Fantastic experience: In NYC on a long layover and Danny cut my hair. Eve though he was running a little behind, he made me feel right at home and made sure I was comfortable while waiting. Danny was thorough in his work, asking me detailed questions about my hair and how I wanted it cut. He even gave me some personal recommendations for how to care for and style my hair according to how I wanted it to look and feel throughout the day. Overall, 5/5 stars, highly recommend. Negative experience: Mulberry location. Easy scheduling, offered water. Nice guy. Unhappy with haircut. Fade was uneven, did not take enough off crown. Also anterior sides were oddly not faded. Overall won't be making the trip to chinatown again. I feel like I have a relatively simple haircut, luckily its regrowing back quick. Perhaps 12pell guys better at doing long hair

Fantastic experience: Prior to going to Tim at 12 Pell I never really noticed the difference between haircuts and styles. I used to go to someone 15mins away from my house for $40 a cut, but it wasn’t until my old barber messed up my cut a few times (he was complacent and not meticulous) and people pointed out that I started exploring other options. I met Tim in 2023 at Asian Hustle Network annual conference in Las Vegas when 12 Pell was giving touchups to the speakers before going on stage. That is when Tim fixed my previous haircut, gave me advice on my face shape and how to style it the right way, I never knew what I didn’t know. From then on, I travel 1hour+ from NJ every two weeks to get my haircuts from Tim. The extra travel time and money is worth it! The consultation and experience itself cannot be found elsewhere. A man’s haircut is their identity and if you don’t take it seriously, you’re walking out there in the world where others won’t take you seriously as well. Since my haircut, my wife has only complimented my looks and said I look better today than I did when I married her 10 years ago. We have 3 kids but it was after the haircut that my wife said we should consider having 3 more kids because it’s as if I turned back time and now she thinks I’m a stud again. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I scheduled a haircut with Tim from watching youtube videos of his work. What you see from youtube is exactly what you will get! I scheduled about a month in advanced and very soon after he got booked up fast! So schedule early and soon guys! I am not from New York and was flying in. I messaged him on Instagram questions I had about my haircut and he was very responsive. When I arrived, he knew who I was and addressed me accordingly. I scheduled a regular scissor haircut, but he took his time and even explained what and how he was cutting my hair. He even took a video for me to save for later! My haircut came out so much better than I envisioned. This man is an artist and I cannot recommend him enough. COME SEE THIS MAN. You will not be disappointed!!

Every cut is consistently on point — clean, sharp, and exactly what I want without much explanation. My wife (and others) regularly compliment how good my haircut looks, which says it all. Thinley is also incredibly reliable and professional. I’m almost hesitant to leave such a strong review because he’s my go-to and I don’t want him getting overbooked — but if you want a barber you can trust every time, Thinley is it.

Fantastic experience: Ok so prior to 12 Pell I was struggling with 2 things: My hair was thinning. Also my hair would look nice at first but after 2-3 weeks of it growing out it can look messy and I’d have to come back in. Peter at 12 Pell was able to understand my hair, what kind of haircut I’d need, and recommend me products I can use that could style my hair and he also taught me how to style my hair as well. Honestly prior to 12 Pell I was in the habit of just letting my hair grow out and I didn’t know how to style my hair at all. That kind of look I got away with when my hair was thicker but now that it’s not, not so much I feel like Peter understands how my hair grows out. He cuts it in a way that even after 4 weeks of growing it out my hair is looking nice. I’ve only been needing to come in once a month. Been going once a month for a yr. It’s a nice place and my only experience has been with Peter but it looks like all the barbers are nice guys as well. 12 Pell is on the pricier side compared to my previous barbers but I think it’s worth it.

I actually tried a couple years back when I was on a trip to get a cut here, but they were completely booked. Luckily, this time I was able to get in with no issue. I received a normal scissor cut from Michael, and it was a great experience and a great haircut. Positive experience: It’s overhyped. Don’t get me wrong, the cuts are decent and the staff are professional. However, the prices they charge especially with the OGs are ridiculous. The $95 haircut you’re getting is the same level you’ll get with a standard $40-$50 cut.

Fantastic experience: Every single haircut I've received this year was booked with Julius -- excellent barber; his hands are simply gifted. All I do is show him a photo of what I want and he gives me exactly that. I don't get haircuts frequently, so it's important to me that my hair stays looking good as it grows out in the weeks and even months following the cut. On this criterion, Julius has always delivered. The haircuts aside, Julius is also just an incredibly friendly person who is fun to talk to and attentive to his clients.

Fantastic experience: Simon is amazing, he's become my go to barber in nyc. Asked for a new style this time and he absolutely killed it. With my old barber back in seattle you'd usually have to wait a few days before it looked good but Simon has this down to a science, it's always great right out the door. Most important thing is, Simon knows what looks good and will really take the time to work with you to get the look you want. He also has the skill to back it up - texturing, fading, styling, all that stuff. On top of that he's a really easygoing guy, always fun talking to him. What an artist man, cannot recommend Simon enough.

Fantastic experience: I found this place from an instagram reel and showed my boyfriend who has never gone to a haircutting specialist before. Ofc he was skeptical because he’s a classic guy who just wants to throw $20 to a random barber when he feels like it. I ended up convincing him especially because I could see the early stages of hair loss and wanted to make sure he was addressing these things early. He made an appointment with Tim and I joined for moral support. Tim was incredibly helpful. He did a full consultation on his hair, scalp, hair thinning, face shape etc. to make sure everything they did that day would be most flattering for his features and hair health. He even shaped his eyebrows. Now my boyfriend has been going to see Tim for almost half a year now and hasn’t gone to anyone else. His haircuts last longer and he looks cute everytime he leaves and when he’s ready for another cut. There’s been times I’ve even hoped he wouldn’t cut it because the shape and the way it grew out looked so nice. I think both he and I are very happy with Tim’s work and the long lasting relationship. I definitely recommend for any man but especially for Asian men who want a hair style that fits their features.

Negative experience: This was my second time going to 12 Pell. The first time I had a great haircut. This time the barber was clearly rushed and did not follow my request for how I wanted my haircut, even with a photo. I ended up paying $80 for a $20 haircut

Fantastic experience: My haircut with Tim was great! Did the hair consultation and the whole experience was really helpful. Previously, I had worn a hat for 7 years because I’ve been unhappy with my hair and I’ve tried every hair style (buzz, middle part, comma, textured fringe, etc…) but I was never happy because no product would help bring volume to my hair. Tim took his time explaining what he saw for my face shape and asked for my opinions throughout the haircut (length, maintenance, etc…) which gave me a lot of confidence in the whole process. He also applied product to my hair and filmed the whole thing so I can replicate it at home. The products he recommended added the exact texture I was looking for for so long. Tim even went so far as to trim my brows for free to help show me what I’m missing out on. Tim really went above and beyond! He gave me lots of helpful information about my hair, why products and cuts didn’t work before, and what to do moving forward. He was extremely knowledgeable and really takes into account your preferences when cutting your hair. If you’re anything like me and was unhappy with your hair, I would highly recommend coming to see Tim at 12pell

Fantastic experience: I booked a few appointments with Tim. Service was super thorough. From the moment you first make a booking to when you’re in the chair and even when you’re out the door. You are presented with excellent service I had came in for an appointment after deciding to go from fully grown out hair to something more tame and could not be happier with the decision I made to trust Tim with that job.
