Fantastic experience: Lukas is awesome, he is very talented as a barber and is also hilarious. I always leave his chair having a better day than when I first got there. If you want a kickass haircut and you're cool with chatting with your barber, Lukas is your guy. I'm sure he can also accommodate those who prefer to not talk, I have just never experienced that since I prefer to chat. 10/10.

Fantastic experience: Having recently moved to Seattle, picking a new barber was very daunting and I was nervous about going anywhere. That being said, I chose to come here and went with James for my first cut and have not looked back nor gone with anyone else. I’ve now gone with him 4 or 5 times. He is super attentive to my requests and is a great conversationalist. I actively look forward to my haircuts and he deserves full recognition for his amazing work. If you are looking for a new barber, I would highly recommend him!

Negative experience: Would NOT recommend. Ive been here a couple times bc there close and normally can get me in quicker then my normal barber. First time with Gabriel was great! But I came back to start my year confident and Becky did a hack job on me. I dont even know how a professional could make it that bad. I got home and saw and debated shaving my head. I hate to complain but I decided to call in bc 50$+tip for somthing I could do with a chainsaw isn't somthing I can afford and thankfully they got me in with another barber for a recut but even then It felt rushed, was out in like 10 mins, and there was no one else there. It looks ok now just had to go way shorter then I wanted, the angles are different, its still choppy and im still left with bald spots. Im not sure why these barbers are doing this but it seems like management is squeezing them.

Negative experience: 02/05/2023: I made an online appointment for 2:45 pm. However, I accidentally went to their other location on Pike Street. When I arrived, they had to rebook my appointment for an hour later because I was five minutes late, which is understandable because I booked a buzzcut which is limited to fifteen minutes. When I arrived for my appointment, the barber asked what I wanted and I told him a zero on the sides and a little off the top and I mentioned a buzzcut. However, he gave a regular haircut with a shampoo and conditioning. This took way too long. I only wanted a very quick haircut. The sides mattered more than the top. I mentioned to the barber about my auto accident and not being able to sit very long due to the pain. The beginning of my haircut was great but then the sciatica pain started. This haircut should've only taken 10-15 minutes, like it has at other barbershops, in Phoenix; before I moved to Seattle. Lastly, either the shampoo or conditioner caused a bad allergic reaction, because my scalp is very itchy and bright red. The other barber may have rebooked my appointment as a regular haircut. Although, this should've been rectified when I mentioned buzzcut. As a result, I was charged $39 rather than $22. If there was a discrepancy, the barber -- who rebooked my appointment -- should've mentioned. Also, the barber said he only comes into work if he makes at least $300. What do I care? It's better support a small barbershop rather than a corporation. The interaction is better and you are supporting the owner directly.

Negative experience: Honestly, feel like my better option would have been great clips. Literally, had chunks of hair that weren’t cut at all. No shampoo/cleanup/style offered or included. And, my personal pet peeve, cutting my cowlick too short in the front, such that it looks like I have horns. Worst haircut I can remember. Wish I could post a photo with my review. I don’t know the exact level of the stylist, but for others looking to book here, anyone level 3 or under is probably the equivalent of a great clips or súper cut, but at 2x the cost. Honestly, just expected better for my first visit and the cost, and feel sick to my stomach tipping 25%.

Fantastic experience: First time I came here, the lady was rude and I never came back. Until today , I went in last minute. I always think it's good to give second chances. JAMES did a fabulous job! Fantastic experience: I have been getting my haircut at Rudy’s for over a decade and been seeing Juan Gabriel for 3 years now. His service is always professional and he accommodates my requests every single visit. No matter what style or suggestion I have, he goes above and beyond every time. Negative experience: The haircuts are fine haircuts. It is pretty consistent. I've not had a "bad" experience because of them. Most times they don't style or do a shampoo after the cut (which as far as I understand is included in the price) but I was just ok with ignoring that. The reason I am leaving this review is that the pricing is not consistent, and after getting charged $65 (not including tip!) this time around I am wildly disappointed. Your website says "starting from $42". I would thus expect it to be at least in that range, AND I'd like to know before when I'm going to be paying $20 extra dollars for the same haircut. I wasn't going to complain about the price difference in person anyways, but your person at the counter was on their phone the whole interaction and then walked off halfway through checking me out. I'd at least like a heads up. Regardless of it it's preferred by the business or stylists this way, it's unfair practice to leave customers guessing for how much they'll be charged if they select "any stylist" with no warning.

At Rudy’s, we use a level system for our stylists. Based on their client demand and retail expertise, stylists are promoted through levels, each with different service pricing. At our Pine Street location, we have levels 1 through 6. The starting at price reflects each shop’s lowest level stylist, or level 1 in Pine Streets instance.

When you select “first available booking,” you’ll be paired with any stylist who has availability—this could be someone at any level. Typically, lower-level stylists have more open slots, but that’s not always the case. Once you enter your contact information, you’ll see the price point of the available stylist on the “CONFIRM AND RESERVE” screen, which looks like a small receipt. After entering your card information, your email confirmation will include the stylist’s name and level.

Currently, our online booking platform doesn’t allow you to choose a “first available” stylist by level. If that’s something you’re looking for, feel free to give us a call—we’d be happy to walk you through all the options available at your preferred time. Alternatively, below the “first available booking” section, you’ll find a list of each shop’s stylists along with their levels and corresponding pricing. Clicking on a stylist will show you their individual availability.

Regarding the missed wash and style—thank you so much for the heads-up, and I sincerely apologize. That service is absolutely included, and I’ll work with our team to ensure it’s consistently offered moving forward. Negative experience: I have to say something. After years of coming here on and off—my satisfaction with their cuts has gone from adequate to feeling ripped off. Tonight I went in with my partner. My cut was under 20 mins and not a proper skin fade. Didn’t have time to do the “beard” despite only taking 15 minutes for the next cut. So rushed it coulda been a super cut. The prices aren’t rushed though. 100 bucks for half hours work. Plus tip mind you. the 26 dollars beard trim was slightly better. she took some time to line it up. this is almost every time I go. and i go because i usually schedule last minute and they always have walk i n slots available…imagine that. save your self the dough. they aren’t barber’s here. it’s an overpriced great clips. with more tattoos and not much more talent

Negative experience: Calvin: "Looks good?" Me: "No dude, not satisfied" Calvin: "What! I have taken 30 mins to work on your hair. What else do you want?" I guess one could take as much time as one wants to do a bad job!! And this is such a bad job that I can't even get myself to post my picture as proof. Overall - If you want to shell $50+ for a bad haircut then this is your place! I have been to this place 4 times and have returned unhappy each time. This time around sealed the deal. Can't come here again. In fact I'm having to look for another hairdresser over the weekend. Based on my past experiences, this time I came prepared. I took time to show a photo of how I'd like my hair to be, and explained in detail what I'd like. Frankly, though, it was quite straightforward - keep overall haircut round. And the outcome could not have been far from it. Flat on the sides with minimal hair removed from the top. And then the whole ordeal about happened around lack of my satisfaction. It felt like I have done a blasphemy. In any case. Hope this post helps someone. One of the very few low ratings I have given.

Fantastic experience: For me personally, salons and haircuts can be intimidating- to know what style you want, or to know that you need to change something and need guidance on where to start. I came into Rudy’s during a vulnerable personal period, feeling like my hair texture had changed and no longer reflected me, and Michael Simons was genuinely a fairy godmother with scissors instead of a wand. He reassured me about the normalcy of texture adjustments over the life of hair and recommended types of shampoo/conditioner and hair oil to adjust my routine, while still keeping the maintenance low. He nailed the perfect layering that I didn’t even know I wanted- I literally came back to him from another state to get my hair cut again. Remembered me and made some expert adjustments and a second PERFECT haircut. Book with him, I can’t recommend him enough.

Negative experience: I was hesitant to spend $65 on a haircut from a barber I didn’t know, but the good reviews convinced me to give it a shot. Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. The haircut lasted only 7 minutes door to door—yes, I checked the time—and felt completely rushed. I understand it was NYE and the barber’s last cut of the day, but the lack of care was unacceptable. I asked for a mid fade and ended up with an uneven, high-and-tight cut that barely resembles a fade. To top it off, I had to repeatedly ask for it to be styled before being haphazardly done and rushed out the door. One of the worst haircuts I’ve ever received.

Negative experience: I went in because it says walk ins welcome although I had my sights on going here all day! The front desk gentlemen with the blonde hair gave me a time available which would’ve been an hour. He needed a card on file for the appt if not then I would have to come back at that time. Since I was at the bar ACrOSS the street I would just call because I didn’t want to give someone that hadn’t even asked me what I wanted to get yet but they had the nerve to ask me for my card to put on file. I asked if I could just call again I’m not far, still refused. I was done at that point!!!!he needs better training or something because clearly he isn’t competent enough to understand anything it seems. As I walked out the door he says oh yea you can do that. And to witness a stylist right there not step in to save this situation is beyond me , so you don’t want to make a sale? For someone else atleast there? Or is it because I’m black? Dumb stuff like that really makes you wonder?

Fantastic experience: Andreus just gave me probably the greatest haircut I've had in my life - not hyperbolic. Like, I've had good haircuts in my life but when I really introspect on the *best*, I think this one was. Extraordinarily professional and skilled, great communication, gave exact and precise description of everything he was doing and gave me clear choices at every stage. Technique is top notch, and he clearly understood what I was after and executed perfectly. I have great appreciation for craftsmanship and Andreus is clearly a master. In my case I got a "short" cut for my slightly longer than usual hair - involving a trim of a little under and inch all around, cleaning up around the ears, rounded at the back and a lot of bulk taken off. Just the fact that I can describe it so clearly is testament to the quality of communication.

Negative experience: Went for Dallas thickening treatment and was super disappointed. The stylist did not even wash hair properly and finished entire treatment in just 5 mins. I have been to Rudys branches before but this time at 614 E pine street it was a very poor customer experience.

Fantastic experience: I chose Andreus because of all the reviews and he certainly lived up to them! I chose quite an intense cut and he did it all, quite quickly, and talked me through the entire process, gave advice, and how to properly style! I was extremely nervous as I didnt have a haircut at a shop in over 10 years. As soon as I sat down in the seat, showed some references, Andreus made me immediately feel comfortable. I highly recommend this hairstylist! The prices were also very cheap, and they said if I wasnt happy with it I could come in in 7 days for a free fix (which I personally will not do because Im very happy with it!) I got a trim, hair wash, shave, bangs, and a mullet style.

Negative experience: Want your week ruined and to wear a hat for the next 3 months? This is your place. Haircut I asked for couldn't have been simpler. 2 guard on the sides and 1" off evenly on top. Exactly what I have now (~6" even across the top) just trimmed up. Imagine my surprise when I leave with a reverse mullet looking like Kate Gosselin in 2010. When I asked for an inch off, how are there now handfuls of 5" of hair on the floor? They will look you dead in your eyes and say ok to a simple trim then give you whatever haircut they feel like doing. Bring your beanie in, you'll be to embarrassed to leave without it.

Positive experience: Rudys has been helpful and kind on getting an issue resolved with me due to a past experience described below. Changing my review due to their kind reaching out and desire to resolve the issue. ----- 35 minutes after my scheduled appointment time and... my scheduled barbor went on to the next appointment? My appointment was ignored. It seems there was a mistake and they completely skipped me. I ended up becoming a walk-in to get a haircut from someone else.

Negative experience: Arrived 4 minutes after my appointment schedule and barber Hutch refused to cut my hair. Extremely unprofessional and clearly just interested in making money without doing work. Literally the worst customer interaction Ive had in years. Edit: Original appointment was for 9, I scheduled another appointment for 9:30. Sarah was amazing and took me at 9:05 on the spot. Finished at 9:25. Hutch walked out at 9:05 and didn't return.

Fantastic experience: Went in for a big cut, the shop was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was definitely my first real hair cut in a few years so I was a bit nervous and unsure- my hair was quite long and I wanted to try something shorter. The stylist Zaylee was very professional and knowledgeable, and gave me input and direction when I couldn't really make up my mind, and I left really happy with the hair cut I got- it is quite a change and I'm feeling quite ready for a great summer. Negative experience: I liked my haircut! But charging a 3% credit card fee, while also not keeping a till to make change for cash payments (so customers need to bring exact change or pay the fee), is a greasy move.

This is a good place to get a hair cut and the individual who cut my hair was friendly and did a awesome job. Negative experience: While visiting Seattle I brought my 13 year old son in, which he had long hair. The stylist” LUKE” was discussed from the start, rolling his eyes as I stated what we wanted and tried to show him a picture and refused to look at it. My son came out with a crooked Bob, instead of a feathered layered look that I tried to show them from the start. I am now back in my hometown at a salon as I speak, redoing the expensive haircut from Rudy’s. he was rude, and very unprofessional and had no desire to listen as he thinks he knew everything.

Fantastic experience: I'll be honest, I've been to the Rudy's on the hill for quite some time now. Firstly, I definitely recommend looking at the stylists portfolios, then booking the stylist you liked the most on the Rudy's website. I will say it has been a little hit or miss (in the past) when just simply taking any stylists available. HOWEVER I could not, not mention the absolute best experience I had the other day with stylist Juan Gabriel. He was extremely helpful with providing tips on how to ensure my hair stays looking fabulous after just transforming my hair from Rapunzel to...Rapunzel with short hair, but in like a Zendaya NAACP Image Awards kinda way. All of that to say that I couldn't have thanked Gabriel enough for the experience and hope he gets a raise! Cheers

Negative experience: This barbershop is very disappointing. I was indeed surprised, how a lot of folks coming here every time I passed. I’m a 1st timer costumer in this barbershop and never coming back. I had my haircut in this location to try and see how good their service.Thinking maybe they’ll do my monthly haircut. Unfortunately the experience is not good as what I was expected. The standard of the service and the professionalism is very very poor. They rush my haircut and finished it in just 10 minutes. The package that I got for my service is included with a hair wash but guy who did my hair didn’t do it and said to me that my hair is done. Didn’t say anything and just thought how poor the service are. Thinking maybe it would be a good idea to make some review to this business. I won’t mention the name but I’m sure when he read this review he will recognize me, just for his dignity as well. But I hope that this will be a lesson learned for him to everyone that you need to give a good quality of the service that you’re providing to your client, specially in this industry. Hair is what you wear everyday single day and having it with pride will help you feel good. Paying the price of the cut is not a problem for me but the experience is not what I expected. Providing a good impression will last to your client and that is very important. The price of the service is not worth it. Be aware of coming here, specifically for those 1st timer. There’s a lot of barber in Seattle area that is more worth spending your $$$. Words of mouth are very powerful.

Fantastic experience: Just got a pixie cut from Andreus at the Capitol Hill (Pine) location. The other reviewers are right; Andreus was willing to look at pics and talk me through the specifics of what I wanted, and gave me multiple opportunities to check in and give feedback. He made me feel totally comfortable and gave me a great cut! I've been out of Seattle for the last three years, so the price bump was a bit of a shock when I booked ($39- if I recall correctly a short cut used to run more like $25) but I'm not sure how many places there are to get a solid cut for significantly cheaper in the city (I don't drive, so bus-able is important to me).

Negative experience: It was a pretty mediocre experience. Not worth the money. I just wanted a trim, which went fine. I was put off by the hygiene though. The covering on me smelled quite bad, and the towel that was used to cover the equipment on the table was covered in hair. I requested the stylist to dry my hair completely as I was going out and being out with damp hair gives me headaches. This was not done - I left with damp hair. I had to go home to dry it out completely, which delayed my plans for the night. The products used made my hair feel a bit strange too - kinda rough and almost frizzy. The online reservation stated that a “long haircut” came with a shampoo, a short scalp massage and conditioning. My shampoo and conditioning lasted about 2 minutes and only the top parts were done - the hair along the nape of my neck was untouched. There was no massage at all lol. I was looking forward to it after a long day, so I was a bit disappointed.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been rollin with a blunt bob for the past two years and inevitably it grows out in a couple months and rather than planning ahead I scramble to find an available appointment in nearby salons. In the past at a Rudy’s in Phinney Ridge I’ve received a bob cut that was fine but not great, but I thought I’d give this Rudy’s a chance. So glad I did! Andreus D. took such good care of me and was probably the most attentive and communicative barber/stylist I’ve had to date! He would explain everything he was doing before doing it and check in with me from beginning to end. My bob was even (unlike other salons), the right length, and in line with what I communicated that I wanted. Also the past two haircuts I’ve had with him I’ve been able to schedule <1 week in advance which is super convenient. Thanks Andreus!

Fantastic experience: After growing out my hair for two years, I decided to get it cut with some layering and shaping. I went to another salon about two months before, and to my dismay they left me with uneven layers. I booked a long cut at Rudy's with the hope that they could fix it up for me. Andreus was wonderful! Within 20 minutes he fixed my uneven layers and even changed my appointment type from a long cut to a short cut (my hair is right on the line between the two so I was unsure which one to pick initially). A week later and my hair has never looked better! If I had to complain about one thing, it would be that the music in the shop on this particular day was really loud. Andreus and I had to almost yell in order to be able to hear one another despite the fact that he was standing right behind me. Overall I had a wonderful experience :)

Positive experience: On a sunny day, we suddenly wanted to chop off our hair. Most places were booked solid for a month. We checked Rudy's website and found available appointments. It was so convenient. My husband loved his haircut. He had a specific haircut in mind and it looked exactly like it after the cut. I had long hair, so I was skeptical about shortening it. However, I really didn't have to worry the haircut was perfect.

Negative experience: Was just over minutes late to an appointment and had it cancelled on me when I arrived. I asked the front desk with assistance to reschedule at another location or for another time and they were unwilling to help. Walked out of the store and rebooked with a time that was 45 minutes later. Found the front desk staff to be incredibly unhelpful in assisting me as a customer with limited parking in the area.

Fantastic experience: ALL THE STARS FOR GABRIEL AND TEAM HERE! I came here in need of a cut before starting a new job after a few months of struggling after escaping my a DV situation. As an autistic adult, it can sometimes be very terrifying to receive a haircut, and I’ve had plenty of bad experiences as a kid that left me cutting my own hair for years. I’ve been wanting to grow out my hair long for a minute, but have always dealt with the damage of hair dye and bleach after never knowing exactly what to do with my hair. GABRIEL —— was a star. It was scary going shorter and wanting to hold on to that dead hair to preserve length, but I know Gabriel did my hair RIGHT. he set me on the path for growing my hair out finally in life for the first time and getting the eventual punky long mullet of my dreams while giving me the fresh pixie summer vibes I was going for as well. I will definitely be back to see them, and I can’t wait to be in a place where I can repay it forward and help someone out like I was. Thank you to Justin and all of Youthcare for what they do, thank you Gabriel and all of Rudy’s on Pine for being so kind, welcoming, and accepting of an autistic adult who struggles greatly with PTSD and public interaction. I feel like so many bad memories and energy were just chopped straight off. Bless your hearts. Thank you.

Negative experience: Very pretentious atmosphere. Been to other Rudy's and never got this vibe. My hair was likely 3/8 inch past jawline and they wanted to haggle the price of a long haircut. I told them sure, fine charge for a long haircut. Whatever. The man does about 4 snips and lobs off some bangs which I specifically told not to touch. Took less than 2 minutes. I was a bit stunned and they were so pretentiously unapproachable that I just paid, courtesy tipped, and left --because heaven forbid one complain like a "Karen" expecting to get what they pay for. Just depressed and laying low waiting for it to grow out. It's a terrible haircut. If you want to pay for an overpriced terrible haircut served up with pretentious attitude, then this is the place for you. (Just for clarification, I wouldn't have considered this an overpriced haircut had it been a quality cut, but this was worse than going to a Great Clips.)

Negative experience: Like a few others who have left a review of this Rudy’s location, I arrived 2 or 3 minutes past their 5 minute cut off, running inside to make it to my appointment, (traffic in capitol hill is bad!) and was immediately turned away and given a horrible attitude about being 2 minutes late. I only wanted a 2 inch trim as well. After reading some reviews, this seems to mostly happen to people of color like myself…this is strange and is very disappointing considering Rudy’s prides themselves on inclusivity. I will never try to go to Rudy’s again.

My sincerest apologies we weren’t able to get you in. And even further apologies that our late policy made you feel excluded or unwelcomed. I understand it can be very frustrating to not get the service you were looking forward to.

It is bummer because we find ourselves in a sticky situation when moments like this happen. Previously, we used to take clients upwards of 10 minutes late. However, when we did that, that stylist would often run late for the remainder of the day affecting all the remaining clients afterwards. We would get one-star reviews along the lines of, “I was on time for my appointment, but my stylist was running late because their previous client was late. I am disappointed and feel that it was unprofessional that they valued their time more than mine.” Alternatively, we have even tried in the past to accommodate late clients by offering to skip a shampoo, or something similar, to make up for the lost time without affecting the future clients. That too netted us one-star reviews along the lines of “my stylist made me feel rushed after arriving to my appointment a few minutes late. I do not feel like I got the service I was looking for.” We have even contemplated adding a buffer time between appointments to accommodate for late clients. However, that would mean the stylists would make less money in a day or we would have to raise prices for everyone to compensate.

Based on the above feedback of prior clientele, and that fact that most of our appointments are attended on-time, we have decided they best thing we can do is ask the client who is late to reschedule for another time where we can offer them the time and service they deserve without impacting our time commitments to the rest of our clientele. Rest assured that we are actively looking for more talented stylists to join our team to ease pressure on our books and hopefully to even offer more walk-in services. But until then, we often find ourselves fully booked out with little option for us to accommodate clients more than 5 minutes late without directly affecting the quality of the service for the client who is late or without running late to the appointments booked afterwards.

I sincerely hope this sheds some light on the matter. Again, my apologies we were not able to serve that appointment and even more so for making you feel like we did not want you as a client. I promise you that the latter is not the case. I sincerely hope that we get the opportunity to work you again the future despite this occurrence. Nonetheless, thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback. It goes a long way in allowing us to consider how our policies affect and are received by the clientele that we serve. Negative experience: Came 9 minutes late for my short cut and apparently if you get 5 minutes late they have to reschedule your appointment… I asked if I could get a cut still since they had a lot of available spots at the barber shop but thev said they were fully “booked”. I’m pretty disappointed how inflexible this place is despite it being the first time late out of 5+ times coming. Never coming here again.

I'm so sorry we couldn't get you in today. Taking appointments after the 5 minute mark means we either rush your cut or run late for everyone who is booked after you. We are understaffed and our books are tight, as you can imagine. I swear to you that this is not a personal slight to you. We only do this make sure we can offer you the time needed for a quality cut while running as close to on time for those booked after you. Negative experience: I called to change my appointment, but they were apparently booked up for the rest of the night. This was understandable, but when I arrived for my 4:45 appointment at 4:52 (7 minutes late), they turned me away. They said they couldn’t cut my hair even though I was only two minutes past the five-minute policy and the shop was practically empty. The two employees at the front desk were extremely disrespectful with their tone to me and said that since I had ironed my hair it would take too long since I was “almost ten minutes late” (I was not). This is ridiculous. The management is unbelievably bad and inconsiderate of traffic and other circumstances.

Hello Maia,

Please forgive the delay. I was out sick for the last week. I am so sorry we were not able to get you in. I know it was not ideal for you and was likely very frustrating. I also want to thank you for taking the time to leave us some constructive feedback. I wanted to take a second to clarify why we must be so strict with our late policy in hopes that you may understand why we did what we did. We must be strict with our late policy because failure to do so typically means one of two situations:

a) We compromise your cut. At seven minutes late, we’ve already exhausted 15% of the time to provide your service. We simply want to make sure we have the time to get you the service you expect. Less time often means less quality.
-or-
b) We run late to all our other clients who have booked after you.

Neither of those solutions are quality customer service and that is why we ask clients to reschedule in situations like these. We try to be as transparent about this expectation as possible between a reminder on every confirmation email and the policy being recited every time a client calls the shop.

I’ll certainly follow-up with the shop to make sure that they are sharing this information in a respectful and polite manner. I know tensions can, at times, run high. The client is upset that are not being served, and the stylist is bumming because now they are not making money by providing the service. My sincerest apologies for any off vibes you experienced at our shop. However, out of respect for the rest of our clientele, we cannot allow clients to show up more than 5 minutes late when we are not able to accommodate without impacting other parties.

Fantastic experience: Great cut. Nice and fast with only a 5 minute wait. I haven't had my hair cut in the US for a few months and... Inflation. Is $39 normal? Like I said it's a good cut.
