I showed Cammy pictures of how I get my haircut and beard trim in the states and he was able to deliver the similar and even better result. Fantastic experience: After an extensive search in Auckland for the best barber, I've been fortunate enough to find Gents & Rascals, specifically Josh who always works diligently to show a warm openness to clients as well as a laser-focus while in the chair. I've been consistently going to see Josh for a year now for a cut and a clean shave and have never left disappointed. His attention to detail is (in my experience) unparalleled. I make it a point to travel into the city (from the shore), and pay crazy rates for parking just to feel well taken care for at this establishment. Would highly recommend!

As soon as I sat down in Emily's chair, I realized I would not be subjected to yet another cookie-cutter haircut. Emily truly heard my requests and integrated her knowledge to achieve a much better outcome tailored specifically for me. Her consultation felt like a collaboration. Emily studied my hair before cutting it, explaining the factors that contributed to her strategy, including my hair texture, head shape, and facial structure. When she told me, "Trust me—we’ll keep it sharp but wearable," I decided to trust her. I am grateful that I did. Equally impressive was the $65 service, which included a luxurious shampoo and conditioner, a warm rinse (the massage combined with the eucalyptus-scented lather was surprising), and a meticulous haircut, final touch of product whisked in just the right amount was added to make my hair supple yet stiff. The space itself mirrored the professionalism: polished leather seats, gleaming mirrors, and an almost ritualistic cleanliness (I watched staff sweep stray hairs between clients) framing the sleek, masculine, brushed, lined, and polished areas. The tools used were top-tier. There was no tugging, no uneven snips or washes, just smooth, confident strokes. As I was leaving, a smile broke across my face, and I ran my fingers through my hair. For the first time in a long time, my haircut was actually done properly. Now, I am a lifetime customer of Emily and Gents and Rascals. If you’ve been anywhere and left a barber chair feeling almost but not quite satisfied, book here and you will no longer remember other places.

Fantastic experience: Came in with Long hair looking for a change. Was very nervous about the whole thing but they did everything perfectly. Couldn’t be happier with my new cut. You have to sit and wait which is to be expected at any barbers. Then through for a wash and cut Because I was going so much shorter he really took his time and made sure I was happy with the direction we were going with the cut which gave me a lot of confidence going shorter. To finding someone who actually cares and pays attention to detail especially in this field is hard to come by but Laura has it all. She makes sure you know what you’re going to get so no miscommunication occurs. Once the haircut begins, her focus is on the prize, making sure you’re clean cut and fresh to carry on your day. This is a mighty fine establishment that prides itself on presentation and preservation of this art.

The experience is always exceptional – everyone is great however Laura in particular, is nothing short of sensational, she really takes her time to ensure every detail is perfect which results in the best haircuts. Its apparent that Laura takes a lot of pride in her craft and her attention to detail truly sets her apart and I always walk away very happy every time. Parking wise they are attached to the downtown car park, so it is super easy to find a car park and get to G&R’s without the need to even go outside which is great in winter. You can also whip through to Commercial Bay across the undercover walkway so a brilliant location to boot if you want to go grab a coffee or do some shopping. I highly recommend Gents and Rascals to anyone looking for a top-notch haircut. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.
