Headington Barbers

Negative experience: I’ve been to this barbers a few times and always asked for the same cut. Previously I was paying around £25, but on my most recent visit the price jumped to almost £40 with no clear explanation. In the end I paid, but both my friend and I won’t be returning. It feels like poor integrity when prices change so drastically without being made clear to regular customers. It gave the impression of trying to squeeze extra money rather than valuing customer loyalty. Another thing I noticed is that new customers are encouraged to leave a review during their first visit, which likely explains why the ratings appear so high. In my experience, the service and pricing didn’t live up to that impression. Let this be a warning to others, there are many barbers in close proximity, so choose wisely.

Negative experience: That is the worst barber shop I've ever been. They charged me £30 for just a normal haircut. I came back to complain and the guy was impolite and disrespectful, will never go there again.

Negative experience: I had Warheel cut my hair. Although he was a young man it felt like being transported back in time to an old fashioned barbers (in the best sense). Super efficient fast cut, he listened and understood what I wanted and didn’t need to spend ages comparing both sides of my head!!! Thank you! Update from 20/12/2025: I went in for another cut and had a different person, this time I had probably the worst cut I have had in my life, mainly because he shaved half way over the top of my head whilst talking to a colleague. I was left with an extremely lopsided cut despite me asking if he could even it up. Mistakes do happen but what compounded the issue is that he still asked for payment even after leaving my hair in a rather ridiculous looking state. In hindsight I wish I had refused but in true Englishman style I just paid and left resolving to never visit again. From 5* to 1* in an instant. Update 2 Thank you for the kind offer, happy to come again for a rectification cut! If all goes well I will update the review back to 5 stars. Let me know the email address to contact you on. :-)

Negative experience: Place was okay at first but took my son for a haircut and he’s clearly distressed with the clipper as they knew before so they used scissors wich was fine but for some unknown reason the person who said don’t use the clippers unfortunately ended up using them (even doe the following week earlier he told his colleague not to use them on him) so my sons haircut was awful and he knew full well what he was doing but still kept using it and looking disgusted that my son who is autistic and has learning/under standing difficulties was getting distressed so will not be returning and I suggest if your children has problems etc learning difficulties/ disabilities or doesn’t communicate I would really advise you to avoid this place at all cost highly disappointed and the fact they still charged £20 for his haircut even doe it was absolutely horrendous but I went to another one just down the road and they was absolutely wonderful and didn’t even charge me because they could see the awful state the previous barber did (you guys) so with that being said like I said before STAY AWAY from this one (this is adding on to my review it was a couple of months ago I hadn’t posted it then because I was dealing with personal issues I’m not damaging no reputation I’m talking the truth

Negative experience: The first time I went here they gave me an cut that was above average and i was pretty happy with it, I went there again and gave them the same instruction but to a different barber, I got the worst hair cut I've ever had, like the barber doesn't know a bit shorter in the front means, he cut of everything in the front and made me look like a mushroom, he watered my hair and cut a straight line with no thinking behind it. And somehow he was happy with it. Not going there again ever.

Negative experience: Super rude staff, he will continuously argue with me about cuting. When he did not satisfy me With cuting he saying it’s fault with your hair not me. All the time he show me your attitude, I don’t know why . he use very hard eraser on my cheeks . it’s very painful till now. My cheeks are burning. I feel very bad and uncomfortable.

Negative experience: Absolute worst haircut I've had. Way shorter than I wanted, as I asked for a 2 going to a four on the sides, but they just blitzed my hair. They took off about double what I asked for on the front and the kicker is that it isn't even straight.

Fantastic experience: I've visited a lot of barber shops in Headington and Oxford, and this one definitely gives the best cut for the best value. The team are really welcoming and friendly, and always make me feel like a valued customer. I usually go on a Saturday and I never have to wait too long and it never feels too busy or loud in the shop - just comfortable and bustling. As a trans person, it can feel daunting to go into a men's barber shop, but they've always treated me with respect just like any other customer. Without a doubt, my favourite barbershop in Oxford, and in my opinion the only one worth visiting! An update: they're still the best cut in Oxford in my opinion, still always friendly, and I've been going to them exclusively since I posted this review originally about 1.5 years ago.

Fantastic experience: My two boys had their hair cuts via a photo. Fers and Hawar are superb they created just what my boys wanted. So welcoming! The barbers itself is very nice and clean. I even got a free mocha. We will be returning for sure. Thank you! Highly recommend Headington Barbers!

Fantastic experience: What a nice first experience i had today, the guys were very friendly and welcoming, i explained to the barber exactly how i wanted my hair, high fade, double zero etc and he done a great job. the environment was also nice and clean, the price is a little expensive as they charged £20 but its worth it. Negative experience: The staff were welcoming and friendly from the beginning. However, the haircut is not what I expected, especially reading all the reviews. It was done too quickly and sloppily, leaving uneven sides and marks everywhere. I asked for a fade haircut and they basically trimmed down one of the sides from bottom to top using the same number without any blending and then do something completely different on the other side. I had to get it fixed at another barbershop days later. The price would have been affordable if it weren't for the fact that I had to pay another barber to fix it.
