Negative experience: walk in and both girls are just on their phones. No customers in sight. One looks me up and down and apparently they're "swamped" and "couldn't fit me in". Like I know im disheveled but this would have been my 1st haircut since my home burned down. They looked at me like a bum. Never coming back here again. Terrible people

Fantastic experience: I came here for several haircuts while in Virginia Beach for work over about six months. Andi was wonderful every time! Whenever I asked for guidance on what I should do with my hair, she gave great suggestions and helped me to know what would or wouldn’t work! Before I left town, I got one more haircut from her, and she knocked it out of the park. Great staff, great place!

Positive experience: They do great work, but fair warning they are cash only so you have to pay their atm fee after the service to settle up. There is no mention that I can find that they don’t take cards.

Fantastic experience: Gabby is hands-down one of the best barbers/stylists around. She takes her time, pays attention to every detail, and you can tell she actually cares about the outcome. My cut came out perfect, clean, even, and exactly what I asked for. On top of that, she’s friendly, professional, and creates a relaxing environment. She makes sure you’re happy before you leave the chair.

Fantastic experience: Started going to Lucky Devil after my stylist Gabby changed shops. Gabby is thr best and makes you feel right at home. I used hate going to get my hair cut as it seemed more of a chore rather than a fun experience. I used to go to sports clips and hated talking to people but not anymore. I always look forward to my next appointment with Gabby as she is fun to talk to and always does an amazing job. She takes her time, is very detail oriented, and cares about her clients. I also drive 45mins both ways just to get my haircut by her.

Fantastic experience: Fairly new to Lucky Devil, but have quickly become a fan! The vibe is great and everyone is extremely friendly in there. First heard of Lucky Devil after following Gabby here as she's been cutting my hair for just under 2 years now. It's a bit further then the last place but a great stylist you click with is worth the trip every time! A nice trim, shave and wash from here will have you feeling right!! Never had a bad cut or negative experience with this place or Gabby! Recommend ten times over!

Fantastic experience: Been a regular of Gabby's since early 2023 after a long search for a new barber, her fades are ALWAYS on point, and for my hair type most barbers couldn't quite give me the quality fade that I've been looking for, til I found Gabby. And to top it off, the way she welcomes you into her chair you know you're in for a great experience, and always leave looking fresh, feeling like a new person. Gabby gives top notch haircuts and always makes you feel welcomed and at home when you get your hair cut by her, highly recommend her for your next haircut!

Fantastic experience: Both of my boys (11 and 3) have gone to Gabby for the past two years. We followed her from another shop because she is so great and they wanted no one else to cut their hair. She is so unbelievably patient and so kind to them (and us), and she treats all of her clients like family. Scheduling and maintaining time with appointments in this industry is incredibly difficult due to outside factors, but Gabby goes above and beyond and does it all with grace, the best intentions and a smile on her face. She takes her time to give the best cut to whoever is in her chair. I will always recommend Gabby to everyone!

Fantastic experience: My newest barber Katie is dope. She handled my long ass curly hair since I haven’t gotten a haircut in a year. This place has been awesome since they were located in VA Beach. Totally recommend them to anybody looking for a trim.

Fantastic experience: Morgan was great! I didn’t really know what I wanted to do with my mountain man beard or how to make it less wild. Morgan asked good questions and then ran with the answers. I’ve gotten many compliments on my beard since the trim. I left completely satisfied and highly recommend this place/Morgan.

Negative experience: Called and left a message to let them know I was sick and couldn’t make my appointment the morning of my appointment because it won’t let you cancel through the app, but they still decided to charge me $40. Go to Colleywood or Bay Barbers for a real haircut.

Negative experience: Makes no sense to me. I came for a walk in because that’s what’s listed online was told they don’t do walk ins and I couldn’t book an appointment for today. There’s 2 people there and no customers in the store why can’t I just get a haircut? If you don’t accept walk ins then it should be changed online.

Fantastic experience: So I haven’t been to a Barber shop in 20 years. I found it hard to find a place that did straight razor cuts on bald heads. Also now that I can grow a beard again after all these years I wanted to find a laid back setting and one that did a straight razor. Well a friend told me about this place and it was amazing. My stylist was Morgan and when she asked what I was looking for I know I didn’t help her very much on details but she knew exactly what to do. She took my lack of thought and made an incredible result. I highly recommended this place to anyone and I especially highly recommend Morgan.

Fantastic experience: Took my son here for a kids cut (he's 5), we got him a mid-fade type cut which included a shampoo. He's proud of the way his hair turned out. He looks like a stylish, handsome little devil. Brittney G was his barber, she was friendly and very attentive to detail. There are a lot of interesting vintage pictures on the walls and metal/rock type music playing in the background. Plenty of seating. My son said the music was "fire" lol. They offered him a lollipop and football card at the end. The kids cut was $30 plus tip. Cash only, but they have an ATM if you need it. He'll be getting his haircut here again for sure since he liked it so much.

Fantastic experience: Katie did a phenomenal job today on my medium fade. Excellent service, very professional and would highly recommend. When I'm in town again and in need of a haircut, Lucky Devil will be my first choice.

Fantastic experience: I have been to barber shops all over the country. Detroit to DC, Dallas to San Diego, Knoxville to Billings. I have never gotten a better cut than the one I got at Lucky Devil. No better spot for a man who gives half a damn how he looks to walk into. Kat did the most incredible job and I wouldn’t get my haircut at any other shop so long as I’m within a 2 hour drive of this place. I’m not exaggerating, she’s really that good.

Fantastic experience: If you’re looking for a barber shop that has an old school feel, with a staff that has the focus on attention to details from start to finish. I have been here 3 times and have had 3 different stylist (Hailey, Morgan and Carrie) each time I felt welcomed, comfortable, each stylist never seemed rushed and had focus on what they were doing. They all asked plenty of questions to uncover what they were going to do as far as style and all of them explained what they were doing along the way. Being new to the area I was unsure of what to expect my first time but Hailey made me feel at ease and had me confident on my choice of place to get my haircut. She was great at calming my nerves as this was my first venture to Lucky Devils and my first time a new place with a new stylist I’ve never met before. I showed her a few pictures of what I usually get from my old barber shop and it was easy for her to figure out what she needed to do. She was able to nail the style I was after and I couldn’t have been happier with all she did for me! Truly the person I needed for my first visit! I usually make appointments but the second visit I put myself on the wait list for first available and I within a day I was in the chair with Morgan. She made me feel comfortable and again she was asking plenty of questions to know what I wanted in a cut. She is very personal which I can appreciate and this helped me realize that Lucky Devils is probably my go to place. Morgan was able to nail the hairstyle I was after. Today was my first time having Carrie do my hair and I couldn't have been more pleased! If you're looking for someone to pays attention to the small details she's the one for you! From start to finish she was constantly checking to ensure everything was even on both sides, she cut in my hard part with a straight razor (I believe) where as others tend to use a set of clippers and buzz a line in quickly. She always asked questions before she did anything to ask for input and let me know what she was going to do along the way. She asked about any allergies, which was a first and to be honest something I would have never thought about when getting a hair cut but this just shows her attention to detail. When shaving my neck she asked about any sensitivity to clippers or straight razors which I was happy to let her know what works best for me. Carrie brings the attention to details that I can appreciate and truly made my experience different than any hair cut l've ever received.

Fantastic experience: Brittany did a fantastic low fade with a trim and texture up top. As someone who struggles to find barbers that can give a great fade and a great cut on the top, I'll definitely be back.

Fantastic experience: I've been a patron of Lucky Devil for about five years (minus the pandemic, of course). I've resorted to other shops less than five times in that timeframe and have had serious regrets every single time. No matter which staff member cuts your hair or trims your beard, you'll leave satisfied at minimum! The atmosphere is very laid back, all staff are very talented, customer service is top notch, and their prices are fair. It can be difficult to get an appointment within a week, but you can usually get in with someone. I love this place and they have 100% of my future business as long as I'm in the area!

Negative experience: Not a bad shop but defitnetly not the shop it used to be. Was my go to shop for the past 4 years but have had a past few experiences that were handled unprofessionally. Still waiting on a call back to talk to someone regarding these issues...maybe one day they'll call me back. Do recommend Carrie and Kaitlin if you really need a haircut here. They are awesome. Unfortunately, I took my business elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: I love Lucky Devil! I’ve rotated around the barbershops to find the right one for me and this one is it! There have been times where it’s been difficult to book my preferred barber due to scheduling conflicts but really you won’t be disappointed with anyone at the shop. Because of my hair I come in with a hairstyle in mind and ask for an honest opinion and they’ll always give it as far as if it would work on me. If it doesn’t, I listen to what they have to say and we get a haircut that’s right for me every time. If you don’t necessarily agree they still respect your wishes and give you want you want! Bottom line is they listen and they get you lookin’ right! Prices are fair and while I normally only go for a traditional cut or skin fade, they offer a bunch of other services. This is a one stop shop for all your grooming needs and to tame your mane!

Quick access from ODU, so it is easy to get a haircut between classes. Eliza is incredibly talented. I am one of her regulars, and her consistency is unmatched. Fantastic experience: My husband goes here for his beard trims and has had a wonderful experience every time; but I wanted to write a review solely to praise the lovely and wonderful Miss Ashley Fordham. My son has a number of sensory issues, so when we walked in today, his hair was 3 inches past his shoulders and uncombed. I gave her a brief explanation of his triggers and then sat back and waited to see how far we would get before I had to call it and leave. She was so kind and careful and attentive. She checked in with him so many times that he never had the chance to get in a weird headspace. She gave him a dozen opportunities to take breaks, de-itch, move around, and I cannot overstate what a huge difference it made.

Fantastic experience: Has been the "go-to" spot since before the move. The ladies are kind and definitely experts at their craft; anytime someone asks about a barber shop, this is where I send em.

Negative experience: Update: I could not continue to be a patron of Lucky Devil as they continuously would cancel or reschedule my appointments (scheduled three weeks to a month in advance) at the last minute. I had been going to Lucky Devil exclusively and was extremely happy with the service provided; however, my beard trim appointments continuously would get canceled or rescheduled for three months in a row. When my appointments were kept, service was great. I hope they have fixed the issue as I haven’t been there for about a year. Original Post (2018): The best barber shop I’ve had the pleasure of going to. I just got my second beard trim from Sandy and couldn’t be more satisfied with the result. The atmosphere of this barber shop is outstanding. They play great music, offer refreshments when you enter, and all of the employees make you feel very welcome. If you’re looking for a place to get a great haircut or beard trim, this is definitely the place to go.

Fantastic experience: Great spot to get a haircut. It feels like a tattoo shop environment with the cool art on the walls. I got a haircut from Carrie who is in training as an apprentice and she did a fantastic job! They offer a multitude of services for your barber needs. The owner brought her cat into the shop to hang out and it was really cool to see it hanging out with everybody. Definitely recommend getting your hair cut here, you'll more than likely have to book ahead due to popularity.

Positive experience: Very nice atmosphere, professional barber, good cut, but expensive. $40 for a razor skin fade and didn't really get to the skin, still had stuble. Fade was average, not the best I've gotten.

Negative experience: The place is very nice. However, I was very unhappy with my haircut. After tip, I spent $45 - and I felt the cut was very rushed; and the details I asked for were not addressed. Once she saw her next client had arrived I was out of the chair within 10 minutes. I asked for a faded mohawk, texturized. She shaved the side and cut the top (did not texturize), and hair sticking out the sides - looking like wolverine. I already need another cut because I am unable to style it the way I like. I could have gotten a better cut at Supercuts for half the price. Disappointed.

Negative experience: They're good at what they do and that's it. If you're a person of color just note that you'll get a weird vibe from them. It's probably because they're not used to interacting with people from other culture/race or they probably don't like you there. Now I'm not accusing them of anything. In all my visits I've never seen a person like myself. They don't make you feel warm and welcomed either. They probably will not engage in a conversation or get to know you. If you're white you'll probably have a good time and the conversation will be easy going and pleasant. If not you'll be looked down upon or you get that impression from them. I don't know if I can go there anymore.

Fantastic experience: I mean, I dunno about you guys, but I don't expect people to treat me like a king. I was punctual to my appointment, welcomed and treated with kindness. I gave Beck a fair challenge and I am happy with what she accomplished and the time it took her. She appeared committed and knowledgeable. There was not a lot of conversation, but this is fine with me. I had a relaxing experience. I am not that familiar with haircut prices, but I thought it was fair (in relation to what I've heard) Oh, and they didn't force a tip on me, it is the good old screen switch and that is that. You decide the tip. The place has a grunge atmosphere, which I particularly like. More importantly, they seem to take the health-related recommendations seriously, which is a big plus for me. I will def be back. I must admit that the whole "man haircut by females" sounded a bit off, but nah, safe environment for an odd looking fella like myself, and I think I even got a glimpse of a non-binary sticker inside, so no complaints in that matter either. I'll update for my second sesh. Oh yeah, parking was small and full, but there is parking on the streets around it so no biggie. Honestly my hair was poop and Beck fixed it so I am a happy costumer.

Fantastic experience: Lucky Devil is a great place to go for a wide variety of services. The staff is professional. The atmosphere is very unique in a cool and creative way. You can tell that the staff care about the work that they do and their customers. It a welcoming, relaxing, and fun place to go for your grooming needs. Sandy is the consummate professional with excellent skills in a wide variety of areas. She is a great listener and conversationalist. I always enjoy coming in for a haircut or a beard trim and never leave disappointed in either my cut or experience. I highly recommend Sandy and only wish I could give her more than 5 stars.

It seems like a lot of the time you are just another appointment. Not here…. She took her time and also seemed very passionate about the business and her profession. After finally feeling like going shorter again I found this place and holy... She read my mind and gave me exactly what I wanted but it turned out even better than I was imagining and I walked out feeling disappointed I'd have to wait till my hair grew to come again. When I first walked in I was offered a drink and a muffin then thats when the roller skates came out... it was wild and fun these girls will have you looking right and feeling better than when you walked in

Fantastic experience: Since I've been working from home, for the past year, I've grown a beard and I have hair on top of my head for the first time in twenty plus years. Well, I went over there for a trim and was pleasantly surprised that all the "barbers" were female. I knew at least one was, Kira, who I made an appointment with that day. She has been a family friend and stylist for my wife and daughter for many years. The female barbers here have a unique perspective unlike male barbers. With COVID19 restrictions they can't do mustaches and masks ARE required but they work around them fairly easily, literally. I enjoyed my visit and will be back, Kira was great, showing me ways to keep my beard in fighting shape. Very clean and organized shop, the "barbers" were always keeping their areas cleaned up and sanitized. I can't say enough about this establishment, I feel lucky for finding them!

Fantastic experience: We cannot say enough great things about Sandy and her team of boss babes at Lucky Devil. My 6 year old has been going to her for nearly 3 years and we have been nothing but pleased. We love the environment and always feel so welcome! Sandy is patient and makes our son feel right at home. When we went into lock down my sons hair was out of control. The moment we were in the clear to go back to getting hair cuts, Sandy was the first person my kiddo saw! He was beyond excited. Negative experience: It's an ok spot.. super expensive for a regular cut and if you're not a regular, you're not treated like everyone else. Had a rush job haircut and wasn't even talked too throughout. You can get that treatment at super cuts and pay half as much!

Fantastic experience: I REFUSE to get my hair cut anywhere else. Legit the best shop I’ve ever stepped foot in. Such an awesome atmosphere. Bea always does my cuts, and she kills it EVERY SINGLE TIME! Even if she isn’t available, I would trust any one else in the shop to get the job done and be more than pleased. They all have some serious skills. Always feel welcome and it’s super clean. I recommend them to anyone and everyone that asks where I get my cut done.

Fantastic experience: First time trying Lucky Devil but they did an awesome job cleaning up my overgrown covid mug. Bea is a rock star. There's alot of cool stuff to look at while waiting for a chair, and the Barbers seem friendly and inviting. Will definitely be back.

Fantastic experience: I've been coming here for a little over 2 and a half years as well as bringing my kids here. The staff has always been professional, courteous, and friendly. The service is amazing, i refuse to go anywhere else to get my hair cut. The way that they have handled all of the covid-19 pandemic restrictions is impeccable and for anyone looking to get a flawless cut or trim I would give Lucky Devil my highest recommendation.

Fantastic experience: Last year, I was looking for a new Barbershop and started to do my research. Found Lucky Devil was close and that I drive by it all the time. I decided to give them a shot and made an appointment via their easy to use online scheduling system. To put it simply, my entire experience was AMAZING! Everyone that works there was super friendly and always had a smile on their faces (can even tell behind their masks). Their décor is unique and artistic with a hint of old school. The atmosphere was very down to earth and tranquil even while music was playing. Eventually everyone in the shop started to sing lol. Overall, this is one of the BEST Barbershops around!!!!!

Negative experience: I was recommended this place by a friend for my son's haircut. I'll start by saying the haircut was fine, nothing necessarily wrong with it but not great. My real issue was with the staff. I called to make an appointment, gave my son's info, including age. When we entered, there were no signs about mask wearing, but I had my mask on, however my 7 year old and my 4 year old did not. We were told to go wash our hands then he could sit for his haircut. While we were in the bathroom, I was approached by another staff member and told my kids needed masks. I explained I was unaware, I had my oldest son's in my hand (just in case) but my youngest was in the car and I could go grab it when we finished washing hands but I explained they didn't wear them in because of the Governor's rule (under 10 don't need one). This is where it gets ridiculous. She goes in on me about how we shouldn't even be in the building without one and barber shops have different rules than everyone else. Ok, cool. Like I said, I have masks, I will put them on as soon as their hands aren't full of soap and water. She continues to argue with me that we shouldn't be in the building. I point out that I wasn't told on the phone that children were required to wear masks and their staff allowed me into the building and didn't mention anything about the kids not wearing masks. She continues to go on about how we shouldn't be in here and I need to stop arguing with her. I just ignored her at this point. I walk to my car and grab my youngest son's mask, walk back in, and she is talking trash about us to the other stylist. At this point I did everything to keep my cool because all of this is happening in front of my children. My 7 year old son says "mom, you weren't arguing, she is" which I point out to her that even he can recognize how rude they are. She did the hair cut, which again was fine. While I'm paying she asks me if I want to leave a tip, which is ridiculous because now I'm pressured to do so. I point out to them that their website says the kid's haircut is $16, but they are charging $20. She said their website is wrong and if I had used the app it would've been up to date. Their lack of respect for their clients and complete disregard for how they treat people is disgusting. Both myself and my friend will not be returning. If you want an average haircut and don't mind rude people, then by all means go see them.

Fantastic experience: Amazing atmosphere, the ladies are sheets professional, and have great senses of humor, I always leave with a great haircut. I’ve been to many other places and no other place has come close to doing as well as this place does.

Fantastic experience: This is an outstanding establishment! All of the employees are extremely friendly, professional, and enjoyable to be around. They're all good friends and make the whole place seem very welcoming to everyone. You can tell how much they care about what they do from the quality of cuts you will receive there. This is my go to barber and it will stay that way until I leave the area.
