Negative experience: Walked in and was told to take a seat.. waited 20 minutes then the barber who told me to take a seat 20 minutes earlier asked if I had an appointment.. thing was, he just got off the phone to probably someone he knew that wanted a cut so he was just bumping me down the queue for what I think was a friend.. no sign that said appointment only just a rude little man. I will never go there again

Fantastic experience: Was getting the perfect cut as usual when out of the blue I was struck by a really bad wave of nausea. I really thought I was going to throw up but it quick succession a glass of water was produced for me, AC turned on, and a genuine concern shown for my well being. The nausea passed and the cut was finished without further incident. What an amazing display of customer service. Oh, they always do a good job too

Negative experience: Haircuts are alright, but every time I’ve booked an appointment I always have to wait an extra 15-30 minutes past my booked time, whether he’s having his “lunch break” in the back, or it’s just a busy day and they are behind on appointments. I’ve been late to places I need to be multiple times, and at my last appointment I was made to wait 25 minutes past my booked time, which resulted in me getting a parking ticket. Won’t be coming back.

Positive experience: I booked in for a burst fade and I’m happy with the results. Vicky had a good attention to detail and was very efficient with the cut. I can’t fault the haircut for the price, however I was a bit uncomfortable due to the lack of conversation in the chair. Aside from hello and discussion about the haircut, I didn’t feel very welcomed into the shop which felt particularly discouraging being a female customer. I always feel better going to a new barber knowing that I’m welcomed from the start and that effort is made to put me at ease. Unfortunately this experience has put me off returning.

Negative experience: I was charged $60 for a buzz cut and beard trim all of which only took 15 minutes. The clipper cut was OK but he did a very average job shaping my beard. You’ll find better for cheaper elsewhere in Whangarei.

Negative experience: Avoid! I had an appt at “The Barbers” on 16/05/2025. The guy who did my beard has absolutely butchered it to the point I’ll probably have to shave it off. I also got him to clipper around my hair line (he managed to do this okay). I then went to pay and he charged me $50!! ..I was literally in his chair for 20 minutes .. I was willing to pay the “zero fade” price but felt I should pay more as I wanted my hairline tidied up. I hadn’t booked in with an apprentice? DO NOT GO TO “THE BARBERS”.

Fantastic experience: My 8 year old is obsessed with planes so when he saw a cut with airplanes in the magazine at the shop, he asked to have that done. Vicky didn't have time that day but remembered and did it the next time we were in and was super patient the entire time, even answered my son every time he asked "are you cutting the plane now?" every 3 seconds beautiful cut, super happy client, highly recommend.
