Rotating door of barbers leaving, empty barber chairs should be a hint there is much better out there. Parking is limited, gross old lounge furniture. I asked Sam, who is one of the barbers, for a haircut that is one that takes and investment in time beyond most haircuts in order to truly get right, and same took his time and delivered a true great haircut. Sam clearly takes pride in his work. Like some other less proud barbers have done, he could have spent 5 or 10 minutes less not worth it about giving it his all and perfecting what he can, but instead Sam went the distance and that resulted in a haircut he should be truly proud of as he did a fantastic job. And I say all of this in comparison to the job others have done for the same haircut so I know how to objectively grade Sam and know what someone going the distance looks like. While I have not had a haircut from anyone else at Canvas, I can confidently recommend Sam to anyone whose looks for a good job. Nice works Sam!

Fantastic experience: Canvas took me in on short notice on a Sunday afternoon. They had other clients as well, but they were able to fit me in. Their shop was clean, smelled great, and looked nice and organized. I needed a barber that could do a fade and was having trouble finding one in the area on short notice. Arlow gave me a clean fade, and also did a trim/fade for my beard that was getting out of control. Guy irradiates positive energy and he was a pleasure to talk to. While I'm working in the area I'll continue to go back for sure.

Fantastic experience: I was in town working from the US and needed a quick haircut and beard trim. I looked in google and typed in “barbers near me” and it came up with quite a few options but I decided on “The Canvass barber shop”, for the only reason it was near to where I was working. I checked the availability and it was fully booked up except what they termed “JR barber”, what turned out to be a lady by the name of Vanessa. Vanessa had an opening at 2pm which suited me perfectly. I arrived early and only had to wait 5 or so minutes when Vanessa called me over. Vanessa was extremely pleasant and as it turns out, a hairdresser with over 13 years of experience and not a junior at all! It was only because she had changed locations she has to be termed as such. Ridiculous because as it turned out she did a wonderful job with the little hair that I have left on my head and she took her time to ask was this how I wanted it. The main thing for me was my beard as when using a 1mm on someone’s head there’s not much to go wrong, right? ☺️ Again, Vanessa asked me how I would like it, how much I wanted trimmed and took her time to do everything to perfection and even trimmed my eyebrows to boot!! Just at the end she told me off for not drinking enough water and use more moisturizer. Just what most of us guys need to hear right? But she’s an expert in her field and a woman notices these small things that us guys don’t even pay attention to. Vanessa, thank you for such a wonderful experience. I look 20 years younger and even got whistled at by some female on my way back to work!! Seriously though guys, Vanessa is no junior and took her time, and did a great haircut and beard trim. As well as the good conversation, it was an hour out of my day that was very well spent and worth the money. As I’m from the US just visiting with work, I will be back every 3 months and will certainly come back and book Vanessa again. Thank you so much Vanessa and I wish you every success and happiness.

Negative experience: Came here for a hair cut on a wed . Barber was arlow he double booked me so I waited 45 minutes for my appointment. The next day I had an appointment with alrlow for my son this is now Thursday. I call them to say I'm going to be late 15 minutes. They say it's ok it isn't a fade its a kids cut I get there 8 minutes earlier then expected and was turned away for being late. Theu weren't kind about it. Never been back son was crying in the car. Beware not very professional more of a hangout for barbers gf or buddies

Negative experience: I Don’t suggest for mixed or black people Not a good barber shop for coloured people Asked for a high taper fade and a bit off the top. barber told me I need to go see an “detangler person” the barber didn’t even attempt to use the appropriate hair pick. He used a white person brush (that’s not going to comb a mixed person hair) then proceed to cut my face while just giving a line up not worth 50$ lol at that point go to 5 points or Toronto. @ the canvas im out of the country now lol im 100000% positive I went to your shop June 2nd lol & I don’t recommend for mix and black people I had rome as my barber chill guy but he cut my forehead and refused to touch the top of my head said “oh I just popped a pimple for you” ☠️ya that ain’t a little mark and Form my experience i wouldn’t recommend any of my coloured friends to come here I was ready to tip nice but after that service not a chance ☠️ . Also ur barber was trying to use a comb (not even meant for my type of hair) not a pick big difference no wonder why he didn’t couldn’t. Nice workers but definitely wouldn’t recommend to any of my mixed or ethic friends

Positive experience: Best barbershop in barrie, definitely worth the drive and our new go to barber! Enoch is great! It was pretty awkward this time going in, the barber wasn't there to cut my sons hair and the manager didn't want to do his hair, but he was completely free watching videos on his phone the entire time, so another barber ended up taking my son. It was an incredibly awkward experience. I appreciate the barber for making my sons birthday decent by actual doing his hair since we drove over an hour. He did good and did what my son asked for. But honestly just based of the experience we won't be coming back here anymore.... Enoch is also not at this location anymore, which was our reason for going as he was the only barber there to actually interact with clients and make this not silent and awkward like today was...

Fantastic experience: I started bringing my son here for hair cuts, instead of a hair salon. Since the first time Justin had cut his hair, he loved it! We've been 3 times now and will continue going for regular cuts. It's easy to book appointments online and there's a bank machine incase you didn't bring cash.

Fantastic experience: Come into town about once a month and been seeing Justin so get my hair cut, faded and lined up. Same with my beard. Can’t say enough about him and his professionalism. He’s a humble dude and skilled at what he does, so, if your looking for a barber this is the shop and he’s your guy.

Negative experience: My husband stopped In here to get his hair done. There were 2 other guys also getting their hair done by other barbers which did look great. The barber that did my husbands hair seemed very inexperienced. He left with his hair so uneven . The guy said he was “finished” and my husband asked him to even it out and even then after “fixing” it it looked horrible . I wouldn’t recommend going here unless you know you’re getting an experienced barber. $50 plus tip down the drain because he had to go somewhere else to get it fixed the same day ‍♀️

Positive experience: Been getting my cut done in Toronto for the last 5 years and I’m glad to say I don’t need to do the drive no more. Found myself my new favourite barber shop even tho it’s a bit more pricey than some others but at least I ain’t spending so much gas money lol. Went in for the first time to get myself a fade and beard line up. Got a perfect fade imo and a really good beard line up. Only thing I wasn’t totally satisfied was that the barber trimmed off like 3/4 of my beard.. some miss communication on that but all good.

Negative experience: Yikes. Should've waited and gone elsewhere. That's what I get for a last minute decision. My husband is the nice guy and didn't want to voice his opinion too much but even the barber knew it was bad. Took a before because my son had grown his beautiful hair for a year and a half. Didn't take an after photo because it was that bad. Uneven, way too short and no line cut in like requested. Paid for something I could have done myself. Heartbreaking.

Fantastic experience: This is a real and I mean REAL barber salon, I highly and strongly recommend this place! The Barbers especially Rome who I am a regular with is everything you’d want in a barber, super chill, fresh and clean fades, and he really takes his time to make sure everything is just right! And he does amazing hair designs plus flawless line ups! Another amazing barber to try there as well is Arlow he’s chill and has amazing freshh cuts, fades, designs, line ups and so much more!

As soon as I walk in, all employees greeted me with a smile and asked me how I was, so I immediately felt comfortable in the environment. While getting the cut, I noticed the craftsmanship Justin was able to perform with his scissor skills. Probably the best person that i have ever witnessed use scissors while cutting my hair. He faded my beard to skin blending into my shaved head and the Missus says it's the best beard trim yet. Price was good, which now a days can be hard to come by.
