Fantastic experience: Got my hair cut from Jamie he was very friendly had gave me a really good hair cut. I hadn’t had my hair cut for 3 ish months so it was kinda a rescue mission. I have curly hair and this specifically was a worry for me and they had all the know and equipment. I told Jamie what I wanted and me and him had a quick discussion he offered his advice and we agreeed to adapt it slightly it turned out great and I’m a satisfied customer. It is more expensive then other cuts I have had but I would say that it is worth it at 22 pound for me.

Negative experience: Don’t go here if you want a good cut. Used to go to this barber years ago when I lived in Oxford. Felt like it had better staff back then. Came in, Owner was very friendly and chatty, other barber Adam (?), lets call him X, didn’t say much. I told them I had a wedding to go to in a few days thats why I was back in Oxford, the owner said he had to go to a PT training session and said I could get my hair cut by X. X proceeds to cut my hair after the owner leaves and barely spoke a word of English. I’ve been trying to grow my hair out long for several months now and made good progress but just wanted a tidy up and reshaping for the wedding and to cut it so it can grow out evenly and properly. I don’t think he even understood what I was asking. I had a good reference photo which I showed him, I left it open on my phone on the table the whole time and I don’t think he even referenced it once. He ended up cutting of large amounts and I even questioned it halfway through to which he didn’t understand what I was asking and couldn’t explain either. I also often ask for the barber to explain a bit their process and why it is they are cutting certain parts so I can understand the methodology. He nodded and then proceeded to cut without even explaining a single thing. I had also grown my beard out long for several months which I cherished the length and size it was, asked for it to be tidied up (hoping just scissor cut not take off too much length), he proceeded with electric razor and took off almost my entire beard… Towards the end he just sprayed a shit tonne of hairspray and product in my hair and turned me around and said it was done, and it looked completely different to the reference photo I showed him. Got charged £35 for one of the worst experience cuts I’ve had in a long time and ended up looking and feeling like shit for my mates wedding, cheers guys Tried popping back in the following two days to tell the owner about my unfortunate experience and he was never there, expecting a compensation or refund if possible, didn’t even bother telling X as he wouldn’t have understood a word of what I said anyway.

Fantastic experience: This has to be the best-value for money in Oxford. I went there for the first time today and Jaime did an incredible job of advising me about my cut and then doing an amazing job. One of the best haircuts I've ever had! Will definitely come back.

Fantastic experience: Having tried a load of barbers around Oxford over the years, these guys stand out. Friendly environment, generally short wait times and, obviously, most importantly good haircuts! At a sensible price. And they have a loyalty scheme. Lots of the chaps there have cut my hair and it's always a good outcome as they listen - in my experience, not always the case. Have recommended to all my colleagues and they've been similarly impressed.

Negative experience: Terrible experience at this barbers. I asked for a beard shape up but unfortunately I didn't get what I asked for. I asked for a no. 1.5 on the bottom chin end of beard, and a 1 on the sides. The guy gave me a 1.5 on the chin end but only did a proper job with the 1 on one side!! He didn't touch the moustache with the clipper at all or tidy up/straighten line under the neck... Look at the photos. Just lazy. He used the blade on the neck, which I asked for, but his approach promptly made me bleed. He claimed my hair was too long and growing the wrong way; I said he should have used the clipper first and he said he did. He contradicted himself. I've had hundreds of beard shape ups and have never bled like that before. Apparently I should have 'known' that I would bleed, which is a bit ridiculous because who goes to a barbers for a beard cut expecting to bleed? Not me. The guy was incredibly arrogant and smug, and handled the situation very badly. When I questioned the poor quality of the work and said I was disappointed, he referred to himself as an 'expert'. His ability was amateur at best. I suspect he doesn't really know how to do a beard cut but was too embarrassed to say no. This terrible service is limited to this one individual I might add. I had a beard shape up a few times before from the other man in there (guy with longer hair) and he does an excellent job. If you get the older man with the manbun, well, I'd just request and wait for someone else. To conclude, I asked for a shape up and left the place with a bleeding neck, a red rash 4 hours later, and half the service I paid for. A rushed mess. Luckily, I have now been to a different, more competent barber, who was able to fix the mess which was made. Edit in response to the barbers response: I literally walked in the shop, said good morning and was ignored by both barbers present. I was then invited to the chair and stated I wanted a shape up at grades 1 and 1.5. There was no other interaction until I raised concerns about the poor quality of the cut. Not sure therefore how my attitude was ‘appalling’ from the moment I stepped in the door. If anything, they were rude for ignoring me when I said hello. This is a classic case of somebody not liking being called out on the poor quality workmanship.

From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming and professional. Joe really took the time and gave him a fantastic cut. The attention to detail was top-notch. Negative experience: I’ve been going here for years as a happy customer, but the new guy they hired just massacred my head. He couldn’t seem to figure out how to shorten the length of my hair without yanking it out of my scalp. It didn’t help matters that I was surrounded by heaps of trimmings from earlier customers, at least three heads’ worth by the look of things. The amateurish technique and lack of hygiene were a huge turnoff.

And they music they play is great too. During the week there isn't usually much of a queue, get seen to quickly. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been growing a beard for 4 months, so was well overdue a trim! I didn’t manage to get the barbers name, however he was extremely efficient and the results were much better than I’d expected! He used various tools and techniques to work his magic, and after the process I was charged £15! Such a bargain, I will definitely return.

Negative experience: Worst haircut I’ve ever had and that includes when I was a kid and my mum hacked away at my head. The guy clearly had zero clue what he was doing. Friends having a field day over lunch taking the p*ss. REPLY: Definitely the right place. Told the chap at the time that it was a bad haircut. (Added a second star because the chap next to me looked like he was happy with his cut)

Fantastic experience: These guys do a great job. Rarely have to queue, they are speedy but take care to work with what you want. Reasonable price and the loyalty card is really worth it.

Negative experience: I’d previously had a decent cut at Duke’s, but my experience today was awful. I have short hair and usually have it done at a barbers. The young man who cut my hair did not seem to understand what I had asked for, and his English was quite poor. The fade he did was okay, but when he turned to the rest of my hair he started cutting my hair with the wrong parting. When I corrected it, he apologised, but the damage had been done, and he had cut a bit of hair on the side of my head oddly short, so that it was sticking out. He tried a couple of times to make it sit flat, unsuccessfully, and then mumbled something about the hair ‘not wanting to sit flat’, and gave up trying to fix it and then finished the hair cut with a lock of hair sticking out at a 90 degree angle from the side of my head, barely sticking it down with some wax. The hair cut looked very little like what I had asked for (and showed photographs of).The young man also smelled of urine. I will not be returning: what a waste of £20.

Negative experience: Used to be good, with experienced barbers. Loved the experience and the vibe we used to get from this place. Unfortunately I had bad luck last Saturday as the gentleman who call himself a barber made a mess with my hair... Did a half job and left me pretty much the same hair length I walked in, although I made a comment about it. Paid £20 for this 'experience ' and now I need to go somewhere else to fix it. Not happy.

Negative experience: I can’t begin to express the disappointment with this venue, ignoring instruction entirely, using clippers for scissor work, leaving gaps in my hair and sending me off with hair on my face and my hair dripping wet in 6° temperatures! What a joke, unless you’re going for a bang on basic trim go somewhere else, save your money this place is a joke!

Fantastic experience: I have long hair and tend to get it cut once a year but wanted to go for something a bit shorter whilst still on the long side. I had my hair done at a unisex Salon where they butchered it for a steep price - no layers, uneven all over, looked like Lord Farquaad and it took nearly 2 hours. Walked in to Dukes the next day where Mars saw me on the spot and sorted it right out in 20 minutes, for half the price. Very pleased with the result! Thanks mate

I used to get some mediocre cuts from my old barbershop with the inflated price of £35 so I decided to finally switch barbers when I found this gem of a shop from the warm welcome to the expert haircut everything was perfect and for a way cheaper price of £20 the only thing I could be mad about is that i wasnt going to this place sooner.

Negative experience: Most of the barbers that used to do my haircut are gone and the quality of the new ones I have tried has been below satisfaction. Today I just came in to clean the sides and the back, and to tide up the quiff. No quiff was left at the end of the haircut. I won't be coming back.

Negative experience: Beware. Used to be good, but I’ve had two bad haircuts in a row from here, and that’s coincided with their prices hitting £20. The first one was just not very good. Some bits were left too long, some cut short - a bit patchy. The kind of haircut I used to get from my mum. The sides were ok so it mostly looked alright unless I was trying to style it neatly. I chalked it up to bad luck. The second one though, the guy was supposed to take a bit off the top and cut the sides short. He even did the “hold a bit of hair in his fingers” to show the length - seemed fine. But he just kept cutting and cutting until I eventually made a comment and he stopped. The front ended up as short as the sides, I might as well have had a crew cut. In the end I let him tidy up, paid my money and left (he can’t glue hair back on). But for the first time ever here, I didn’t tip. For the record, my hair is incredibly simple. Typically shaved to 2-3 at the sides going up to a couple of inches long on top. And I gave the same instruction as I have for years (“two sides and back and a bit off the top”). I’ve had bad haircuts and haircuts that have ended up too short for my liking, but they’ve always been roughly the same haircut. This is basically a crew cut. Last time my hair looked like this was when I cut it myself with clippers as a student. Even two weeks later people are still asking why I cut all my hair off, which prompted this review. I suspect they’ve cut their wages recently and can now only afford inexperienced barbers. The old faces are gone. I would avoid this place.

Although I was the last customer of the day, the crew made me feel at home and did not rush to finish my cut. As someone who has high customer-service standards, I cannot have been more pleased with my experience. I will definitely return every time I’m in town .

Negative experience: Don't usually leave reviews but the cut was super uneaven on the sides one side the undercut goes down to my ear and the other about an inch above, the bloke that cut it was nice but I'm really not happy with the outcome and it did seem like a pretty sloppy cut

Negative experience: Got a haircut here a couple weeks back from a mixed/middle eastern barber. Was an overall very poor cut - he ignored my requests and cut much shorter than asked. He also seemed bored the whole time and cut extremely quickly, even cutting in to my eyebrows. I'm sure this place is fine for a clipper cut but I wouldnt recommend at all for a scissor cut.
