Motown Haircuts For Men & Women

Fantastic experience: I have tried many places around town mostly the high end salons as I'm fussy but I just cant find anyone who can cut thick, bouncy hair and get it right every time. Both Mary-Ann and Julia have proved to be professional and reliable every time.

Fantastic experience: I love going to Motown, I go during my lunchtime which works in well, very little wait times. The ladies are always friendly and listen to what hair style you want. They also continuously check in with me during my haircut to see that I'm happy with what they're doing and are open to my requests. Very reasonably priced can't get a better price for $40-$45.

Negative experience: the worst haircut i’ve ever received, i asked for 2 inches off and with layers (i had long hair) she instead cut my hair into a long bob, with botchy layers, she cut off about 3 - 4 more inches than i asked. she didn’t double check with me if the length is what i wanted, she instead started cutting in the back, when she got to the front i realised how short it was. she also was wetting my hair, yet my hair has waves, so when it dried it was incredibly top heavy. she never made conversation with me either. i am not one to write a review, but this was honestly the worst haircut experience of my life and left me in tears.

Negative experience: If I could give it a 0 I would. Glares and no greeting on entry, after 5 mins another lady walked in, grabbed her vape, glared at us and walked out again. Meanwhile myself and my partner are sort of thinking maybe we needed to ask for an appointment? When the 'blonde' woman came bcak she was clearly agitated. I went to bring my son to sit down, and she gave me a talking to about not wanting him to cry coz it's stressful for her, and I straight up left. I can't get over how rude this woman was! My boy is pretty good on a bad day and he did let out a cry as I took his new toy to give to his dad. Well, that was it from her. No patience, no smile, just cold hard frost. So we just left without a word. I have really enjoyed my time at motown, but I won't be going ten foot near that place again. Rude, rude, rude.

Negative experience: My hair is uneven and results wasn’t what I wanted, wouldn’t recommend going here if you’re a girl wanting something more professional

Negative experience: I've been to get a hair cut a few times and always got a lovely lady who did a good job and payed attention to detail. So I thank her for that but I had a different lady today who did the worst haircut I have ever seen, first off I asked her to do a fade but she said that she couldn't do it because she could see as it was too dark??? it was 3 o'clock in the afternoon! So I ended up getting just a trim up and she sprayed my hair so much I thought I was taking a shower. When it came to the end of the haircut at which the hairdresser uses a hair dryer to dry off your hair, she pointed it in every directions but my head! most of the time it was just pointing at her arm. I almost fainted when I got the bill, $32 for a basic haircut, WAY over priced for this experience. WORST HAIR CUT EVER.

Negative experience: Took grandson for a haircut. The girl cutting it was rude and obnoxious towards my moko. I had to intervene and tell her he was autistic. Very rude about it. I went outside and mokos dad was there. Stylist continued to complain so my son also had to pull her in. There are many types of people in this world who have issues that are not your business. You are there to do a job not to judge. If you can not cope with children or adults with sensory difficulties you need to change direction

Negative experience: Very friendly and no wait time, but that's where the good stuff ends. Uneven cut, probably the worst I've had in whangarei, and the most I've paid for a men's haircut. I don't like to put up bad reviews, but I guess there is a reason there wasn't a line for a haircut.

Negative experience: Very disappointing! Rang to make appointment..Not needed..Well! Busy As..One guy cutting! NO Welcome..Waited 48mins..Left..Gutted! Went elsewhere & straight on seat No waiting. Negative experience: Incredibly disappointing- my daughter's cut is terrible- she asked for her hair to be layered & its so uneven with oneside having chunks taken out The hairdresser was in such a hurry to push through clients she even stabbed my daughter in the face accidently- terrible

Negative experience: I'm not someone to give bad reviews on businesses, but what happened to me here has to be a warning for other clients. I came in for a 1cm short trim and tidy up. The hairdresser (F) older woman, did not pay any attention to my request to leave my pony as is. In short: My hair was over cut. Left and right side were not even, like 3cm. Pony was cut. On the back there was a cut-out. My hair was sprayed with some Lysol or Dettol which was so smelly I had to wash my hair four times and even then the next day my rescue hair dresser noticed it. Payed 44 $ for the `'abuse". Comment from the hairdresser that fixed my hair the next day: " She must have been drunk" Please be aware when using this place.

Negative experience: Terrible experience. Never again.

Negative experience: Took my mother out for a special birthday date and decided to treat her to a fresh hair color and cut. This was also to celebrate that she received good news about her cancer. We sought out a few hair salons and decided on MOTOWNS. There was only one customer being tended too and staff were friendly enough. The hairdresser who was taking care of my mother listened intently to what and how mum wanted her hair done. Mum looked comfortable with her and so I left to carry on doing some shopping. Unfortunately, the hairdresser who took care of my mother mucked up her hair cut by doing the total opposite of the style my mum requested (trim and fringe). The hairdresser cut so much of mum's hair and then cut her fringe way to high. She then stained both of mum's ears, forehead and neck with black hair dye. Motown Hair had ruined my mother's special day

Negative experience: DO NOT COME HERE FOR A MENS CUT UNLESS YOU KNOW AND SPECIFICALLY CHOOSE YOUR BARBER. Completely butchered my hair, rushed my cut like she was shearing a sheep. If u want to get trimmed up by the flash and the result to make u not want to go in public this is the place to be.

Negative experience: struggling to find a decent haircut anywhere in town. Been to Brothers, Bank St Barbers and now Motown. Take a look at my fringe - dont remember it being hacked away by teeth?
