Negative experience: Just got the worst haircut of my life at Floyds! Over time I've noticed the quality of the stylist here declining. I started avoiding one or two stylist and now it's just half the room. I just had a stylist cut my hair that literally had no idea what she was doing. There are giant blotches of hair uncut on my head and she had no idea how to fade from a one guard up into my head and the boundary layer is all wavey and choppy. Also didn't know her left from right. That will be my last visit to Floyds.

Fantastic experience: It took me years to find Stasia at Floyds. After years of looking for the right stylist, years of substandard, inconsistent haircuts, Stasia is authentic, efficient, and damn good at making me look great.

Negative experience: I called ahead and they said I could come right in. I needed a SIMPLE straight across haircut on long hair. It's usually a 5 minute service at Supercuts but they were closing at 7pm and it was almost 7. I drove to Floyd's, sat for 40 minutes, watched several guys come in and get their haircut, then the guy I spoke to on the phone sat down and said there was a misunderstanding and they don't cut long hair. WHAT?! It's a haircut place. What a waste of time. Incredibly disappointed, don't stop by for a long hair cut unless you need some time to scroll on your phone and walk out looking the exact same.

Negative experience: Just to be clear I’ve been going here for over two years now and it’s been nothing but stellar. Rogers is a very attentive and talented stylist as he works very well with me to make sure I’m comfortable as I have autism. HOWEVER, the reason for my one star review today is because of how I was treated just 15 minutes ago. I was just three minutes late from my 11:30 appointment and I was not seated because I was late. When I mentioned, I was just a few minutes late due to traffic. They said they can’t see me today with Rogers because of their five minute policy. When I mentioned, it’s only been a few minutes they reiterated that they can’t see me with Rogers today and I’d have to reschedule or wait 10 to 20 minutes to be taken care of by someone else. I mentioned I would have to reschedule because Rogers does a very good job with my hair and due to my autism, haircuts are extremely difficult for me to manage. I will still continue going here because Rogers is very talented and communicative. However, I would recommend arriving 10 minutes early to avoid potentially not getting your appointment taken seriously. This is very unprofessional and infuriating for someone like me who actively struggles with simple daily tasks and activities due to autism.

Negative experience: Would not recommend to no one this place is terrible Barbara dose not listen to what you want I asked for a 0.5 inch off and she took at least 2 inches would not recommend

Fantastic experience: Danny was my go to barber for skin fades at Floyds99. When he gave me a skin fade for the last time, he insinuated he was going to leave and told me “when I’m gone, you need to go to Itri. I’m telling now, he’s the man. He’s the best.” Today I got my first fade from Itri — not only did it look amazing, but I felt so relaxed and was struggling to stay awake because it just felt so therapeutic.” I will be coming here from now on, my skin fade looks so crisp. Thank you so much.

Negative experience: Never again will I ever go to this barbershop spent $45 on a 10 minute haircut and the person that cut my hair was a cosmetology not even a barber. I’ve could’ve cut my hair by myself for the price and she couldn’t even do an edge up.

Fantastic experience: First haircut in Austin and it was a success. I’m a guy who thinks his hair is very important lol I actually flew back home to get my first 2 haircuts while still living in Austin. (Family visits) but can’t keep that up. So I took a chance and scored.

Fantastic experience: I have had such poor experiences trying to find an affordable place that can do curly hair. Barbara was amazing!! My hair is very thick and curly, upper back length. She updated my layers and trimmed my dead ends while keeping the length and its one of the best haircuts I've gotten in my life!! My hair bounced back to life for the first time in so long and im so happy. Will absolutely be back!! $43 (silly photo from the day of where i was rained on it was humid out and it dried looking so great still)

Safe to say my boys have found a new place for their haircuts because they had such a great experience. They love their new cuts! Negative experience: Stacia L did my boyfriends haircut/beard trim. He was too nice to say anything but she really did an awful job, the line on his neck is crooked/his face is patchy/and she didn't even touch his moustache. He paid and left because he is a nice guy but he will not be going back to that location and I recommend all other go elsewhere as well

Fantastic experience: I came in under the name “fox” and was cut and styled by a young man (forgot his name) and he did great. Wanted to touch up my bangs a few hours later and he did for no charge. Was happy with how the bangs ended up and he fixed them in less than 10 minutes. They were fine before but after running around I decided I wanted to go a different direction with them and he did awesome.

Fantastic experience: Buggs cut my hair, and he did an excellent job. I love the shoulder mass and hot towel. Not many barber shops offer the extra perks. Will be going back.

Negative experience: Cody c gave me a lop sided haircut. I even after the rude attitude tipped 20%. We discussed a trim and I was given an emo cut

Fantastic experience: We took our 12 yo son to get a pretty basic but stylish haircut (for the first time) and we chose Floyd's. My son had a hairdo in mind (some fadey, peaky blindersy type thing) and the stylist made it happen perfectly, and it looked PHENOMENAL! He had a great experience and looked awesome for months. Then, we moved to a house that was a little further away from Floyd's... so when the boy needed his next haircut, we decided to go to some other spot. Some other pretty popular spot that was a little closer (but spendier! And less cool in terms of vibes!).... Anyway, long story short: the other place totally botched my sons haircut. Like, it was bad. He looked like the Doofus version of Rick, from Rick & Morty!! His haircut looked like a bowl cut and a fade had a baby. An ugly, awful baby. Luckily, we scheduled an emergency visit at Floyd's [where we were welcomed back with open arms] and they were THANKFULLY able to easily fix the mess! And they helped us select the perfect pomade .....AND they actually taught the kid how to DO his hair (a miracle!) They just were super cool. So now Floyd's is officially the only place for us. Never again shall we be too lazy to drive 8 extra minutes! Floyd rules!

Negative experience: Maybe it's because he has been cutting hair for years, but Itri has an attitude problem has gotten worse even when people arrive on time/before their haircut is scheduled. I've given him a few chances but can't do it anymore. No other barber has made me bleed as he has.

Fantastic experience: Been a Floyd’s customer for a number of years now but I noticed the cuts weren’t as good as in the past so decided to try the north Lamar location and booked with Megan. Total satisfaction! Megan did a great cut and loving it on day two. Through my encouragement for input she gave some great ideas and said she thought I would be happy with it before she even started. She was spot on! I love it Megan!! You have a new fan and customer!

Fantastic experience: We’ve been going to Lys for a while. We’ve seen other stylists at the North Lamar location and liked them all, but once we got Lys that’s who we always request now. The music and overall vibe are great and very welcoming — like a slice of old Austin without sacrificing the fresh, current feel. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: It was an easy and quality experience. Getting an appointment and choosing a person is easy. The person I picked was sick and they contacted me multiple times to reschedule, giving me options. I got Barbara and plan to go back to Barbara after getting a perfect, quality haircut. $40 for a mid-length cut and $10 tip is less than any other option that I’ve found around here that isn’t an amateur— and Barbara showed her experience with my curly hair. She was a good chat, too. I look forward to continuing with Floyd’s and Barbara and to recommend this to any and everybody!

Negative experience: Very poor experience at this location. UPDATE: Dear Floyd's, I wrote you guys at that email when the experience happened. There was no response. Quit asking your customers to email that address when nobody responds. It's a joke.

Negative experience: I never write reviews, but my recent experiences with Itri have compelled me to do so. I've been going to him for several haircuts, initially choosing him because he seemed professional and experienced. The first haircut was fine, taking about 20-25 minutes. However, recent visits have been disappointing. Haircuts now last only 5-7 minutes, resulting in basic styles you could get anywhere for less. More concerning is Itri's attitude - he often seems irritated, rolling his eyes as if I'm an inconvenience. My last visit was the worst. When I politely asked for "slightly" shorter sides, Itri became visibly annoyed and cut it extremely short. When I mentioned it was too short, he said, "This is what you get if you want shorter!" I'm not sure what's causing Itri's behavior, but it's unprofessional. While I can tolerate an average haircut, the poor attitude is unacceptable. I won't be returning and can't recommend Itri as a barber. To be clear, my issue is not the barbershop itself!

Fantastic experience: Barbara is such a great stylist, been going to her and Floyd’s for the past three years. With every new store opening/transition she’s had I’ve followed suit because of how hard it is find a good stylist. The experience that she provides is exceptional to say the least, with her expertise and patience when finding a new style is amazing to have. Additionally, she is a very interesting person to talk to so there’s never a dull moment during the cut. Highly recommend going to Floyd’s!

Negative experience: DO NOT PAY ATTENTION TO THE 5 STAR RATINGS! The reviewers are obviously bots and do not represent the actual business. Went to Floyd's because it was cheaper and decently rated compared to most places and had Itri as my barber. When I sat down he was not concerned about the pictures and my instructions on my hair shape and preferences but only on the number clippers to start. When I asked for him to be careful because he ignored instructions and started cutting too short, he responded with "do you want to take over?", and continued to cut shorter. During my entire appointment he was rushing to get done and caught my ears with the clippers MULTIPLE times. At the end, he did not want to admit he messed up and I was out $32 and a terrible haircut.

Negative experience: don’t go to this location. I always get a a Floyd’s cut. Have been going to Floyd’s for 10+ years. This location tries to nickel and dime you by forcing you to pay for the mid length haircut like no other Floyd’s location. It is quite odd to do this to customers who comes so often.

Negative experience: A 10 minute cut from Itri. On top of this he was rude, rolled his eyes at me when I asked "are you really done?". $40 down the drain. In shock! I look horrible. Going to a real barbershop to drop another $40 to fix this. Otherwise the other barbers looked like they were doing great work and the vibe of the shop was super cute. The employee at the front desk was sooo nice. Sadly will never be returning here! Sent pics of my cut to my friends and cackling over it - it's so bad! LOL

Fantastic experience: Have been coming to Floyd’s since I moved to Austin (3 years) and do not plan on switching barber shops soon. They always answer the phone and facilitate setting and appointment time. The cleanliness of the shop is always good and the service speaks for itself. Really recommend to anyone who is looking for a new barber shop.

Fantastic experience: Ever since I was a kid I would always choose Floyd’s. Not only do they give me what I ask for almost flawlessly, but are fairly priced and always manage the time to get me an appointment. The interior is a great vibes with magazines and chairs if you are waiting for a haircut. They even sell hair products too. Every barber there has a genuine passion for what they do. From scissors to razors and massages, they do everything with excellence.

Negative experience: Almost an hour for a simple short haircut, would have been fine with clippers only. Spent over 30 minutes focusing on the sides/back, very odd. Seemed afraid to touch the top or use scissors. Wish me luck as I drink whiskey trying to forget about this experience, while contemplating shaving my head. Save your time and light $40 on fire. Will not be back

Over 5 years, I’ve had three different stylists and have never been disappointed. Everyone actively listens to what you want and they take feedback very well, even mid-cut! Negative experience: Last visit here. Used to go to Niko before was great. This time got a 7 min haircut from Itri, so much hurry to kick a customer out. Have long strands of hair middle of short hairs. Have to redo haircut

Fantastic experience: A haircut at Floyd's will get you many women. I just had the best haircut of my life, all thanks to Lys at Floyd's. Lys took one look at my mop and knew exactly what to do. After a brief consultation where they somehow understood my grunts and vague gestures, we were off to the races. The fade they gave me is nothing short of a masterpiece. I’ve received more compliments from women in the past week than I have in my life. One lady even stopped mid-sentence to ask, “Who does your hair?” Another asked if she could touch it, which is definitely a first for me! Lys didn’t just give me a haircut; they gave me the confidence boost needed to approach several women. I would highly recommend Lys at Floyd's Barbershop on Lamar.

He’s super personable, listens to feedback and gives insightful suggestions; I’ve yet to be anything less than thrilled with the haircuts he’s given me! 10/10.

Negative experience: Asked if they could do a fade, they said yes. They could not. Asked for a light trim off the top. (My hair length was below my nose) I guess a light trim means my hair now barley drops over my hairline.

Negative experience: I am new to Austin and needed to get my hair cut. I asked for my mullet to be trimmed and a taper on the side. The first thing the barber does, is cut the mullet straight off. He did nothing I asked and just gave me whatever cut he wanted to give me.

Negative experience: Been going here for a while getting the same haircut routinely. Today was told my haircut was $40 instead of $32 because my hair was "longer". Charged for a medium length hair cut? What? Again, same routine haircut. Floyds just wanted to extort an extra $8 out of me. Well see ya later. No more business.

Fantastic experience: The whole process was super easy. From the ability to make a same-day appointment to the stylist who took care of me was great. I will definitely be using this as my regular place to get my hair cut.

Negative experience: I am not a the type of person to review places even when I get bad service but this was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a barber shop. I got a haircut with a bigger woman with a shaved head. She had no people skills whatsoever and couldn’t understand that I wanted a simple trim up. On top of that she was extremely rude and the hair cut sucks. Advice to management fire her she clearly does not like her job.

Negative experience: This location is hurting so badly to find hair stylists that they are hiring people without experience. If you know and use a your regular stylist then you are probably okay. I went in to Floyd's yesterday and got the worst haircut of my entire life. I was not asked at the counter how my haircut was. He dropped the comb twice and kept jambing the scissors in to my head. After an hour I asked him to stop. He completely ignored my haircut request and manged my hair. When I got home I saw how bad it really was. I could have cut my own hair better than he did. I am not a rude or picky customer. I paid the check and left him a tip. Today I go look for a place to fix the botched haircut. I will never return to Floyd's again. I blame the management for hiring an employee that should still be in school.

Negative experience: Floyd's 99 Barbershop at North Lamar: I just wanted a simple haircut, and I was very disappointed of the barber, Nick C and his work. Therefore, I highly do NOT recommend him. The funniest point is that, I showed him 4 photos and asked just to mimic. He even couldn't mimic the haircut in the photos I showed; because he didin't look at them carefully. He also looked to be rude; -I told him the style I had before, and he kind of mocked. That style was done by other stylist (who left Floyd's 99 Barbershop) and I was satisfied with their work so asked the same length of cut. Then, he (Nick C.) asked where did that barber go. :D I said, I don't know, I don't care where the stylist went, it is their life. Then, I guess he kind of I asked why I didin't go to my previous barber. (Man, it is non of your business.). My plans are changed spontaneously, and I had to leave the town the day my previous barber is off. To sum up, he does not know what to talk to his client. I'd strongly recommend him just not to talk and concentrate on his job. - Also, when I wanted just to quickly look at the mirror (during the time where he was not working on my hair), he said "straight !! straight !!". I said, "okay, but just want to see the length you cut." - He (Nick C.) also did not dry my hair until after I asked him; and while drying he kind of kept the dryer to the same place too long that I had skin burning pain for 2-2.5 hours. When I arrived home and washed my hair, the parts he left on the side was too long, because he cut my hair when it was wet, which might be misleading while cutting, and should be taken into account correspondingly "the very simplest point a barber must know!".

Positive experience: They are alright. Easy to make appointments. Never had a stylist or a haircut I loved here. Also most places, if you get a beard trim with the hair cut, there's a combo price. Here it's full price for both services when doing them together. So regular men's haircut by itself is under $35 currently which is less than other places due to haircut inflation but with the regular beard trim, it brings it to $50+ so not really worth it when it's around $10 more at a top tier place like honest barber or bearded barber. But anyway, for basic, quick mens cuts..it's alright.

Fantastic experience: Bethany did a great job with my haircut. I came in for a Floyd's cut and I was very satisfied with the cut. 10/10 will come back again and regularly!

Negative experience: Wish I could give it lower than 1 stars. They charged me $45 for a cut which was not even skin fade. Itri has no customer service etiquette. Extremely rude. I was in and out within 20 mins. Barely blended his fades. Go somewhere else

Negative experience: Walked in. Nobody was sitting in the waiting area and was told it would be 45 minutes. 40 minutes later the room fills up and multiple people kept going ahead of me that weren’t even there before me. I ask for an update and he said probably another 40 minutes. Had to leave at that point. If you don’t have a whole day to dedicate to a haircut, maybe seek another location.

Fantastic experience: Knowing the Barbers schedules and the ability to make a convenient appointment is everything. The staff makes you feel like they're actually awaiting your arrival and Sonia is masterful with the blades and razor!
