Fantastic experience: I had an appointment with Joey. He was super attentive and collaborative. He gave me the absolute best haircut I've had in ages. I brought in a reference photo of what I was trying to go for and he absolutely nailed it, making recommendations to fit my hair and head along the way. The establishment is extremely clean and inviting, and the whole team was friendly. Overall an incredible experience and I am looking forward to my next visit. 10/10 Highly recommend

Positive experience: It pains me to award a friendly staff with a negative review, but $63 for a simple 2-length buzz cut is absurd ($75 after tip). No razor touch up, no shampoo, not even a hot towel. I honestly feel that 3 stars is being kind.

Negative experience: Decent haircuts, but for a place as expensive as it this, you’d think you’d think they could afford someone to answer the phones! I understand that booking happens online, but for minor last-minute changes there is no way to communicate them online. Really frustrating and not a good look to cheap out on customer service when you are charging 80 dollars for a haircut. As is the fact that I consistently have to wait at least 10-15 minutes after my appointment time to be seen. And as a response to the owner’s condescending comment below, most industries do in fact have someone available to answer the phone. As I mentioned, I understand that the policy exists, I just think it is bad business and indicates cheapness (which is not ideal for someone in the service industry).

Fantastic experience: I stopped by this barber shop a few weeks ago, and I’m really glad I did. The atmosphere is welcoming from the moment you walk in — clean space, good music, and friendly barbers who make you feel at ease. My barber took time to listen to what I wanted and offered some helpful advice to make the cut look even better. If you’re looking for a place that combines skill, cleanliness, and a friendly touch, I definitely recommend giving this shop a try.

Negative experience: I had a haircut with Bo/Bogdan, I specifically booked the most senior barber available for a scissor cut and shave. During the booking process, I was even asked to provide reference photos — which I did. When I arrived, the barber assured me he understood what I wanted. After washing my hair, he began cutting, but within seconds I realized it was far too short. I told him so immediately, yet he insisted it would “look good.” Unfortunately, by then it was too late to stop him. He didn’t section my hair at all, cutting completely freehand, and clearly had no idea how to handle a proper scissor cut. My hair, which had taken me ages to grow, was left full of harsh lines and uneven lengths. To make matters worse, instead of acknowledging my concerns, he tried to convince me that he’d done a good job. I walked out devastated — there’s nothing I can do now but wait months for my hair to grow back. For $150, I expected a skilled professional, not this kind of result. Unless you’re after a clipper cut or a fade, I strongly recommend avoiding this place.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend, I’m from Texas and go here every time I come to visit Boston. Only place I trust to do my beard. Had Dan (the owner) do my beard for my wedding and it looked amazing. Just went in today and Zak hooked it up, maybe even a better beard trim than Dan! Cannot recommend enough!

Negative experience: Came in as a walk-in. Nobody spoke to me for 10mins. After that Zak spoke to me and asked me to come back in 30 minutes (11:15). It is now twenty minutes later and he is still cutting the previous person. Needless to say no one else has spoken to me. Bush place with no interest for new customers or respecting their time.

Negative experience: I hate to say it, but I didn't have a good first experience with Gama. I brought pictures of the haircut I wanted as inspiration but he left me with something thicker and poofier than I wanted. When I prompted him to take my beard line lower, he looked incredulous and talked down on the idea. It wasn't a very collaborative discussion, and he was a bit rough with the comb. Finally, he left the back of my neck raw and inflamed from the shave.

Fantastic experience: I have been coming to Barbershop Lounge on Newbury Street for years. My son went first and recommended it. Rosa has always been the one to cut my hair. She is THE BEST. An artist with a scissors and razor, Rosa is a perfectionist who always makes me smile when I leave. Whatever event I have coming up, Rosa always makes me look and feel my best.

Fantastic experience: So I wanted to try something different because lately I’ve been struggling mentally and I also don’t have that much hair to begin with lol so I looked on yelp for barbers in Boston and barbershop lounge was highly recommended. Maleena was recommended as being amazing so I decided to take a chance and go with her. I was pleasantly surprised by the look of it from the outside and the inside. It felt very rustic and just calm and relaxing. I sat down at the coffee bar and maleena came over and greeted me and confirmed what I booked for which I did appreciate. She then asked me if I ever had my head shaved before and I said yes and that it was weird so she then made the choice to make my experience there amazing. She told me what she was going to do which was huge because for me anytime you trust your hair or anything with a professional it can be odd. She made it super relaxing and I was actually able to close my eyes for a little. And then she went about shaving my head which was relaxing and when she was done I was blown away by it. I just wanted to say a huge thank you to the the barbershop lounge for making my first experience there amazing. You gained a new customer. I will definitely be coming back. I highly recommend meleena but honestly if she’s booked you can go with anyone and you’ll feel confident and cool afterwards. Yet again thank you barbershop lounge and meleena for making my experience and my time worth it.

Negative experience: Asked for a beard touch up and said I wanted to keep it around the same length or slightly shorter, I think he took too much off. Ignored the few patches I pointed out that I wanted to keep length near to cover. If I had asked for a short beard I would be happy, it’s a good shave and the upper cheek-line/blending looks good, just not what I asked for.
