Negative experience: Poor hair cut and extremely rude. Have been there 5 to 6 times overall. Pretty expensive. Same price for kids. 35$ for 10 mins service - Appointment is never on time. Always starts at least 20 mins after your appointment slot. - Keeps talking to other barbers interrupting your experience while cutting your hair, losing track of what was communicated earlier, and not paying attention as well as not respecting the customers time. - Extremely loud music.

Positive experience: $35 for the kid. Not sure how much it can be for adult. There are no prices on display. After the Hair cut, they will tell you and it can be 35 or 40 or 50 customer can't have any knowing of it. Making sure the prices for hair cut will help decide right choice. I am not going to say it is expensive or not. Not sure how the prices are for regular people in other stores. Anyone can suggest here to improve the customers experience.

Fantastic experience: My first time here and Angel did an amazing job. I usually have gone to other Hoboken/JC salon-barbershops but decided to give Imperial (specifically Angel) after hearing of them from a friend. He definitely did not disappoint!

Negative experience: I walked in for haircut. Did not have an appointment, so i do recommend call before walk in, wait times are extremely long. Moving on to haircut, this feels like a neighborhood barber shop, which is a good feeling. However, this shop is not for me. Environment is not welcoming. If you need typical barber shop haircuts like fades, this is your place. But for styling or something else than typical barber shop haircuts, i would not recommend this place. Went there once, but wont be going again. Not for me. All though these guys are good at what they do. Hope this gives some clarity to others.

Negative experience: This is the worst hairstyle of my life. I've just arrived in this country and I saw that this barber was well rated, but in the end I was very disappointed. The hairstyle is horrible ! I have holes in my hair and the hairstyle I wanted isn't even that.

Fantastic experience: I moved to JC back in 2018, and have been going to several hair stylists and barber shops for 4 years, till I discovered Imperial Barbershop by doing some online research. I have been going to get a haircut with Jae for 2 years now, and what can I say; the passion, dedication and detail Jae puts every single time I go it's just amazing. You can just explain him the first couple of times how you want your hair done, and he will do it exactly the way you want it to look like. Jae is a master, and a great guy to talk to. I don't know the other guys working there, but it is always a pleasure to share some time with all these guys, they are all welcoming, there is always nice music, funny stories and a lot of laughing; you always have a great time in this place and always leave with a smile. Negative experience: The head barber cut my neck from behind at 2 places which started bleeding, he didn't inform me. When I checked with my fingers if it was bleeding he tried to cover it up with talcum powder. When I requested to clean it with sanitizer, he said he'll do it after the hair cut. When I insisted and asked to do it myself, he said that he doesn't have time for this. Overall don't come here, these are unprofessional people. I'll raise a formal complaint about it with the authorities.

Negative experience: I came to this barbershop because I moved to Jersey city and saw it had good reviews. Came in and asked for Jae but he was out so I went with a barber with arm tattoos instead. I always show a barber a picture of a haircut I usually get and never had an issue. I showed him my picture of how I like my haircut with a fade and trim on top… all he did was do the fade (which didn’t even blend at all, wouldn’t even call it a fade) and barely trimmed the top. He didn’t even wet my hair to trim and just cut only certain areas. He was rushing, not taking his time and as he finished I told him that he didn’t trim the top or front which were still long and he seemed annoyed for asking him to trim. I showed him a picture and he claims he got it but didn't show anything for it. This barber had no idea what he was doing. Again, I never had an issue with getting haircuts and I don’t write reviews but the haircut was terrible. Also this place doesn’t post their prices and they only accept cash. No one informed me that it was cash only and the haircut cost me $40. Save yourself from a bad haircut and not come here. Never coming back. Very disappointing.

Fantastic experience: I moved to JC last year and had to go through a lot of different barbershops to find a good one. The atmosphere there is chill and laid back. I only make my appointments with Jay, he ways does an amazing job. One of the best barbershop in Jersey City.

Negative experience: One of the guys assumed how I wanted my sides and without asking just cut the whole thing last week, this week I took my son for a haircut he has a long hair the barber couldn't cut it so he tells Jay to cut it I waited over 30 minutes since the barber couldn't stop taking one of the waiting customers all this while the guy on the chair also looked tired of all this time wasting, just because they take too long doesn't mean they spend a lot of time in you more than half is either checking their phone or taking to someone else, so when is finally our turn he asks how much you want to cut it? I said just a little, mostly the ends so he started cutting thinking he would know how to deal with a kid, well he looked impatient of him moving, all this things wouldn't bothered if they did a good job or at least his hair was even, when I got home and took the hat out the sides were so uneven that my wife and I had to fix it I felt so angry with this people,especially when my old barber took 15 min at the same job and clearly knows his.

Negative experience: The fade haircut was overpriced and not properly done ($35 + tip). It was not faded properly and it feels like i just received a trim along the sides which does not "blend into" hair on the top of the head. Except Jae, everyone's quite average there. Make an appointment w/ Jae only if you want your money's worth.

My girlfriend was living in Jersey City and I needed a barber in the area, since I spent all my time out there. Jae is one of the best barbers I’ve ever had. Negative experience: Very small place, and not very hygienic. They touch your head with the same hands that they touch the money and I doubt they clean their hands when they go to the restroom. You have to be very patient because sometimes they take your head like it would be a ball and hit it with the machine very hard (they don’t like to use the scissors though), they are not polite and they want good tips. If you want a more professional service and even cheaper go to another place like a nice mall.
