He determined scope and placement of my cowlicks, texture of my hair, head shape and state of most recent cut -- he basically went on a recon mission before forming a strategy. In simple terms, he walked me through what he was about to go. Carlos is highly observant and quite skilled. I look forward to another touch-down in the area for another exceptional haircut.

Fantastic experience: I find the last review from Trevor interesting, since he said that Carlos spoke little while focusing on his art - and his haircuts are art. My roommate just returned from his second cut, totally different from the first - unless you specify what you want, you get the creation Carlos is in the mood for. When I I had my last cut Carlos was a fascinating conversationalist and I would recommend him not only for his artistic approach to cutting men's hair but I would recommend engaging him on his world experience and viewpoints. The shop is spacious, sports on the screen, and ice cold water in the fridge. This is what I always imagined barber shops were in the day that they were hang outs as much as places of business. Maybe if enough customers suggest it, Carlos might have a special event for his loyal customers and get us all together.

Fantastic experience: I found Carlos based off of the reviews. Didn’t know what to expect, but I walked in and showed him a picture of what I usually get and he said he’s got it. Was skeptical since he didn’t talk much but it turns out he was just focused on his craft. My haircut usually takes an hour but due to him solely cutting and not much talking it was only 30-45 min. He did an excellent job, was very meticulous and detailed; asked any questions that I didn’t already provide the answer to him about the length I wanted on top. Definitely recommend

Fantastic experience: I live in the NY/NJ area and spent time on vacation in FL last week. I needed a haircut and happened to find Mentrendz Barber Shop Fort Lauderdale online. If I could give this shop 6 Stars I would. I did not expect to get such a superior fade & cut as I did at Mentrendz. To say it exceeded my expectations is an understatement. The shop was clean, I was given 30 minutes of detailed attention, and had a great conversation with the owner. I highly recommend that if you are in the Fort Lauderdale area or just down to visit, check this place out. Can't say enough!

Fantastic experience: I had an appointment at 4 PM. I was in the chair within five minutes of my appointment. That’s a Big Plus. Negative experience: I had a disappointing experience at Mentrendz in Fort Lauderdale. My appointment with barber Carlos was scheduled for 11:30 AM, but we had to wait an additional 30 minutes because Carlos was running behind with the haircut before my son's. This delay was already frustrating. What made matters worse was how he treated my autistic son. When it came time for my son's haircut, I showed Carlos a picture for reference and explained that we just wanted a simple cleanup of the edges. However, Carlos completely disregarded my instructions and insisted on speaking directly to my son. Understanding that my son doesn't communicate as much due to his autism, I asked my son to wait outside, wanting to explain the situation to Carlos without further embarrassment. However, before I could explain, Carlos became visibly irritated because my son wouldn't answer his questions and started yelling at my son, which was extremely distressing. This behavior was not only unprofessional but also deeply hurtful. When I eventually mentioned that my son was autistic, expecting some empathy or a resolution, Carlos dismissed me and told me to figure out what my son wanted. At that point, I was so upset and frustrated that I decided to leave without getting the haircut we came for. Carlos never reached out to apologize or address the situation. This experience left my son traumatized, and he now refuses to go back to any barber shop. In summary, my visit to Mentrendz was marred by Carlos's delay, poor communication skills, and insensitivity toward my autistic son's needs. I hope this review serves as feedback for improvement and raises awareness about the importance of empathy and understanding in a customer service-oriented profession.
