At the end of the appointment he told me the haircut was on him. I was honestly shocked. It was such an unexpected act of generosity and compassion. It made me cry to be honest. Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing!! Hands down best haircuts my boys have ever gotten! Elieser And Irvin were like craftsman; Elieser did my oldest teens (long) hair and he is the first man to ever layer it and thin it out the way we wanted (even if it’s a work in progress due to a previous cut he had and also for the look he’s going for, but with extreme knowledge and time -Elieser will help achieve that.)…. Then he did my elementary sons hair, and Elieser and Irvin (thank goodness!) talked my son out of getting random designs on the side of his head (haha kids) and so my son got the design he wanted but BETTER! and then he really wanted the other side done as well, but Elieser didn’t want it to look uneven or unbalance. So he made an even awesome little design on the other side (looks like the Houston Astro logo) and my son LOVED it! And he has received sooo many compliments!! Irvin did my ex-husbands hair along with the boys, and I swear he chatted like a girl getting a blow out haha (jk) he loved the work Irvin did, and the fading was clean as heck! My ex got exactly what he wanted (could of been shorter but hey I’m just the ex hahha jk) it was a clean cut and the blending between blade sizes seemed unrecognizable… Fantastic job! Irvin is extremely professional, I called and spoke with him after scheduling appt and he was outstanding and sooo knowledgeable. He rearranged schedules to make sure all 3 could get in, he brought Elieser in on his day off to help work with the boys on a SUNDAY to help my work schedule! We even got to drink some of the most delicious drinks (nonalcoholic) we’ve never tried while I waited for them to get done with their appt (highly recommend, Irvin can tell you where)…. Being from a small town an hour away, it was WORTH the 1.5hr drive and we will only be coming back here for future cuts!! Not only because of their patience, knowledge, affordable pricing, professional and fun atmosphere, but because how family friendly it is.. and that means something in this day-in-age… GREAT work guys!!!

Negative experience: Got a cut here and it’s easily one of the worst I’ve ever had. Uneven fade, rushed job, didn’t listen to what I asked for. The visit was brutal. Never again.

Fantastic experience: you need a haircut, go to Dylan Deanda this guy gave me the best fade I’ve ever had. His customer service is top-tier, and his skills are insane. More people need to know about him! I’m telling you, whatever style you want, he’ll nail it his hands are pure magic. This was my second time coming to him, thinking there’s no way it could be as good as the first time… and he still delivered perfectly. He will not fail you. I don’t normally write reviews, but trust me, this one’s worth it. Dylan truly deserves more recognition the man’s got serious talent.

Negative experience: Barber couldn’t speak English. Showed him a picture of what my hair looked like before. He got another barber to explain how I wanted my hair cut. Ended up leaving the shop embarrassed. When I got home my family asked “what happened “? Well it will grow back. I only went there because of the great reviews. I reluctantly wrote this review but every time I look in the mirror I’m embarrassed. It’s hard for me to explain the results to someone who can’t speak English.

Fantastic experience: I've been going to Robert for haircuts for years. He nails my cut everytime. I've got a longer beard as well and always trust him to trim it exactly how I ask and get my lines nice and clean. You won't find a better barber. A few times I've had to get a cut in a hurry and couldn't book Robert, and booked a few other barbers at south austin barber shop. They all gave great cuts as well. Good shop all around!

I’m going to make you look good.” The only reason this isn’t a one star review is because the manager did the right thing when my wife called and had her bring him in for someone else to fix it. Fantastic experience: Harry is the best in the game—no question about it. He’s not just a barber, he’s a true artist with the clippers. Harry’s cut for some of the most elite clients out there—Wall Street and New York executives, Chicago power players, star athletes from the Houston Astros, and big names in the music world. His work speaks for itself, but what really sets him apart is who he is as a person. Harry treats you like family. He’ll go out of his way to make sure you walk out feeling your absolute best. When I lived in Texas and later moved to Denver, I would literally fly back just to get a cut from him—that’s how serious it was. I don’t have hair anymore, but back when I did, no one else was touching it but Harry. Even when I was broke, Harry still came through for me. He worked with me, made time, and never made me feel less than. Loyalty like that is rare. If you’ve got hair, trust me—get in his chair. You’ll never want another barber again.

Negative experience: Walked in with the assumption of good service given the reviews. Just received one of the worst haircuts I could imagine from a guy who spoke practically no English, refused to wear a barbers vest and used no alcohol. Asked for a slight trim with no more than 2 centimeters taken off the side and left the chair with a Dominican Mohawk. Refuse to go back

An abandoned food wrapper and a soda on the floor. Some kid kicked it over. I'd go back for the great cut, but i would have to know they were tidier.

Positive experience: Shop is currently one way in/one way out because of construction barricades but once you get in, this little shop has talented barbers waiting to get you looking sharp. Good convo and good vibes along with your precision cut is what you can expect. You pay the going rate of $40 for a cut and can customize service when you make an appointment on Schedulicity. Great fades/cuts.

Positive experience: It seems like a good location. Perhaps I went on an off day. I took my son to get what he calls a "today's modern mullet." The guy ended up giving him a regular old school mullet. But the guy insisted it looked good. I paid for the service but am not going there again. Yes, I went to someone else, and they gave him what he asked for. The location is very small, so if your clusterphobic don't go here. The front waiting benches were very uncomfortable, very small and dirty with cut hair. To pay, you have to download an app, and pay the barber thru that. Luckily, I was able to just Venmo him.

Negative experience: I really, really wanted to love this place and debated about posting this. The store and people there definitely have a great vibe. But the amount of razor bumps and cuts on my neckline after a haircut from Matt today is just unacceptable. Wish I noticed it in the shop so I could have mentioned it then and there, but I’ve been dealing with the irritation all day since. I’ve never walked away from a haircut with this much damage in my skin. The haircut itself was a little conservative for my taste, but I let him do what he wanted so I can’t really fault him for that. I have to assume the bumps are a fluke considering this store’s reputation, but I won’t be returning. I will say Cris at the Slaughter location has done good work for me and I would recommend him.

Fantastic experience: I've been a customer of Matt's for 6 years and he always does a good job. People tend to ask me where I get my haircut and I always refer them to south austin barbershop if they live close. There is one thing he can improve and it's his time management with his haircuts. At times he will go past his scheduled time by 20-25min and at times he is no where to be found when I arrive and have to wait on him. Other than that I will keep coming back to him cause he is the only one who understands my hair.

Positive experience: After several visits to South Austin Barbershop, I've had the opportunity to have my hair cut by Matt Wandersee, an experienced barber with 13 years in the industry. Matt's skill in delivering a quality fade is undeniable, but I was disappointed by his poor time management, leading to significant delays during each visit. Additionally, on multiple occasions, his quiet demeanor meant that there wasn't much conversation during the haircut. Improving his punctuality and engaging more with customers would greatly enhance the overall customer experience.
