Positive experience: This was our second time at this barber and our second time leaving less than impressed. 3 stars only because my oldest son liked his haircut with Dan. No issue there. I usually do my kids hair (I was a licensed hair stylist) but I know my limitations when my 8 year old asked for designs. I told Matt it’s usually faded from skin on the sides and that he wanted it just long enough on top to spike it up sometimes. And that he wanted some kind of cool design. He looked apprehensive about doing a design. Fine. It’s not everyone’s thing. I asked for a hard part and he said he could manage that. I also asked for his front cowlick to be cut short (he said he was too nervous to do that) Long story short… it’s much too long to spike on top, extremely choppy, uneven, and the hard part is non existent. After a hour, I didn’t have time to explain all of this and have it fixed. This is the second time we’ve left with this exact same experience for my 8 year old. An apprehensive barber and a hair cut nothing like what we asked for.

ALWAYS S-tier cuts here and I've been dozens of times over the years. Other barbers charge more for less. Don't sleep on this place.

Fantastic experience: Joe is the man. Came in for a buzz cut, #3 on top with a low skin fade, and he absolutely delivered. The blend was flawless, with a clean descending transition that was soft and seamless. He even finished with scissors over comb to make sure everything laid just right. Topped it all off with a hot towel and neck massage, that final touch that takes it from a basic cut to a premium experience. Champagne skills, no doubt. If you’re looking for a top-tier barber in Ocean View, stop searching. Joe’s your guy.

Fantastic experience: Lions Head Barbershop in Norfolk is hands down the best! I used to go there all the time while stationed at Norfolk Naval Base Lisa was my go-to and she always had me looking sharp. Every time I got back from being out at sea, this was my first stop. They take care of you, no question. I love their appointment system.super easy and even during COVID, their mobile setup kept things running. The vibe is great, the setup is clean, and a lot of the clients are military or vets, so it feels like home. Not far from base, and way better than the NEX barbers. If your chief just chewed you out for being out of regs, hit up Lions Head. They’ll fix you up with a clean fade or high & tight, no problem. Big shout out to Lisa!

Negative experience: Got a haircut, Lisa accidentally nicked me with the clippers. Normally that's no big deal. Except here I am a week later as the cut has swelled and become a staph infection. So seriously, make sure they clean their tools in there.

Fantastic experience: First and foremost I have been a client of Lionshead since DAY ONE!! And before that I have followed my barber John through two other shops prior to him making the decision to open his own business. I make the trip from Portsmouth weekly to get my haircut and have NEVER been disappointed. Over the years I have had every single barber in the shop cut my hair more than once if John was going to off. And again I have NEVER been disappointed. Even my wife having Eric fade her undercut bi-weekly and my son as a walk-with Chis have NEVER been dissatisfied. We always walk out looking sharp. I would like to touch on what I have read in the “negative” comments as far as “seeing” other barbers “standing around” while you wait. Or being un-professional. If you are a walk-in then there are only 2 barbers that handle that. The rest of the crew are appointment only and will try their best to squeeze in a walk-in if time allows without putting their clients behind schedule. It’s how it works there. And it’s how it’s been since day one. Lionshead isn’t your dainty beauty salon where everyone acts like programmed robots. It’s your local neighborhood barber shop. They joke, laugh, converse and have fun and is what I expect when I walk in. I love them, my wife loves them and our son refuses to go anywhere else.

Fantastic experience: I asked my wife if it was weird if I was in love with my barber. She said no. Aaron is either the most emotionally intelligent person ever, or hates talking as much as I do. I come in, we say hi, I sit down, he asks me what I want, I say “same as usual”, and then it’s amazing and peaceful silence until he says “okay all set.” Then I pay and leave. Literal heaven. Thank you Aaron for never making me make small talk and obviously sensing I want to sit in silence. Oh and he also gives the best haircut in the area. End of review.

Fantastic experience: I went in with a friend, “Nasty Nate”, and asked Joe for a haircut and something weird and silly on the beard. He was very detailed and you could tell he has passion for what he gets to do. The whole crew was into it and as someone who usually cuts his own hair and shaved his face clean, I will be a regular from now on.

Negative experience: Came in to get my kid’s haircut as a walk in, as their website states that they do. The hair stylists were rude as hell and started arguing amongst each other in front of the entire store about them being irritated about “when can they start telling people no” about walking in. While there’s THREE other employees standing around outside. Walked out and never going back. You don’t talk to customers like that and you don’t argue in front of each other about how irritated you are with each other. Never going back. Good luck running a business acting like that.

Fantastic experience: Chris is fantastic. He listens to the customers input and meets their needs. He takes his time no matter when you walk in to give the best possible cut. My son and I walked in at 5:45 and Chris did not try to rush or cut corners to get us out the door. I loved the vibe of the place! This is a men’s shop, but they were all super considerate of my son and didn’t make him feel uncomfortable at all. We will be back and I will be telling everyone that this is a fantastic place.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to Lionshead Barbershop for 6 years now; I cant speak highly enough about this shop, it’s owners, their employees, the atmosphere, and ofcourse their A1 service! They’re efficient, priced very competitively, and deliver the cleanest fades you can find anywhere. I work in fashion and clothing design and I don’t go a week without getting a compliment on how clean my cut is, whether from a stranger or a friend who sees me all the time. Aaron is my go to because he hasn’t let me down yet and I love his consistency on his service and always within the appointed 30 minutes. Aaron does not stand alone either, all of his colleagues hold to the same delivery of service that he does. I’m telling you, them once and tell me you’re not impressed! I’m a forever customer for sure, for as long as I live in Hampton Roads!

Fantastic experience: I just got an excellent haircut here. First of all, they have a way to get in the waiting list from the website. You don't have to make an account and sign away your life, just put in your name and phone number. You can see where you are in the list from the link texted to you. Cool The haircut was professional and quick. These guys are real barbers. I really enjoyed it and it was not that expensive. I highly recommend Lionshead barbershop.

Fantastic experience: Everyone here is quick, professional, and listens to what you want done. I've experienced multiple barbers here, and not one of them has ever rushed my haircut. I do recommend making an appointment as being a walk-in may take around 45 minutes to an hour. Always worth the drive to go here and I live 30 minutes away.
