Fantastic experience: After years of trying to find the right barbers, I’ve finally found the one. I want to thank Kerri (owner/manager) and her team for the vibes and the passion they have into cutting hair. They don’t only love cutting hair but they are also brilliant at it. These guys know what they’re doing and with the experience they have they will for sure find the right hairstyle that suits you. I’ve always struggled With how to style my hair, what suits me and as a person who’s scared to try out different styles these guys have gave me the confidence to experiment and find what suits me after their results. They always help me with advice on products I should use and just the experience and atmosphere makes me feel comfortable when getting a cut. 10/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Most left me disappointed — until I stepped into Equinox. They do everything you need from mens hair to beard. I use Ted and he may be a junior stylist, but don’t let the title fool you — he’s got hands like a pro. The vibe in the shop was chill, welcoming, and real — no egos, just skilled barbers doing their thing. I’ll definitely be back. I've spent double the cost of a haircut at equinox for worse haircuts on multiple occasions at different barbers. Kerri is one of the most professional, highly skilled and kind people I've ever had the joy of meeting in the service industry. Fantastic experience: I was visiting Southampton for a few days and in desperate need of a decent haircut after a series of disappointing experiences where I live. Booking an appointment with Kerri at Equinox was an absolute blessing. The online booking system is very user-friendly, offers clarity around the process, and deals with the £ side so it’s one less thing to think about. From the moment I stepped in the door I felt relaxed and ease. Kerri is an extremely helpful, professional but also friendly hairdresser. She really took time to get to know my hair and to produce the cut that I wanted. I left feeling 100x sharper than when arrived. The price point is fair for the quality of service you get. Well worth a visit if you are a local or a visitor like me!

Fantastic experience: I recently moved to Southampton in March for work, and had that classic anxiety of looking for a new barber, after being with the same one for almost 10 years. I saw the quirky decor of Equinox, and thought I would give it a go. Booking online was super easy, and payment is taken 24 hours before, so you can book in advance and not worry about paying until nearer the time. The lovely team greeted me when I arrived, I relaxed in The Lounge, and right on time, Ted came and welcomed me into the chair. Ted was really chatty, and you could tell he was passionate about hair and very knowledgeable. He was chatty, kind and welcoming to me as a new client. He gave me a great haircut and was really happy with the style. Will 100% be back for my next cut. Think I have found my new local here in Southampton. Might even treat myself to a Peroni from the bar on my next visit.

Fantastic experience: Equinox is absolutely fantastic, been going for around 6 months now where I get the package of a hair cut (fade) and beard trimmed and styled by Kerri. Everything is top notch, the cuts are always brilliant, the booking system is really convenient, the packages are good for combining hair and beard and the overall atmosphere is perfect. To say the chat and advice from Kerri has been invaluable would be an understatement! Well worth it and highly recommended

Fantastic experience: The appointment booking system they use is perfect for me - I can choose from the slots that my usual stylist is available - for a Duo hair + beard. Money is taken 24 hours ahead, meaning when you’re finished you can jump up from the chair and just go. Kerri is very passionate in her craft and is a true expert; having initially seen her with a huge bushy beard that I didn’t know what to do with, she produced a brilliant manageable style that we took photos of, and each time I return she restores it to that state. I’ve been a few times now and each genuinely feels like a treat. So yes, the price is a reflection of that, but you get what you pay for in the experience. The atmosphere is calm, with music at a low level so that the stylists and clientele don’t need to raise voices over it. The conversations are gentler, more interesting and less sweary than your usual men’s barbers. While there may be men’s retro luxury iconography all around you; moustachioed fellas on illustrated posters, whisky paraphernalia, stag antlers; there’s no toxic masculinity in sight. If you normally find going to the barbers a tiring show of fitting in, you can be yourself here. The waiting area has brown leather Chesterfield armchairs, an action film playing, a mini fridge of drinks and a coffee pod machine. There’s even a guitar, an Xbox and a stack of games - not that I’ve had a chance to occupy myself with them yet because they’re always running on time. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: I wanted to share my experience with Equinox. Following a long search for the best barber / stylist in Southampton, Equinox came recommended to me by my friend. I booked in for an appointment with Kerri, expressing my desire to go into a longer haircut, and not being sure how to do it, and wanting a small consulation / guidance as to how I could achieve my goals. During my first visit, Kerri sat down with me, looked at photos that I provided, and talked to me about what I would need to do to get to where I want with my hair. I found Kerrie's expertiese to exceed everywhere else I've gone so far, which made me quite happy and satisfied to have spent the amount of money I did - £35 - which admittedly was more than I was used to. However, as Kerrie knew what I was going for, she effectively banned me from going in earlier than after 6-7 weeks have passed which makes it clear that she is genuinely working to get good result for her clients and not there just to get money. For anyone looking for a pleasant and skilled stylist/barber I can thoroughly recommend Equinox.

Fantastic experience: This is perhaps the best hair salon I’ve ever had the pleasure to visit. Been with them for years and intend on having my future children carry on the tradition. My work requires me to travel the world and invariably I end up getting hair cuts from different cities and I have to say I’ve never come across someone like Kerry. This promising young woman is extremely unique in that sense and may just be the best in the entire world. Her attention to detail, her extremely high skill-set, and her love for the profession is par excellence. Positive experience: I'm not normally one for leaving negative reviews but this hair cut has frustrated me The skin fade is fantastic, by far the best fade I've had in a long time However when the barber started to work on the top, I asked him to just cut off the tips of my hair, to remove the bulk and bring back the curls in my hair as it had gotten quite heavy and flat. He then proceeded to cut off about an inch of hair across the whole head, which has now cut out all my curls and left me with very odd flat hair with tufts on the side that are too short to stick flat. Luckily it's slowly starting to grow back but I now need to start the long process again of building up the length on the top to allow me to get it Permed again to be able to bring back the loose curls

Fantastic experience: This has been the best barbers I've found in 12 years of living in Southampton. Kerri consistently give the absolute best hair cut I've ever had. Service is top notch and the environment is always welcoming and fun. Street parking is always available directly outside, and doesn't cost much more than a quid, so easy all round. Would 100% recommend!

Fantastic experience: The service and results at Equinox are always incredible, the team are always professional and have great knowledge, experience and products. The surroundings are really unqiue and the vibe is awesome. The bookings are all taken online so the payment is automatically taken after your appointment, so its way less hassle, and their waiting area is comfortable with a full stock of amenities as well. I always take my bookings with Mia - she's got loads of experience with what looks the best and I'm always happy with the results. The prices may be a bit higher than most other places, but its really all worth it for the results and the experience.

Fantastic experience: Cannot recommend highly enough! I booked in for a full restyling with Kerri after a friendly email chat about what I might want. I was a tad nervous knowing that I was likely going from long hair to something much shorter and very different. But immediately, the place felt comfortable and welcoming. Kerri was brilliant. Had a nice chat about what might work and then very much just let her do what she thought would be best. And it turned out brilliantly. Best haircut I have had, and I will definitely be going back. You can tell that a lot of care and thought goes into the work at Equinox. The apprentice Charlie then trimmed my beard and also did an absolutely brilliant job, for a steal of a price. Fantastic experience: I’d been searching for a decent hairdresser since I moved down to Oxford Street last year. After hearing so many great things about Kerri and the team at Equinox, I decided to give them a go. I received a warm friendly welcome as I walked through the door. It’s clear that the team have a passion for aesthetics and that shines through as soon as you get there. Though clearly a professional, chatting to Kerri as she got to work felt like talking to a friend I hadn’t caught up with in ages. Fantastic experience: I decided to get my beard trimmed and this place popped up on a Google search. The Old Fashioned barber look is great, they have a bar and comfy gentleman's chairs to sit and wait in. Mia was my stylist, and she did a great job timing my beard so that it kept its length but had some shape. Beard trim cost £19 and it was easy to book online. So be going back for another shape up.

Fantastic experience: Kerri and her team are an asset to Southampton. My previous barber of 10 years moved north leaving me to find someone I can trust with my hair (I'm very particular) I spent the subsequent 10 months trying all the barbers in a considerably large radius of my house, all of which left me disappointed with either shoddy haircuts or just a poor customer experience. That's when I found Equinox Southampton, it's a 40 mile drive for me, taking 50 minutes with no traffic, but it is 100% worth it every time. The booking system is clean and efficient, the staff are friendly and welcoming. There's a very cool waiting area with a TV, games console, refreshments and WC. Most importantly the services are top tier, my beard trim, skin fade and scissor cut are always on point.(My girlfriend agrees!) The experience at this establishment is consistent and how it should be, flawless. Equinox Gentleman's Refinery Barbers have earned my custom indefinitely.

Fantastic experience: Many years ago I was a regular at Equinox, I moved to London for a while where I went to Ruffians, and eventually post-COVID I've come back and the service is as great as ever! There is now an app too for booking, which could do with some development and gaining/redeeming of loyalty points, but being able to see when Claire is free real-time is fantastic and allows me to juggle my calendar. I cannot wait for hot towel shaves to come in again as this is an extremely rare service to find at such a high quality in Southampton.

Fantastic experience: Love this hairdressers, first used it when I was staying in ocean village and even now I’ve moved over 300 miles away, I still book in every 5/6 weeks. I’ve never had a better haircut, but I also love the chat and friendliness of the staff, we all love dogs. It’s worth it just for the social and the great haircut is a bonus…

Fantastic experience: Contemporary Barbers… high end finish and attention to detail. Full re-style, long hair cut off, showed reference material of hairstyle I wanted and Kerri nailed it. Considering she hasn’t cut my hair before the brief I gave was exactly what I walked away with… In addition smartened up my beard, straight razor edges with an exemplary finish. Worth it? In my opinion yes… I get my hair cut every 4-6 weeks which is 10-12 times a year. I’ve been to over a dozen barbers in Southampton, looks like I’ve found my spot. Fantastic experience: Equinox are in a league of their own. Aside from the perfect haircut every time, the staff at equinox are genuinely lovely which is immediately obvious when you walk in. The atmosphere in the shop is brilliant and very accommodating. Claire cuts my hair and within 2 minutes of being in the seat with her the first time, I knew I would be a repeat customer. She took the time to learn and get to know my head of hair, all the fine details and preferences , which ultimately leads to amazing results. Price wise, you will find cheaper barbers in town but don’t scrimp on what matters - you pay for what you get! The booking system is also really easy to use and super convenient.

Negative experience: Usually excellent. Started experiencing feverish symptoms overnight before appointment and didn’t want to risk making anyone ill so called to reschedule. Was told that I had to pay again for a new appointment. Totally understand why cancellation policies exist but feels a bit unfair when I’m looking out for the best interests of myself and staff. Sorry to say I will be looking for a new barbers In reply to owner's response: As I mentioned in my review, cancellation policies exist for a reason and I fully understand that self employed staff must be protected in this way. But that said, sometimes human response and understanding goes a long way. Maybe repeat business isn't the priority and that's fine. I wish you all the best.

Kerri, Claire & Mia create a very friendly and professional atmosphere along with making you feel so relaxed and at ease the moment you walk through the door. The waiting facilities, along with the design and decor are second to none, which gives a feel that you know you are in the right place. The results from their hair and beard grooming, along with sound advice, is the best I've experienced. Fantastic experience: I’ve visited most barbers in Southampton until I came across this place and haven’t looked back since. I can confidently say this is probably the best barbers in Southampton. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is really nice and exactly what you’d want from a barber shop - such an intimate experience with high level skill and precision going in to every cut I’ve had. I’ve been seeing Kerri regularly and over time she’s got to know my hair and beard better than I know it myself. She’s always making recommendations given the way my hair has changed over time, and with every cut she delivers exceptional results - a true barbering experience of high quality and standards.

Fantastic experience: First visit to Equinox for a restyle prior to a imminent family wedding. Kerry took her time to discuss my hair type, it's pro's & con's, recommended styling and I appreciated her honesty in discussing hair aftercare. Fantastic experience: Have been three times and will be back again for sure! A fantastic barbers with wonderful crew and they have always given me excellent cuts. As a bearded, curly haired man, six months of unkempt growth during the lockdowns of the pandemic made me look like I was related to Bob Ross! I visited Equinox, they sorted me out with a fine trim and I’ve always returned. Every time I’ve walked out my beard looks and feels great and my hair looks stylish instead of wild. Fantastic experience: What a great place to get your hair cut. I was lucky enough to have the owner cut my hair and not only is she a master of her craft was an awesome person too. The salon was clean and funky with its very cool image and i was really relieved that the reviews i read matched the experience i had there myself. Fantastic experience: Turned up early for my appointment and waited outside, I was welcomed in by a member of staff she guided me to their waiting lounge. The lounge was nicely decorated and had all the modern conveniences. I had a very short wait, myself and Kerri had a short chat about what I wanted. I have never had a beard before so Kerri advised me through my options. She was so professional and knowledgeable I could tell she was experienced in her field. While I was having my beard trimmed and designed we had conversation about her business, it was so refreshing to hear someone have a passion for what they do and caring about the customers needs. I cannot recommend Equinox enough the level of service and knowledge is outstanding. If you want a professional service from a well established business, not a pop up, then come here.

Fantastic experience: Quite simply the best place in Southampton to get a haircut or beard trim. The staff who work here are friendly, welcoming, and keen to work with you to get what you want out of your hair (no matter how outlandish!). And the place itself is pretty cool. Fantastic experience: Just visit today for first time and I was positively surprised. I was instantly, warmly welcomed by staff. Sit down in very cool looking waiting area and relaxed in causy big leather sofa just 5 minutes before my appointment. Easy access and Parking spaces on the street for a small fee. From what I been told normaly you can have a Drink as they own License but due to Covid you have to stay dry For the first time I choose Samuel to by my Barber who looked after me and helped choosing best Hairstyle. Overall very proffesional approach, friendly, family atmosphere. I would definitely recommend to friends and visit again. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: I recently went here for the first time. I had the misfortune of having my boss schedule a meeting over my appointment on a day that this place was fully booked up. I called them up and Kerri very kindly swapped her lunchtime with my appointment slot rather than letting me suffer the consequences of my poor foresight. Kerri has always done a fantastic job with my hair, and has plenty of time to discuss exactly what I want. I initially started going to Equinox because it was conveniently located to pop in during my lunch break at work, but I'm more than happy to make the 20ish minute trip there now I'm working from home.
