Negative experience: Im still in the parking lot, the website says walk ins welcome, they told me they are booked until tomorrow EXEPT one barber sitting outside watching videos on his phone and the reception asked him if he would do a beard trim and he just shook his head NO!

Fantastic experience: Ortahaus is the number 1 spot to get a men’s cut in Houston. I’ve been coming to Davie for years but it does not matter whose chair you are on. Great place if you want a good experience and your hair cut right.

Negative experience: I have been to this barbershop five or six times, every time before I wanted a simple short haircut and it was great. However, for the last three months I have been trying to grow my hair out for a longer look. It had gotten kind of misshapen and so I wanted to have someone even it out and trim it to give it a better shape as it grew. I showed the barber multiple pictures of the haircut I was going for and tried to answer some pretty simple questions. He proceeds to cut for over 30 minutes and basically cuts all of my hair off. Now months of work is wasted and I will need to have it fixed again as it grows.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to Ortahaus for close to 2 years now . I never tire of the ambiance and the friendly barbers in the shop. I know them all by their personal names. I really feel at home . Especially Davie , that’s my personal barber. He’s my favorite! I can’t say enough about my experiences.

After swapping barbers every couple of months for a few years I FINALLY found my guy - Memo. The Ortahaus website has photos of each pro and I randomly picked the one with the best haircut - Memo. My wife has never complimented my hair so much after this hair wizard blessed my head with his skills. Memo isn’t only a master of his craft but he’s genuinely a good dude, the best conversationalist, and always leaves me with positive vibes and a sickass haircut. I’m sure all of the talent at Ortahaus is superb but in my opinion go with Memo if you want a guaranteed good job. Highly recommended!!!

Negative experience: Awful experience. Terrible communication. if you do go don't get Ethan. Unprofessional, inexperienced, and rough. Agreed on a haircut from a picture and specifically asked to keep it long and left with a haircut that didn't match the pictute whatsoever. My neck was also scrapped and cut. The finished haircut was also uneven and not blended. Had to go to a different barber to attempt to fix it. Do not recommend this place. there are plenty of other places with way better service for cheaper as well. if I could give less stars I would. If you're considering this place go elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: Jayson P cut my hair today. While I had pretty set ideas for going from very long to very short, Jayson had other suggestions and I’ll be damned if he wasn’t right. The cut he suggested suited me way better than what I had in mind. The beard trim was also perfect. Outside of the cut and beard trim, Jayson’s a hell of a good guy. Absolutely going back to him.

On the rare occasion i cant get an appointment with EZ i have also been cut by Jay, Daniel and Flacco, all of which have been great cuts. He took the time to see what I was trying to do and provided his expert opinion. I was able to be in and out within my appointment window, haircut came out perfect and aligned with what I was trying to achieve. Was given styling advice and picked up some new product as well. Negative experience: It was my second time visiting the barbershop, and the first time was pretty mediocre, so I wanted to give it another opportunity with a different barber. Vibes were great so I was hoping to find one that would work. Unfortunately that was not the case. Great atmosphere but the second cut was just as disappointing as the 1st. Atmosphere and vibes are great but the priority should be the end result of the haircut. Maybe less focus on offering whiskey and more focus on listening to the client and developing the skill sets to deliver a $60 haircut. You shouldn’t use bad haircuts as a tool to sell your hats! Won’t return and wouldn’t recommend if you’re priority is getting a great haircut!

Fantastic experience: Joesph is great. I’m very particular about my haircuts, having tried 5+ different barbers in the Houston area. Houston barbers usually only know how to fade, but Joesph is comfortable and adept at scissor work, too. Joesph also knows about hair patterns, how to execute a blurry fade, and is up to date on the latest hair trends (eg french crop, textured fringe). Would recommend him to anyone!

Negative experience: If you want flakey service from a trash barber schedule with Drew M. Had an appointment with Drew for 8:45am. At 8:46, I get a message that I’ve been marked a no show. At 8:51 I walk in, notice the message and talk to one of the guys. After trying to contact Drew he said tried to say he waited 15 minutes before cancelling the apt.. as if SMS notifications arent time stamped.. Do yourself a favor and avoid the headache. Would give 0 stars if I could

Negative experience: Update: my recent experience with another barber named Flaco was not satisfactory and far away from what I experienced with Jason. I’m expecting the management here doesn’t let anyone to cut hair here but unfortunately I trust them too much. The guy all the time talking and doesn’t have focus on his job, he had some communication problems in English and my hair cut rushed. I show him a picture but he delivered something else. Unfortunately It remind me what I experienced in those franchised hair salons. Old Review: After trying those franchised unprofessional hair salons, I’m very happy to find a private professional barber shop in Houston. I’m coming to conclusion every franchised service lose quality over time. My barber Jason was very friendly and listening carefully and could perfectly perform a nice professional hair cut for me. I really liked my experience.

Fantastic experience: A couple of weeks ago, my son had a terrible accident and who is currently recovering. As a result of being in the hospital for almost two months now, my son’s hair had grown out of control and I have been unable to get him into a barbershop for a proper haircut. I called various barbershops and explained my story several times and for the life of me, I could not get a barber to come out and cut my son’s hair. Then finally, I tried one more time and decided to call Ortahaus barbershop and spoke to a gentleman by the name of Ethan. Ethan understood where I was coming from and was very sincere to our situation. He quickly sent out a message to all of his fellow barbers, and within a few hours I had a gentleman by the name of Austin reach out to my wife and I. We explained the whole situation and he agreed to come out to cut our son’s hair at the hospital. My wife and I, and the whole family, from the bottom of our hearts, are so thankful for Austin and Ethan and the rest of the team for making this happen. My son looks great abd Austin was a true professional of his craft. Y’all don’t realize, after everything we’ve been through, this haircut was not only transformative for us, but it allowed for our son to meet his newborn baby boy for the first time looking sharp with a beautiful fade. I can’t thank Austin and the rest of the Ortahaus team enough. This barbershop is great and I will definitely be a forever customer. For every barber out there, a barber is not just a person who cuts hair, a barber is an artist who specializes in the literal uplifting of someone’s confidence in real time while sitting on a barber chair. Fantastic experience: I took my son here after a bad experience at another shop. He had long hair throughout Covid, and when he finally cut it off, he ended up with scalp fungus, which was really tough to get rid of. I shared my concerns with Ostin when we first met and asked him to thoroughly clean his equipment before cutting my son’s hair. But after walking in and seeing how clean and organized everything was, I immediately felt much more at ease. My son has now had two haircuts here, and for the second one, he even brought his dad along so he could experience a real barber (his words, lol). We live outside Beltway 8, so it’s quite a drive, but it’s definitely worth it. We highly recommend the shop and Ostin to anyone looking for a clean, friendly barbershop.

Fantastic experience: Booked an appointment online and Jason was my barber/stylist. I had to convince him to cut my hair at the beginning but he eventually gave in lol. (My hair was long and I’m a girl ). He has a lot of experience/knowledge and made good conversation. The shop is clean and the barbers are all very nice and welcoming. The location is great and there’s plenty of parking.

Negative experience: Giving it a 2 star only because the front staff was kind. I had such high hopes for this place but I’m very disappointed. My hair cut looks terrible. It felt rushed - zero attention to detail. I wasn’t facing the mirror so i had chance to fix or ask for change. There’s no blending, some spots are too long and there’s no way to style it. I left with a portion of my hair sticking straight up. It’s not worth hype or money. I’ve received better haircuts at a cosmetology school.

Fantastic experience: Awesome place to get a hair cut. Atmosphere is fantastic and the barbers all know the perfect cut for you. I had my hair fairly long and decided to cut it off and they knew exactly what would look great on me! A big plus is also you can just call and set an appointment so no waiting as some other barber shops. Safe to say I will be coming back regularly here! Also they have great looking merchandise! Personally I love the hats!

I was FaceTimed about pending items on my Honey-Do list immediately after and my fiancé was a fan. I highly recommend the gentleman's package. Overpriced Rude Barber did what ever he wanted going down to the sola salons down the street is honestly the best place nothing bad to say about them. Had a 6:15 PM appointment with Rolando, I arrived early and he got me in early. After that, he did me right. He was attentive to my needs. I’m relatively new to getting nice haircuts so when I asked for help he gracefully offered professional advice and suggestions. He was awesome and took care of me. I had an overall great experience. On top of that, they have great merchandise which are ORTAHAUS originals like t-shirts and hats with the brand (who doesn’t like swag?) along with many hair products to keep your hair as good looking as the first day you cut it. Fantastic experience: My first 2 visits with Flaco went well, but the 3rd visit was a miss. I gave my honest feedback and Flaco contacted me within an hour, apologized, and offered a refund and asked if there was anything he could do to fix the issue. I asked if he could fix my cut and he fixed it on the SAME DAY to my satisfaction. We’re all humans and have our days, but Flaco went out of his way to fix the issue and make sure that I was happy with my cut. Ortahaus really caters to their clients. Highly recommended!
