Fantastic experience: Good bunch of people, plenty of laughs, and NONE of that ‘new’ vibe where the barbers make you feel like they are some rockstar and you should feel privileged to have your hair cut by them. It’s as close as you’ll get to the good old days where the barbers are ALL quality and they are happy to see you and offer you an ale. Been to all the shops in Geelong. This one is far and away the most REAL!

Negative experience: Disappointed. Hair booking for 1pm. At 10am the morning of the appointment we got an email to say the hair appointment was brought forward to 12. No phone call, no text. Saw the email at 11.30 and rushed in. Arrived at 12.05. I apologised for being late despite my appointment being brought forward and was told I was too late. R.B needs to pick up the customer service game! Will not return.

Positive experience: Relaxed atmosphere and very happy with my hair cut. Haircuts are expensive for half an hours work however.

Fantastic experience: I gave the boys a surprise when I asked them to cut off my shoulder length blonde lady-hair, but Josiah did it with all the skill, care, and efficiency I expected of an expert barber. I now have an awesome super-short cut and feel much more relaxed. As a woman using expensive salons all of my life, sitting in a chair for 2-3 hours for a cut that costs triple the price of a barber just doesn’t work for me now I’ve got a toddler. The Resident Barber has a great vibe, no constant blowdryers or smell of bleach, some chill friendly banter. A nice change.

There's a great vibe and they never make me feel like a pest for bringing a little kid into their awesome space haha. They make jokes with him and he feels comfortable there, which is quite rare. Very happy to have The Resident Barber here in Belmont. Prices are good too.

Negative experience: They never answer the phone, return phone messages or reply to Facebook messages. I needed to speak to someone about booking in a few men for multiple services (and had a question about a service) for my wedding but no one could return my calls or messages.

Fantastic experience: We brought both our young boys in for a haircut (our youngest his first) the hairdressers where fantastic with both boys and we were really happy with the cuts. The salon was also really clean and despite being extremely busy both our boys appointments were on time. Have already rebooked.

Fantastic experience: No ‘rockstar’ barber attitude, just down to earth genuine people who provide a quality service because they are good at what they do. Still feels like a barber should. Music is loud enough to sit back and enjoy, but not so loud it’s fuggen impossible to have a conversation if that’s ya vibe. No walk-in chairs is a slight bummer for us less organised folk - but that’s how all the barber shops in the bay city operate, and this is the best one by a country mile.

Negative experience: Today was my son's third visit with Matt and his haircut was the worst one he's ever had!! His previous haircuts were good but today he cut his fringe straight across the top of his eyebrows and did a very poor job overall of the rest of his hair. My son has thick wavy hair that was always cut with great attention to detail from our previous stylists in Melbourne for only $30, at $40 a cut I expect a much better job. We will not be using this service again.
