I didn’t have to explain much about how I wanted my haircut – he understood me instantly, and I was beyond satisfied with the result. The transitions are smooth, there are no uneven spots, and the length is exactly as I wanted – not shorter, not longer. Eric is not only a true professional but also a great conversationalist. So, if you’re looking for an exceptional haircut and maybe a good chat about life, this is the place to go. A solid 101/100 – highly recommend!

1 year ago Negative experience: Entered to see staff sat around chatting, no problem there whatsoever, the problem was that it was clear the barber was eager to return to his conversation and therefore rushed my hair to an unbelievable degree. Sat down and gave my request with a couple of reference photos and let him get to it, at multiple points stopped to ask if things were finished when it was clear further work was needed (Length/fading), Force and speed in the use of equipment was near painful at points, Results unsatisfactory

2 years ago Negative experience: Amateurs! Had to go elsewhere to have hair sorted. Went here with my son in August. Music basting with inappropriate language. Barber totally butchered my hairline so I had a bald line running from each ear to forehead. When I went to another barbers the next day the guy in front of me was also having a Groom For Men disaster rectified.
I’m really sorry about your negative experience. We like to let you know we do everything possible to be better and learning of a mistake thank you.

We just walked in without an appointment and he was helped straight away. 3 years ago Fantastic experience: My friend recommended it and eventho it's 25 min walking from where I live, 0 regrets, would do it again. Everyone was really nice, specially Nahim, who cut my hair and beard. Was really professional and fun at the same time, you could see that he knew what he was doing. They even offered a beer, which has never happened to me and it felt really good. Even told me some spanish he knew (I'm Spanish) and was quite impressed. Really recommend it!

3 years ago Fantastic experience: Honestly Billy Palmer has to be one of the best barbers in Cardiff. I came in for a mullet cut and got exactly what I asked for. Furthermore he paid close attention to all the details and took time to shape my hair to fit my face. Mullet cuts are not easy and are not forgiving in the event your technician doesn't know what they are doing, but Billy was a complete superstar. If I could I would give him 10 stars.

3 years ago Negative experience: Booked an appointment for an eyebrow wax for 3pm. When I got there, I was told the waxer had gone home in the morning. When I asked why no one called to tell me, I was accused of being cheeky. It is nice for a narcissist to gaslight me. Good experience.

3 years ago Fantastic experience: My hair was an absolute disaster due to having a go at it myself, also want to point out that I’m a lady which I know isn’t their usual clientele. Walked in with my partner with the idea of just getting my hair shaved off all over to grow out my hair again, not having high expectations and thinking my hair wasn’t going to be fixable. A lovely guy called Louis offered to see if my hair would be salvageable instead of just going for the big chop. He took so much time and care and listened to my issues with my hair. Both barbers in there were very knowledgeable, I’m east asian so my hair type is different, he took that into consideration too when cutting my hair. Very happy experience, super lovely guys and very friendly, had lots of laughs and didn’t feel awkward at all as you can imagine being a lady walking into a barbers can be quite daunting. 100% would recommend. Big thank you to Louis and Eric! :D

However if you want a really top quality cut where the barbers take their time to understand you and what would look best for you, this is your place. They have recently changed owners and I must say the quality has really improved. I have been going for a few years now and have immediately noticed the difference. My barber for the day was Eric. He offered me a bear as I came in and on a hot day like it was, it was very welcome. Very friendly and approachable. Very talented, he suggested some changes to what I asked for because he thought it would look better, and my faith in him was rewarded. I came out of the shop with the best haircut I have ever had. 1 week later, I have still recieving compliments from friends and colleagues, all asking where I had my hair cut. Thank you Eric.

3 years ago Positive experience: Customer service was great, offered bear and went to buy water down the road for those who wanted. Nice and chilled conversation while having the cut. Cut was clean and quick. Did have to wait 35mins over my booking (only reason I'll take a point off) although did seem to be 1 staff down. Said he's looking to get a coffee machine in which would be great.

3 years ago Fantastic experience: Moved to Cardiff, so needed a new place to get a fresh trim and this barbers caught my eye because of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle in the window and the electric guitars that adorned the back wall. As soon as I went in I got offered a beer whilst I waited so my first impression was obviously a good one After a short time I sat in the chair and explained my usual cut, my barber Lewis knew exactly what I meant and preceded to do an excellent fade, cut and lined shave. Friendly, quick and professional. I’ve found my new barbers!!!!

3 years ago Negative experience: There’s better places! (Walked out and had to go to the barber down the road to sort it out) Shame really, guy was super nice, good banter, great looking shop, beer offered with service, however I really wanted a number 1 high fade but the barber said no let’s do a 0.5 mid fade which I know is too short for me as I have scars I don’t want shown in the back of my head, felt like I was trying to ask for what I wanted but that’s not what the barber wanted to do, also wanted the top shortened and thinned, however he just used the clippers to fly over the top, no scissor comb used, hair was just as thick but now uneven, didn't blend the sides into the fade using scissors over comb (basics) , no thinning scissors were used, no product put in the hair / offered, no fine line tidy with a razor, left hairy as no brush down service, think this may have been rushed as there was a guy waiting who had an appointment, shame really as the guy before me had a really nice cut (but then the time was spent on it)

4 years ago Positive experience: Would love to get a haitcut but they arent open despite allowing me to book for 9:30. Disorganised. After receiving a call back the next day they explained it was due to having the morning off but it not being booked through the system, so I booked when there was no one available. They offered me another appointment so I cant say they haven't tried to make ammends. The barbers are friendly, and make you comfortable. Review up from 1 to 4.

5 years ago Fantastic experience: Visited as usual for a gents waxing, have always used the same venue to do so in Cardiff as its always been amazing service since my first visit in 2017. Dewi is always great! As I had the time on this occasion and it was much needed, I decided on a haircut pre wax and available online was Charlotte, when I arrived there was a sign infront of the chair explaining she was new. Ive left feeling really pleased with the service and cut, something I dont do every time! She was great, listened to what I wanted and has given me exactly that! Had a nice chat and gave a relaxing haircut. Thanks to Matt aswell, always welcoming as usual when you first come into the shop! Great place!

What can I say, he's never cut my hair before but he cut it better than my usual barber in London...awesome haircut in not that long time. Highly recommended. 7 years ago Fantastic experience: If you don't like waiting and taking your time, then this is probably not the place for you. But if you don't mind waiting for half an hour, staff is very friendly, they offer hot and cold drinks (including beer!). I have never been disappointed with my haircut and this is the only place I go.

7 years ago Positive experience: Bring my son here for his haircut and even though we spend atleast an hour here each time it is an enjoyable experience. The staff are lush and welcoming. You can have a variety of free drinks as you wait and there is always lovely playlist pumping. The barbers are very good at their job, my son is always very pleased with his cut.

7 years ago Fantastic experience: Great service no need for booking.but can be a bit of a wait of busy. Discounts offered after first cut. Complementary drinks given hot and cold. Good music and vibes. Barbers can be chatty or silent depending on how you engage them, very friendly and approachable.

Got seen to straight away by Mikey and had a really top haircut and a nice chat. He didn't rush it and got my hair and beard done and the fade was awesome. 10 years ago Negative experience: The shop looked cool and being able to play Fifa and have a beer whilst we waited was great. However the actual haircut was average at best, the guy who cut my hair, seemed to be rushing it and made no attempt to strike up conversation and he was supposed to be the manager, they have focused too much on the aesthetic and not enough on the quality. Will not be going back unfortunately.

10 years ago Fantastic experience: I have been going to Groom for Men for a few years now and always had great service. In the passed I have always used the shop on Crwys Road but recently started using the shop in Penarth as I have moved. Glad to say I have received the same high standard of service and hair cut every time. Shane has always cut my hair when using the Crwys Road shop and it was nice to see a familiar face this time in the Penarth shop. Value for money and you can have a beer while you wait!

12 years ago Fantastic experience: Yep can confirm good place to go, being new to cardiff I was looking around for a good quality cut at the right price. You can pay loads more elsewhere if you want for a cut that might not be as good. A year on and I thought I would add still excellent value for money a nice touch too with the offer of beer while you wait.
