Fantastic experience: Robbie got it done! Have not had my hair cut in some years as my last one was at hair cuttery around 2022. Just shaved it since. Negative experience: I came in for a medium skin fade and a little off the top. My hair was about 6 or 7 inches on top for reference. I ask the woman cutting my hair to take about half off the top. She ended up giving me the highest fade that I have ever had and cut the top of my hair to about an inch length… I won’t be back ever again.

Negative experience: Save your time and money. Tiny place, cash only and there’s a dog in the place. Don’t know the last time it was cleaned or taken care of. If you do go, you’ll trip over a dog bed that’s blocking the door on the inside.

Negative experience: READ THE BAD REVIEWS TOO!! I really hate leaving reviews, because I feel responsible for making a bad decision and not reading ALLLL reviews before doing things like this… But I think it’s necessary to say, this was not a pleasant experience and nowhere near worth what was paid for it. I called around and this place was the only that would take last minute for 3 guys (ended up being 4)(all with very little work to do in my opinion) (opinion based on what I have heard from the 10 years of dating 2 hairdressers) (also based on that I generally do my own hair and beard grooming) Their accepting my request is just smart business, as the place was DEAD. We went for a military cut, no beard- a beard trim, straight razor edge up- a second beard trim straight razor edge up- and some weird gen z cut (my nephew, pretty much no facial hair in sight, but yeah a little bit) As we each sat in the chair, we requested what we would like to have done. Upon these requests we were told what they would “normally” do or how they would be not doing what we asked. Being last minute, all of us just simply obliged, and allowed them to do what they “normally” do. When I asked for a clean short beard with a straight razor edge up, I was told that “she likes to keep the cheeks natural” and that “she would just foil my neck.” I somehow still ended up paying for a service that I didn’t receive. My military nephew told her straight up that he wanted a seven, allowed her to do what she wanted, and again said that he would like to have a seven but “she doesn’t have a seven” and reluctantly asked another stylist to use hers, ran over it quickly and just as quickly took the cape off for him to politely exit her chair. At least three of the four of us ended up going back on our own and doing what we would like to have had done, I don’t own a straight razor, but mine will suffice. All in all we were just looking for an enjoyable barber experience before the big day (idk if I mentioned we were doing this to please my sister before the wedding.) While we were polite, and even tipped well, an enjoyable experience was far from what we got, I’ve had several, for much less mind you. So please read the bad reviews, save yourself some money. Stylists, don’t take this personally, just understand that you’re there to do what is asked, not what you “normally” do, and I’m just trying to use reviews for their purpose, sharing my experience so another may learn and form a decision based upon that experience.

Fantastic experience: I’ve had multiple cuts from DJ and they have all been of the highest quality. He is clean and precise with the clippers and most of all the vibes are always good. I recommend this shop for your haircut needs they take good care of their clients with a friendly attitude. Overall 10/10 experience.

Fantastic experience: Courtney did a wonderful job transforming my mop of hair that had grown super long into a clean looking mullet. In and out in 30 mins. Super pleased with the results. Comfortable chairs and entertaining conversations.

Negative experience: Worst haircut I have ever received. Rude as all get out to me as soon as I walked in the door, and would question everything I asked or said. Have never been so disrespected, DJ was an incredibly rude and terrible barber. Whoever tonight him how to line up a mustache should be lined up and shot.

Fantastic experience: My friend told me that he had one of the best experiences at Vintage Barbershop this past Sunday. He mentioned that DJ took his time, was so efficient with the haircut and even offered him a complimentary beer. He is currently on a temporary assignment but definitely recommends DJ and this shop to the local residents within the area!!

Fantastic experience: DJ is amazing! I have difficult hair with lots of cowlicks, but DJ took the time to understand what I wanted and gave me one of the best haircuts I’ve ever had. Highly recommend DJ if you're looking for precision and style. The vibe of the place is great too. Every time i walk in i notice that because of their repeat business they really know their clients I often hear running jokes. Truly feels like a friendly neighborhood barbershop. If you're tired of the same sports clips or great clips 'ehh i just need it cut' kind of service this is the place. A little bit price-er than those places but its worth every penny

Negative experience: I traveled from Atlanta called themthe giy was rude and unprofessional this was just before they closed and they wasn't willing to give me service since it was the day before a holiday.. that's not how you should do business...

Negative experience: I stopped by for a haircut. There were no customers in the place and the gentleman working there said they were all booked for the day. Why advertise walk-ins if you don't take them... Especially if you have no customers in the shop currently..

Negative experience: Today was my first time in here and I showed the guy the picture and everything and its not even close to what I asked and I asked him for the hair to go past my eye and it isn’t even to the bottom of my forehead let alone one side is 2 inches longer and then they put some stuff in my hair I definitely didn’t ask for so honestly probably the worst haircut I’ve ever gotten.

Fantastic experience: Christina is the best!! I got a terrible haircut and beard trim at sports clips. I didn’t even realize that the back of the haircut was messed up, but Christina did stayed late to fix the haircut and the beard and only charged me for the beard. Happy to say I found a new barber. Can’t say enough good things about this shop!

My wife asked me to get a cut for the holidays and pictures. All I can say is Beverly at the vintage barber did an amazing job. I trusted her expertise to switch some things up beyond the usual two all the way around and I'm happy I did. The things she recommended turned out amazing and it's pretty clear she is passionate about what she does, along with the talent to back it up. Fantastic experience: UPDATE! The owners contacted me immediately, and were extremely professional as well as understanding of the situation below. They took notice of my haircut, and went above and beyond to resolve the issue. Big shout out to Kristina and look forward to future haircuts with her! I have come to Vintage Barbers on occasion while my regular barber has been away. My barber unfortunately has retired, and was seeking a new barber to come too. Vintage Barbers was a no brainer given my past few experiences. Vibe is cool, generally the staff is nice and talkative. About 2 weeks ago I scheduled an appointment with Pat (only available), very easy to do online. I simply wanted a medium to low fade (military style for reference) while explaining some additional details to ensure Pat knew exactly what I wanted. The haircut was mediocre at best, but felt it only got to that level through my own critiques of instruction to Pat. Just got to the point that not much more could be done, and accepted that since this was the first time Pat was cutting my hair and possibly miscommunication on my part. Fast forward to yesterday. I called the barber location with Pat answering the phone, asked if there was time for a walk-in, she said no, but she could make me an appointment. I asked who was available, and Pat said she was the only Barber available, and only time slot was 1230pm. I accepted given my situation and availability. When I should up to the Barbershop, there were two other barbers there, with no customers. Through small talk, and listening to the other two barbers (Courtney and didn`t catch other barber`s name), they were wide open. I did specifically ask the two barbers about their day, and both said it was a bit slow, and neither had any appointments till mid-afternoon (at that moment in time). Based upon this information, I felt lied too by Pat, when I specifically asked about availabilities of other barbers that day. My haircut with Pat was worst than the first time, having to point out obvious issues with lines, lack-of-fading, and pretty much ignoring all of the communication that I was trying to provide to avoid another bad haircut. These were not little oversights, and when I brought them to light, Pat made excuses or acknowledged that they needed to fixed. Why am I having to inform a professional barber with obvious issues? The analogy for those reading this, is I felt I received a barracks cut. During my haircut, although I did not say anything, I felt Pat was extremely bossy to the other two barbers, and hyper critical over lunch breaks/etc.. only to have both ladies to appear to have to accept the constant verbal aggressiveness and/or justify their time. There were no other customers within the barbershop, and neither had any upcoming appointments to prepare for/etc.. This made me uncomfortable overall, and just added to the downward experience that I have had in two combined visits. I did tell Pat that I was not happy with the haircut, and given my overall experience, I wanted to know how to contact the owner. I was referred to the website. I paid in full with no tip. This review is not for any of the other barbers in either location. I am positive that their are a lot of people of all ages that receive a great haircut, but I cannot in good conscience recommend Pat to anyone given my experience. Hair grows back, but it`ll be about another 1.5/2 weeks before this haircut can be undone (guessing), and in my line of professional work, having a bad haircut does not present a picture that I want to project while conversing with clients. To the owner, I apologize for leaving a low review as I do not feel it reflects you as the owner or any of the other current barbers. I would like the opportunity to speak with you, and better clarify my experience, and provide feedback to help correct the situation.

Fantastic experience: When we moved to the area, I searched for the highest number of reviews for barbershop. After reading several positive comments, I decided to try them out. Glad I did! They do great work!

Negative experience: It's a nice small shop with friendly staff. The merchandise is also nice. Now let me get to the point. I went in there as a first time customer, enthusiastic. I even brought the pomade I personally use so that the hairdresser could use it on my hair, many do actually use some kind of product to style the hair. I mention that because she had ME style my own hair. I showed her the haircut I wanted, two different pictures each with a different angle. Neither one of us was aware that her skills and abilities were not going to be enough to accomplish said haircut. I believe she misread the pictures and thus went down the incorrect path of how she cut my hair. I had plenty of hair to work with to make the haircut possible having grown it out for over a year. The haircut I showed indicated (at least to me) longer lengths of hair slicked back. She interpreted it as a "short" haircut. You win some, you lose some. Today I lost. It's just hair and it will grow back but I do not wish to return for any further haircuts. I am however willing to meet with the manager if they would like to discuss what happened solely for the purpose of ensuring this exact situation doesn't happen again.

Fantastic experience: My two kids, ages 9 and 11, got haircuts with Sandra today. She was great! Super nice to my kids. My younger kid is quite an animated person but she was still super nice to him. Both kids told her what they wanted and she definitely delivered. My older son has lots of cowlicks, but he still gave a great cut. Sandra sold me some pomade that she used on my son's hair, and gave me advice for styling his hair effectively. Today was our first time at this barber. Their shop is pretty small, but both ladies who were working there (Sandra and I believe Pat) are super nice people and give great cuts. I watched Pat give a gentleman a cut and it looked fantastic! I highly recommend Vintage Barber.

Fantastic experience: Courtney trimmed and shaped up my beard in a way I certainly never could. Short story- retired from military a couple of years ago, each winter I grow my beard out. I'd try and trim it myself based on YouTube tutorials, etc. Never really got the results I wanted. Come springtime, I'd shave it off. Problem solved; Courtney, at the Greenbrier location, absolutely produced the results I wanted. Now I have my go-to beard trimming barber. I may even keep the beard after wintertime. PS: I did the online booking and it worked out fine.

Fantastic experience: This was my first visit here. I usually go to Vintage Barber co. in Portsmouth Churchland area and I've always had great cuts there but they were booked up today. So I took a chance on this location. Sandra cut my hair and couldn't have done a better job. She was very professional and talked me through everything she was doing and made sure I was completely happy when I left. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming they even offered me a beer! To top it off a stranger at the 7-11 I stopped at afterwards complimented my cut I will most definitely be back

Fantastic experience: Husband gets his haircut & beard services here. Alannah is his barber, great cut each time. Shop is clean and has a old time feel which is great! Some seating available but can be limited personally don't mind. Parking is available in front usually. Overall what more can you ask for? Knowledgeable barbers, product options for style, quick and friendly.

Negative experience: Took my son in for a haircut, he was scared so I sat with him. Worst haircut ever. Courtney started cutting and didn't even ask what we wanted! Left uneven and covered in hair. She wouldn't cut shorter because she said his hair would stick up? I understand people have bad days but to not even be greeted and ignored. Wouldn't talk to us, my son was scared of her! Pat was kind.

Positive experience: Great cut, good interactions. However, offering a cash-only service in this day and age is frankly ridiculous. Not convenient or suited to the fast-paced environment of the time.

Fantastic experience: Love them, for my fellow military this is the place to go. They do phenomenal fades and have a nice ascetic to the whole show. Haircuts are about 24 bucks but well worth compared to an NEX one. They have you coming out looking like a dapper man.

Negative experience: Wouldn't recommend, came in as a walk in which they said was fine ,two barbers sitting in the chairs and told them what haircut I wanted,then they told me I can wait for another barber ,then another guy as a walk in asks for the same haircut and one of them jumped up to do his,which was quite rude say the least. Fantastic experience: My first visit and it was a great experience in every respect. I booked with Alannah and she was very prompt and friendly. I have very thick and wavy hair that has gotten more difficult to cut since it turned gray. And I also have cowlicks on top of cowlicks between growth lines that defy any reason in the natural world. Alannah was patient and took time to offer what she felt was a good cut. And it’s simply the best, most precise and flattering haircut I have had in recent memory. On a handsome guy you could call it exactly that haha. She also trimmed my beard and cleaned it all up with a straight razor so the result was impeccable. And she also offers great conversation while doing it all. I realize that New York phone books are shorter than this review. But I simply can’t say “it was good” and do her and Vintage Barbers justice without taxing your reading skills. I will most certainly be back!

Negative experience: I had an appointment here and when i showed up the lady was talking to her coworker instead of cutting my hair. A customer walked in without an appointment and asked if they were doing walk ins. She said yes and started cutting his hair without even acknowledging my presence. Very unprofessional.

Fantastic experience: Very nice experience. Definitely vintage feel inside the shop. Outside you wouldn't expect it. Heads up it's CASH ONLY. The barbers are easy to talk to and definitely don't waste your time or theirs. It's nice to have a shop that cares about how you look and feel and they take pride in their skill. Not many places offer a straight razor shave anymore but they do.

Even critiqued my at home barber skills, which was less than par, lol. She was very detailed and have finally found my VA barber after searching for a few years for that perfect spot.
