On behalf of all the working stiffs, please consider extending your hours so we don't have to keep paying too much for not enough. Thanks Update. Gave this place another chance. Somehow its worse. What a joke. Its fantastic sams with better music. My “barber” did not know how to hold the clippers and actually had a local landscape tshirt on. Super classy. Times must be tough to keep people coming to work. Yikes.

Negative experience: Really heartbroken to be writing a bad review. I’ve been coming here for years, and the last haircut I received was one of my favorites, but this haircut was downright disrespectful. It’s not even salvageable. I just want my money back, but the manager will not call me back. Save your money for a nicer place. You might spend way more, but at least you’ll get your money’s worth.

Negative experience: UPDATE: went to another salon for a hair treatment....as they did it the stylist noticed how uneven, choppy, and bad the haircut was without prompting. Took a pic for me and it was worse than I imagined. Paid for another hair cut to just even it out. Also contacted the customer service for Floyd's as they asked and got no response lol WORST haircut of my life and I never complain about haircuts. I have been to Floyd's several times in the past without issue as the barbers/stylist listen (different locations). I came in for a TRIM. I literally said that to the girl booking me and the hair dresser a"trim" to clean up the dead ends and that I wanted to keep my length.She showed me how much she was going to cut off which was about an inch a half and I agreed. My hair was past my bra straps (I could reach around and grab it) and now barely crosses my collarbone. How does that happen?! I knew something was going wrong when she kept checking and rechecking and snipping more off like she was correcting things she messed up and more and more incjes came off. I should have stopped her there and went somewhere to get it fixed. To be honest, I would have settled for shorter hair IF it also wasn't the choppiest, uneven, worst layers. There are literal sections of my hair in the back shorter than the others- she definitely did not know what she was doing and winging it. It's totally okay to admit you can't cut girls hair. I had the longest hair and now I have a mom cut with about 5 step chunks of layers. Oh and it took 45 min for this. Won't be coming back to this location. Girl had long dark black/brown hair.

Fantastic experience: Wasn't happy with many of the chains haircut shops as it always felt like like being in the military. In and out, haircut might looks good for a couple of days. Tried Floyd's 99, booked online, when I arrived no wait time, hairstylist had to use a picture I showed to cut my hair. Three weeks later and still no complain. Overall good experience. Hence, I give it 5 stars based on the one time experience.

Fantastic experience: Went here for a clean-up. My hair is mid-length and shaggy. James was amazing and he perfectly evened up my mutton chops as well. Floyd's, James was awesome! Keep him on staff and you'll keep having me as a client!

Negative experience: Horrible barber shop. Bad customer service. Probably the worst barber shop I’ve ever stepped foot in. The barbers take their sweet time. If you make an appointment plan to wait 20-30 minutes after your appointment time before you even get a seat. Won’t be returning & will advise people to stay away. This is where the barbers who couldn’t make it go.

Negative experience: Someone needs to slap the owner of this place. It was great. Owner let key employees leave and now you show up with 2 barbers sitting in their own chairs and get told it’s an hour wait. TRAIN YOUR EMPLOYEES TO RUN YOUR BUSINESSES

Positive experience: I reserved my appointment online, was able to specifically choose who I wanted (James) and got my hair cut exactly the way I wanted plus had a very enjoyable conversation with him. I’m a woman and I know that most women go to get their hair cut at hair salons but I’m happy with Floyd’s and will be back. I don’t care if it’s a barbershop bc I know that I have always been treated very well each visit.
