Fantastic experience: I've been getting my hair cut and my beard trimmed at Heritage for forever. Longer than I remember. I don't know what I would do without Maggie. Thanks to her, everyone thinks I have a jawline. The other barbers there are really nice, Brian is great, the other customers are pretty okay probably. It feels like a family. Yeah. A family. I like the sound of that. A family that I have to pay to be a part of, a family that I only see once every 6-8 weeks, a family that makes me look 35% more handsome than I look in real life!

Fantastic experience: I was in town one night for work this week and I needed to get a haircut for headshot day at work. After some googling on where to get the best cut in town, I came across Heritage. The reviews did not disappoint. One of the best haircuts and beard trims Ive had in recent memory!! Savannah did an amazing job with the cut and left me feeling confident for picture day. Did I mention the immaculate vibes and free beer/sparkling water while you wait? 10/10 experience, will be back when I’m in pdx!

Fantastic experience: Bob was fantastic! He gave my teenager his first barber experience; he was so good at listening to my son's needs and wants. He also gave my kid lots of great advice on how to manage his curly hair. So very pleased and will definitely go back.

Positive experience: Hi y'all - love your shop, but I mistakenly scheduled a cut at 530 when it should have been 5, and when I tried to reschedule it wouldn't let me and your phone wasn't working. Maybe get that fixed!

Fantastic experience: This place has been my go-to barber shop for the last few years, beating out some of the other quality neighborhood options gradually over time, both in quality and atmosphere. It's a quintessential old school barbershop vibe where there's several conversations going on at any given moment and you may or may not be invited, but you are always made to feel welcome in the space as you wait for a cut and your turn in the greater conversation. I love my regular barber there, but no matter who fills in when my schedule conflicts, I am always happy with the cut and enjoy their company. I appreciate the gratis can of Old German each time that reinforces that this is *me time.*

He does a great job on my hair, And the quality to Cost for a men’s haircut is a no-brainer. Strongly recommend I used to live in Portland and get my haircut there. Now I commute 45 minutes just to make sure I have Brian do it.

Fantastic experience: I've been going here for three years and get compliments on my haircut, which I had never had before when i went to a chair. I typically go to Blake and Mac, but all of them I've been to are good! Not cheap, but worth it!

Fantastic experience: Classic barbershop vibe. Lots of occupied chairs. I was greeted by the barbers at the front and they all seemed friendly to their customers. An unoccupied one saw me looking at hair products and helped me find the right one while I waited. My barber, who was finishing up with their current customer, took the extra step of coming over to personally greet me and let me know they would be with me shortly. During the cut, they actively engaged with me and kept me in the loop with what they were doing, which was nice. I got a good quality haircut for a fair price (cuts ain't cheap these days). The slightly lower price point for the area and proximity were the primary deciding factors. I'll be booking my next cut here. Thanks y'all!

Fantastic experience: i went here on friday (10/10/2025) and had the last appointment for the day and Mac was my barber. He did a fantastic job and gave me one of the best skin fades ive had. The location is pretty cool and close to other things if you need to kill some time before an appointment. Will be coming back and continue to see Mac for the best fades

Negative experience: I always make my appointment with Savannah. She’s professional and knows just how I like my cut, and today’s was perfect. I give her an unqualified five stars. But only three for the shop today. The cutter next to Savannah’s chair had a foul mouth and that makes for an unpleasant, less than family-friendly environment. I’m not a prude. I’m ex-Navy, and I’ve heard and seen it all, but Navy language by staff in a commercially public business is out of line. Clean it up, people. UPDATED REVIEW 10/13/25 tried to make appt. on line ::: required too much personal data and a password, and didn’t allow choice of barber in the setup. Sorry to lose Savanna.

Negative experience: Would not recommend this place! I was told 60 on the phone then when I was done I was told 80. Ive never paid 80 for hair and beard in my life! Haircut was ok but he messed my beard up left it thinned out and all stringy looking I had to go to a different barber to get it fixed and on top of that he was rude. Would not recommend Tai doing your hair and definitely dont let him touch your beard!

He’s an epic beardsmith, a master of his craft, and a storyteller who makes every visit feel like hanging out with an old friend (because he is). I’ve followed him through every shop he’s worked at, and Heritage Barbershop is lucky to have him. If you want a barber who cares about both the cut and the person in the chair, Eric is the one.

Negative experience: Tried taking my teen here twice and both barbers botched his line up. The most recent left his neck bleeding, offered a line up that he didn’t finish and left his hairline uneven. We will have to go somewhere else to get it fixed. If you have a coarser hair texture, I would not recommend this shop.

Fantastic experience: I've been seeing Allen at Heritage since I moved to Portland (~4 years). He's skillful, kind, friendly, and always provides a great experience. Truly the best barber I've had, and I've stayed loyal for years as a result. I refer everyone I know to go see him, and you should too.

I just go with whoever is available when I book the appointment online and I've been satisfied every time. All are personable barbers that are just being real and trying to make a living cutting hair. Even when I've lived out of state I booked appointments at Heritage if I was around for work or play.

Fantastic experience: Portland's got a lot of barbershops, and while many are staffed with incredibly talented people, Heritage Barbershop is far and away my personal favorite. The staff are attentive to your needs and work with you to create aesthetics that work for your noggin, not against it. Depending on which one you get, they can be a little unhinged, too, but that works for me. The shop always plays great music and is full of bustling and lively conversation had by kind people who care about each other and are deeply dedicated to their crafts. Need a hot towel shave? Got 'em. Skin fade? Send it. Sick mullet? Done and dusted. Thoughtful musings on mortality and gossip about contemporary fantasy novels while sipping complimentary cans of Old German? THIS IS THE SPOT. Seriously though, if you're looking for a place to get chopped in a really friendly and inviting environment staffed by kind people who are deeply committed to both their craft and making you feel good about your hair and facial grooming, give it a shot. If you aren't looking for that, then Bishop's is just down the street.

Negative experience: Didn’t ask for anything super unique just to tighten the sides up, & to be honest with you Tara really messed me up. I immediately drove to another barbershop to get it repaired & they crowded around me shocked that I had to pay for it. Tipped 20% as I always will, but to charge me for that haircut was pretty wild. I’m not going to throw a fit in the shop at the time because that’s not how I communicate, but it was very clear to me that she knew that she had made an error & just tried to let it go. Cut my neck at the end with the razor to top it off.

Positive experience: Everything is great but it’s on the pricier end of barbershops ($40 for 30 min short -hair cut… maybe I’m cheap?) but they do great work. Eric gives great haircuts and wild, esoteric conversation. My go-to dude for great haircuts and life hacks.

Fantastic experience: I've gotten my hair cut and beard trimmed here 4 times now. Twice by Tara and the other two by others. Everyone is friendly and skilled. I'll definitely keep coming back and getting trimmed up. Always fun to listen in on the conversations between the barbers too haha.

Fantastic experience: Jenn has cut my boyfriend’s hair a handful of times and each time has been a 10/10 experience. She works quick but always does an excellent job. If you’re feeling extra. I’d really recommend the scalp exfoliation too! Hanging out waiting there is also pretty fun - there’s cool coffee table books and a solid selection of things to drink.

She really took her time to learn exactly how I wanted my hair cut and made sure to have me walking out the door looking my best. The atmosphere is relaxed and they had some good music playing. Fantastic experience: Orion was absolutely incredible. One of the best men's cuts I've ever received, usually am nervous rying new stylists but felt completely comfortable from the beginning with her. Highly recommend if you're looking for a barber in a new city.

Negative experience: I've been going here a very long time. And will not go back. Guy there cut one side of my head an inch longer. I appreciate the humor and hospitality there but I'm there for a hair cut. Honestly my last 3 cuts there were disappointing and its easier to move on.
