Fantastic experience: Found this place ‘cuz they’re open late after work. Got a great haircut from Whitney and a good drink from Christian to enjoy during my cut. Booking online is easy. They accept all cards and Apple Pay. Will DEFINITELY return when I’m in Portland again.

Negative experience: Told the barber to NOT touch the back side at all, proceeded to taper all around and cut super short. Bearded guy didn’t listen to me at all.

Fantastic experience: Im regularly in town from Seattle for work and needed to get cleaned up for the weekend. I hate finding a new barber, but Alex did not disappoint! Was extremely happy with the haircut I got and the service was exceptional!!! Will def be a return customer. *UPDATE* I went to return to C&D and Alex was not available. Fantastic experience: I went in, not knowing it was fully booked, but by chance or by fate, Cable had a 20 minute window, and graciously fit me in. I have curly hair, so I’ve never been happy about my haircuts, but Cable absolutely knows how to cut hair, but especially curly hair! I was so impressed with the environment, and the cost. Very affordable, and high quality service and cuts. 10/10 recommend, and if you have curly hair, Cable is your man!

Fantastic experience: This is my third haircut with Bryan. I went two years without cutting my hair for a fitness goal, and when I got my first cut done, my anxiety was through the roof. He not only took great care to listen to my concerns, but then after the first cut was too long, he fixed it completely for free a week later. Vibe is immaculate. Decor is on point and they offer a pretty cool drink selection even though all I ever want is water. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to get a nice quality haircut. Fantastic experience: Needed a new barber and decided to check out Cloak and Dagger. By luck of the draw my first appointment was with Whit and I haven’t looked back. Whit checks all the boxes: professional, easy to work with, personable and easy to talk to while also being aware of when you’re trying to zone out and relax. My usual is a skin fade + beard trim with razor lineup and I can’t recommend enough. As a bonus Whit also gives great restaurant suggestions. On the shop side it’s a rustic, even dungeon like style interior. It’s easy to have a conversation with your barber or zone out to the sounds of the shop. Location is good and parking has always been easy for me to find a spot on the street within a block of the shop. The availability of a bar and having a drink during your cut adds to the experience.

Negative experience: Got a buzzcut there today and after I got home I found 3 different areas they missed. Never had that happen before at other shops. Atmosphere was meh, honestly a little tryhard. Not the worst cut I've gotten, but not the best by a long shot.

Poured me a FREE glass of Irish ☘️ whiskey while I waited. And Regina the Barber was beyond 5 STARTS !!! After she shaved my head, she gave me a shoulder massage with her device.. what a great great touch !! I would highly recommend this place

Negative experience: i went there 2 times, the first time the guy made it totally uneven on both sides and didn’t give me the cut i wanted, the second time the guy suggested a haircut and then proceeded to cut a chunk of my hair out of my bangs. these barbers don’t know how to cut hair.

Negative experience: I recently moved to Portland and, being socially awkward, I put off getting a haircut for five months. I had a barber I went to often back in my hometown who I would show photos to, and he would know what to do. When I finally decided to go to a new barbershop, I walked in without an appointment. When the receptionist asked me what I was looking to get, I said maybe two inches off, not realizing it was too little for the look I wanted. The only available barber overheard this and said he was ready. Once I sat down, he didn't even ask what I wanted before he started cutting. When he finished, he gave me my glasses and said he was done. It was 10 minutes. I knew this wasn't what I wanted, so I told him and showed him photos to explain better, but he got visibly irritated and still didn't cut it the way I wanted. The entire cut took about 20 minutes. I was so uncomfortable that I just said it was fine, paid, and even tipped out of guilt. This was an absolutely awful experience.

Negative experience: I paid $70 (!) for a hair & beard cut in order to look sharp for a job interview. Not only was I unhappy with the result, but I got told at the interview that I looked “scruffy”! Extremely disappointing and embarrassing. Prior to this cut, I’d only ever gotten compliments on the well-groomed nature of my hair and beard, and every one of my friends said that the cut was a significant downgrade. (So it’s not like the barber had some kind of terribly difficult starting point to work from.)

Unfortunately this was the only real positive from my experience though, so there it is.

Negative experience: The barber was very nice and pleasant to talk to. Unfortunately however the straight razor shave I received was very poor. I left with razor burn and had to clean up the shave myself at home.

Negative experience: Showed up to a 2nd appointment at 5 at 4:50 for Tina. Didn’t get me into a chair until 5:35+ and only after I asked what was happening 20 minutes into my appointment time, no one, including Tina bothered to tell me what was happening. This shop doesn’t respect other people’s time or value you as a client and I will not be returning.

Positive experience: Long hair cut with Jazz, excellent hair cut, she was thoughtful of things that I missed verbalizing to her. This place is overpriced though. I'd expect hair wash included at $73.. keep the beer give me the hair wash please

Negative experience: Had possibly the worst barbershop experience of my lifetime here. Most barbers here seem chill but all changed when I got haircut from Brett. Taking to him I felt he had a lot of questionable views (some discriminatory in my opinion), seems to have a fragile ego and wants people to conform to his worldview. I often choose to just nod and keep quite rather than challenge people in situations like this. But even silence seemed to trigger him and I felt pressured to play along. I genuinely felt unsafe. This is of course my experience and opinion. If you are the adventurous type, you have been warned.

Fantastic experience: I came to Cloak and Dagger recently as a 1st time customer and was able to get a same day appointment by booking online. Tina cut my hair, and it was a great overall experience. My hair was pretty overgrow, Tina took her time, and it really turned out wonderful, even received compliments from some of my co-workers.

Fantastic experience: As a guy with long thick and curly hair, it’s super hard to find someone who knows exactly how to cut and treat my hair. I booked an appointment with Brent to get a cut and it’s easily the best haircut I’ve ever had. Brett made sure that my cut was exactly to my liking, and provided some good tips for hair care outside of my time in the shop. While the price is high compared to going to someplace like great clips, you definitely get more than your moneys worth from the care and experience of someone like Brett.

Negative experience: I went for a beard trim and shave and figured I would also get a head shave. I got to the place 3mins early. After just 30 minutes I am told that because I was late he couldn't do the beard trim. The thing I wanted most. I told him my apt time and that I was early, but rather than verifying, he just dusted me off and sent me on my way. I replied to the email satisfaction survey and heard crickets after 3 weeks. So, I'm doing a Google review. Also, I noticed that they comment on positive reviews and have yet to reply to my email about a negative experience. I'm not sure how they have a 4.5 rating unless they are paying Google for it.

Fantastic experience: It’s hard to complain when you have the option of a pre-cut beverage. I like trying different bourbon options before a beard trim. Theresa does great work and cleans up this mess of a face without fail. Get there a little early to catch part of a game and enjoy the comfy couch. Definitely recommend C&D B if you’re in the area.

Fantastic experience: I just got the best haircut of my life here. Yes, I spent $70, but you’re getting what you pay for. With a complimentary beer, I got the exact haircut I wanted (the barbers ask clarifying questions to make sure you get what you came in for), plus a shampoo with scalp massage, hot towel treatment, and back massage. This is the most relaxing and chillest place you could ever get your hair cut.

Fantastic experience: The best haircut experience I've ever had! This is a uniquely special salon/barbershop. I've been 3 times now with 3 different people and every time has been stellar. I have longer hair and as a guy it's very difficult to find a barbershop vibe that also has a great scissor cut option. The quality is top level for my needs. Then, they have the complimentary booze and ultra chill vibes. Highly recommend. Looking forward to my next visit. Brett Mcanney is one of the best in the biz!
