Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to Charlies Barbershop for a lil over a year now and it’s easily the best spot in the Boston area! The shop has a relaxed, friendly vibe and you can tell everyone there really cares about their craft. I book with Michael and he always gets it exactly right, always great conversations too! Never feels rushed, prices are fair, and I always leave feeling fresh and confident. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a reliable barber in the area.

Fantastic experience: TL;DR: Great cut! But bring cash. Charlie will take care of you! Booked through Google/SquareUp, not the shop’s own site — unfortunately Google and SquareUp had no mention anywhere that it’s cash-only (not the barber's fault, they have no control over how Google and SquareUp list them). Found out mid-haircut when another customer realized the same thing. Turns out, in an emergency, you could use Venmo or Zelle, but in order to keep this place affordable, you really should try and bring cash. I misunderstood that option and ended up walking to the ATM to withdraw cash. Love the cut and I'll be back.

Positive experience: I have been getting my hair cut at Charlie's, by Charlie, off and on for approximately 8 years. The word that comes to mind when thinking of this business is "reliable." I have consistently found Charlie to offer a haircut to my satisfaction. With an appointment, there is no or a minimal wait time. And Charlie cuts hair fast (20-25 minutes total), with no compromise to quality. His communication is great, periodically checking in on progress during the cut to ensure that I am satisfied with the direction of his work. And to begin with, he is specific when requesting what it is I would I like to have done (size of clippers to use, what to do at specific areas of hair, etc.). My only real "area for improvement" would be to somehow try to keep prices low and not increase them, though I recognize this may be a necessity to keep up with the times. I highly recommend Charlie's!

He can finish the sides and back with either a clear cut, which is more for a business, or natural, which is more for a casual. Since I started getting my hair cut by him, I am never disappointed when I check it again at my home.

Fantastic experience: Adam works with PRECISION. I received a low-ish fade, taper cut down to a 1/2, I comb the top. I was a walk-in from out of town, saw guy in front of me get something similar and Adam nailed both of them. I am someone who is very particular with my hair and I left Adam do his thing! Positive experience: Charlies gives a great haircut, generally they are my go-to haircut spot in Cambridge. One thing to note - they are cash-only. In a pinch they can accept a zelle payment. Their cancellation policy is punitive and if you cancel day-of, you will have to pay the full amount of the missed haircut.

Despite moving to Boston the following year, I have continued going to Charlie’s after being consistently pleased with their service. I would specifically recommend Michael Pach, who has cut my hair at the majority of my visits over the years. Michael is a fantastic barber who combines skill and experience to create a clean fade every time. My curly hair can be difficult to manage, but Michael makes the task appear rather effortless. Being immunocompromised makes me feel anxious in public spaces, even all this time after peak COVID. Michael has always helped me to feel safe and respected, efficiently working around my mask and keeping everything clean and tidy. Michael is also a very nice person and will chat with you if you like but doesn’t force a conversation, which I like as well. I appreciate his work very much and will be a customer at Charlie’s because of him for as long as I remain in the Boston area.
