Negative experience: Been having my cut by my local barber for 10 years, I recently wanted to try out this place. booked it a week in advance, and on the day got a text about an hour and half before from Kirkwood saying there has been a double booking, so have to move me another barber, and a couple minutes later texted me again saying the client has canceled so put me back with the barber I booked with. When I arrived on time, the barber was doing some cleaning and asked me to sit down and wait (I didnt arrive early or late, I arrived on the spot). After about 2 to 3 minutes he attended to me. The cut was in a really hurried manner. 2 days after the cut, I realized the front was not evenly cut, like there is one bit on one side that is longer. I had to tidy it up myself..do not recommend and will never go back again. In reply to the owner: This review reflects my experience accurately and in full. Have a good day.

Fantastic experience: I took my son here for his regular haircut… I was a bit dubious as I spend lot less on mine …. And he’s only 11 … However, the space was very cool the Barber’s Impeccably presented and I could not be happier with his haircut…. Ian was incredibly relaxed and professional … There’s been a few rogue haircuts with my son in the past wanting these super style haircuts that require a bit more attention than he’s been giving…. Thinking I was going to have to step in and helicopter the whole experience I simply gave Ian the rundown and he absolutely nailed the brief and gave my son an education in style that I seem to fail at and had him thinking by the end of it that his haircut was his idea there’s a tip option when paying at the counter that I did not hesitate to to push… Highly recommend!! I had one of the best conversations and haircuts with Ray, one of the barbers. I’ve been looking for a good barbers for a while and have had some traumatic haircut experiences recently, so I gave Kirkwood Barbers a try — and I love it. Everyone seemed really good at cutting hair and they’re always booked out for a reason. One of the best fades I’ve had in a long time. Will definitely be back again. Thanks team.

Negative experience: Not what I wanted at all. I had to go home and salvage the cut myself with scissors, which is ridiculous after paying $50. The top was rounded off so much from how it was originally that I look like an egghead now. It’s really upsetting when someone says “take as little length off as possible” why do some barbers still hack away at hair that’s taken ages to grow? These guys aren’t experienced barbers despite appearances, and the $50 price for this result is what bothers me so much. I basically paid to look at a bad haircut in the mirror for the next few months until it grows back. If the barbers read these reviews, ask yourselves this: if someone has a round and short head shape, why would you cut their hair to make their head look even rounder? Or did you just mess me up on purpose? NEVER CHEAT ON YOUR ACTUAL BARBER, EVEN JUST FOR A “QUICK CLEAN UP”

Negative experience: Today we took our 13 month old for his first haircut there and it was just the worst. They are not equiped to cut a toddlers hair AT ALL. No high chairs, nothing to entertain the baby and obviously 0 experience with it. First of all we were 10 min late, and the "expert" barber was visibly annoyed and said that he would normally turn us away and I am sorry that he didn't. Our baby was upset and cried the whole time, and was moving around... Because HE IS A BABY! That made the "expert" even more visibly annoyed. He asked his dad to hold his head, which made him cry even more. The haircut is absolutely TERRIBLE, choopy, uneven and just plain ugly. I am so sorry that we chose Kirkwood for our baby's first haircut, what was supposed to be a fun experience ended up being a traumatic one for everyone involved. Unprofessional and unkind.

Fantastic experience: I dislike taking my Son to barbershops as sometimes the environment is not comfortable for a young mum but I’ve found Kirkwoods Barbers to be very professional. I’ve never had any problems, and my son has always had great cuts. The barbers know what they’re doing and suggest styles if I need help understanding male cut styles. I love that you can book so you’re not waiting around for a long time. We will keep coming back for sure.

Negative experience: Need to book appointment, which was easy to do. However, price is a bit steep for a simple kids hair cut .

Negative experience: I went to TK and asked for a low drop fade, and came out with a mid/high drop fade. Came out very disappointed with his performance. Also charged me $60 when the booking said $50

Negative experience: Called in at 11:30 to see if there was a booking and was told 12:30 so I spent an hour in the area and showed up 10 minutes early. Sat down and waited for 40min just to be told they don’t have me on the booking. I get that mistakes happen but just very disappointing that I spent all that time mid day on my weekend just to walk away with nothing. Staff did apologize but they couldn’t come up with any solution for the situation. I was looking forward to trying these guys out as the reviews seem good but maybe they need to revise their booking system

Negative experience: Came here for a haircut a few months ago and honestly it might’ve been the worst service I’ve ever received. I was the first customer of the day but my hair cut was done in less than 25 mins so obviously the job was rushed. Staff was friendly (European Greek guy cut my hair), premises was nice and clean but don’t let the bougie exterior fool you. The barber told me about how much emphasis he put onto lining up the hairline but as soon as I walked out of the barbers, the wind/ weather made it look like he didn’t do a thing. And to top all off, he asked me if I wanted to try some hair powder and I said yeah sure I’ll give it a try and if I like it I’ll buy some more (thinking that he would use some product on my hair so I could actually see what the product does) but instead he charged me an extra $25 on top of my haircut fee for a product that I’ve never used? And you guys have the nerve to leave a tipping option after all that? 1/10, first and last time I’ve been, Kirkwood barbers are so overpriced and overrated. I’ve had better haircuts in a friends garage for $15 lol

Negative experience: Got my haircut a couple of days ago. asked for a mid fade and to keep the back of the mullet. The person who cut my hair left the back which was good but he gave me a low taper fade instead. I was not upset as it looked all good but i asked for just a little bit off the fringe and a bit of texture. A significant amount was cut off my fringe and he cut it very thin with no texture at all. Worst off all the sides of my fringe were much higher than the front of my fringe making it look very awkward. My first cut here at kirkwoods was pretty good but this was my second and I was pretty pissed off. it’s gonna take atleast 3 weeks to grow back into an alright length and thickness cut. Not happy

Kirkwood's is the only place he trusts to cut his hair. A friendly, efficient team. Whenua is an awesome barber, and clearly a great leader of his team. He has such a calm, warm presence. My 10 year old son loves his cuts with TK at Kirkwood's too. Just rebooking and thought I would take the time to write a review while I am at it!

Negative experience: Just here to share my experience no hate at all. Booked in a skin fade/beard trim hair colour/bleach 8am appointment on my way there was contracted via phone that I won’t be getting the hair colour bleach?no reason given just couldn’t be done was alg with it was greeted by my stylist on arrival got str8 into it asked for a French crop top mid fade all was going well an thought wow this guy is good after the cut I noticed my c cup on the left was messed up an he went a lil to high on the sides on the site it said $80 for the skinfade beard trim but I was charged extra $10 on top maybe I missed something an if I did then I apologise would I go back yea of course I will just won’t book with that specific stylist again not going to name the stylist cause that’s of character will def give it another go.

He said the barber was very professonal and fast with his hands. He said he asked for a low taper on the sides and he got a very nice cut.

Negative experience: Lunn Road Kirkwood Barbers I didn’t realise that you needed an appointment to have my hair cut- they DON’T do walk-in’s. So felt really foolish when told by the owner Sorry you need an appointment and in front of customers too!’ Won’t go back

Negative experience: Had a very unpleasant experience here a week ago. I got a haircut with Plaire and asked for a trim on the top and low fade on the sides. This was the most pain I’ve ever felt on a fade to the point my sides were super red when I got home. He also did a side part line with the clippers, however, he unfortunately made a whole in the mid part of the line which I now have to cover with hair. My girlfriend decided to come with me and sat on the chairs behind. Plaire was very inappropriate with comments whilst he was cutting my hair, as to how I managed to get a girlfriend like that and random questions like if she was Brazilian, and he kept mentioning that she was very fine. I know I should take this as a compliment but when I go into get a haircut, it’s not really what I want to listen to. Unfortunately I will not be returning!
