Negative experience: Dont get me wrong the people here are very nice but they need to slow down and actually listen to what the customer wants and take their time with the haircut. All i wanted was a fade with NOTHING off the top which i clarified twice. I even stopped them before they started cutting and said to leave it, they then proceeded to do it anyway like what?!?Now all my edges are uneven and the top of my hair no longer slicks back. Very upset, ive never had to actually call a place and ask for a refund for a haircut. First time for everything i guess.

Negative experience: I get my haircut weekly and twice I’ve gotten Aaron V. Both haircuts have been some of the worst cuts I’ve gotten in San Diego the past ten years. Absolutely butchered me the second time to the point I felt I had to leave a review. Had me feeling like I was back at the Marine bootcamp barbers where they close their eyes and just let the clippers just go to town. 2 stars just because I can’t attest to the other barbers there.

Negative experience: This place is a joke. Different “hair cutters” every week. Last time I had my haircut here, I was left with a bald spot on the back of my head and wasn’t even informed of it.

Fantastic experience: Emmett was awesome! Did a great cut and was very friendly/personable. Even at the end of his shift/day, he still provided excellent service and took the time to make sure he gave me the right cut. Truly a 10/10 experience and I’ll definitely be back to see him again.

Negative experience: The lady with blue hair was decent but the quality of care was not outstanding or worth the price. I paid $56 for eyebrow trimming, haircut, and a beard line up. The eyebrow trimming shouldn’t even be part of the cost it was done was a trimmer, instead of wax or thread. It is not going to last long, and will grow back quickly. The shampooing they don’t offer for free it is for a cost, the lady didn’t mention this. Luckily it was my first time so it was free. I told her halfway through I wanted to have my beard touched up, and when she finished my haircut she looked confused. It doesn’t seem like she can remember client’s requests. She didn’t really do much in terms of the beard, like it looks the exact same as how I came in. Lastly, she needs to work on ensuring she respects clients and their differences in sensitivity. I told her that my Adam’s apple is sensitive and she looked at me weird and told me that the trimmers aren’t that sharp, instead of understanding and displaying compassion. 25 years she states that she’s been cutting hair, but the lack of empathy, care, and skill says otherwise. The best part of my service was being able to play with the Pitbull in the shop, even the Pitbull looked tired and bored of the place just lounging there. Prices need to be reconsidered, if the service isn’t going to align with skill set and hospitality skills. Back home my haircut, eyebrow trimming, and beard is $47, and I usually tip. Here it was $56 and they expected a tip, outrageous.

Positive experience: If you’re in the service department, you need to learn how to listen. I never write reviews, but this time I felt the need to because every time I get a haircut, they cut it wrong. I tried to explain to the lady I wanted to cut. She rushed me and immediately started cutting me up , And made me feel like I was bothering her for trying to explain what haircut I wanted. Very rude and unprofessional. Ultimately, it was an OK haircut but definitely not what I wanted.

Fantastic experience: Karamia is the only hairstylist i have every deliberately sought out after receiving a cut from her one time. she is friendly, patient, and a whiz with scissors. she helped me to transition from blonde/pink to 2 shades of purple and talks everything through with me thoroughly to make sure we are on the same page and i am happy with the outcome. i’ve never felt so comfortable communicating my thoughts and opinions with another hairstylist.

Fantastic experience: I was in SD for business and I was starting to look a bit homeless with my long hair. Francisco took me as a walk in 1hr before closing, and gave me one of the best cuts I've ever had. Highly recommend this location and Franciscos services.

Negative experience: I have been here before and they do a good job for fades or basic haircuts, but… I have been growing my hair out for months and got it straight up butchered by Victoria today. Literally the opposite of what I asked for. Unfortunately I didn’t realize until about halfway through the haircut how much she actually took off from the back which I made clear in the beginning that I loved the length and just needed a light trim. Seemed like she was in a hurry to get it done which unfortunately left me looking like one of our founding fathers. Not even sure why I paid for it. Only leaving 2 stars because she did a good job on my beard.

Fantastic experience: First time at Floyd’s 99 Barbershop and definitely not my last. I can name 99 places to go to but Floyd’s 99 Barbershop is the #1 that I would first recommend. Shout out to Christine! I now have a personal stylist to help me choose from different styles and hair color to change it up for the new year. From her kindness to her professionalism, she has a way to make you feel welcomed. She is a great conversationalist. Her and the assistant manager have delivered the greatest customer service. Thank you both so much. Do not forget to take advantage of their hair products. Right now they have a two for $35 on any of their hair products. Thank you for recommending the money piece to compliment my chocolate and caramel balayage.

Negative experience: My husband asks for the same cut every time, and ever since he started coming back here a couple of months ago he’s maybe had one good cut. It’s really disappointing that I have to clean up areas after that have been missed or not cut how he asked, especially considering how much he pays for it.

Negative experience: I wanted to provide some feedback regarding the haircut appointments my husband and I had recently at Floyd's 99 Barbershop. My husband had a great experience during his second visit with Francisco. He was very happy with both the haircut and the service he received. Francisco took the time to wash, cut, and style his hair, providing a thorough and enjoyable experience. My husband will definitely be returning for future appointments with him. However, I cannot say the same about my own experience. I had a simple request to trim my ends, but unfortunately, the service I received from Khristine was very disappointing. The entire haircut took less than 10 minutes, she didn’t comb or dry my hair, and when I asked for a brush to style it, she responded with an attitude and said, “I just cut hair.” This left my hair in a mess, and I couldn’t properly see the result. On top of that, when I got home, I realized my hair was uneven, and I had to fix it myself using nail scissors. It was very frustrating to have to do this, especially after paying for a professional service. For the same price, my haircut and experience felt rushed and lacked the care and attention my husband received. I am left wondering why the service quality is so inconsistent between stylists for the same service at the same price point. I hope that this feedback can help improve the customer experience for future visits, as it was disappointing for me to feel so neglected while my husband had such a positive experience.

Negative experience: I've been here 3 times First time was with Karamia and it was one of the best haircuts I've ever received. The second and third times were with 2 different barbers and both times when I asked for a mid skin fade I received a high skin fade with uneven starting points and poor to no blending.

Positive experience: Had a shampoo and blow out (long hair) which was well done $40.

Fantastic experience: Pablo was great when I saw him. I used to go to the Pacific Beach location until it shut down, but I am willing to make the extra drive because I know Floyds will do my hair right. I am extremely anxious about getting my hair cut, but Pablo made me feel right at home. Its not every day that I meet someone that has the same hobbies and interests that I do… it felt more like chatting with a friend than getting a haircut. Above all, my hair looks fantastic! Ive received nothing but compliments from friends, family, and coworkers alike

How awesome that was! Ultimately the free perks changed my mind about the price. And of course my haircut was perfect. From the moment I walked in, (I booked an appointment on line), I was greeted with a friendly smile from the front desk associate. I was introduced to Monica. The person that was to cut my hair. She has a beautiful smile an awesome disposition and made me feel as if I'd been a regular customer for years. The atmosphere of the barbershop and of course Monica made all the difference regarding my decision to return. Monica gave me a great cut, is personable, easy to talk to and made me comfortable. I'll be returning to Floyd's and Monica for future haircuts. Monica you ROCK! Thanks for a great experience.

Fantastic experience: 8 years since I had a barber touch my hair. Ever since then, I've just been cutting my own hair because of people not cutting my hair in the style I wanted, and also just anxiety. But Francisco over at Floyd's in San Diego made my experience as comfortable as possible, along with making my hair look even better than I had imagined, in the exact style I wanted. Extremely friendly throughout the entire cut, not a single awkward moment, and was very communicative regarding how I wanted my hair and cutting in the way I had wanted. You're awesome, and I'll definitely be back once I'm back intown.

Negative experience: Got the worst haircut. Nothing like the image I showed as it is way too short and uneven. Some of the stylist are really good but I won’t be returning after this.

He takes the time to understand exactly what I want while also offering his expert suggestions. He is an expert in fades. The precision with which he cuts always leaves me surprised. Each fade seamlessly blends without any harsh lines or uneven transitions. If you're in need of a top-notch haircut I highly recommend Oscar. he's truly one of the best barbers out there.

Every station has a wash sink so you don’t have to move to get your hair washed out, Laura did a really nice fade on my hair and the vibe of the shop was great. Their hours are also convenient because they’re open till 8 and the price was really great compared to most other places I’ve been downtown. Definitely going back.

Negative experience: I had an appointment at Friday for 9am as soon as they opened. I made an early appointment because I had to be at a show by 11am. I walked in and asked for a fade. The girl they assigned me said she doesn’t normally do fades so she was going to start cutting my hair and then hand it off to another barber who was more experienced with fades. The girl ended up cutting my hair from a 4 to a 0 without fading it. She also cut my hair so slow that it took an hour before she finally handed me off to the other barber. He did a better job but was not able to save my cut. It took them 1-1/2 hours before they finished. Then they charged me $55 for a haircut I was not happy with. They didn’t offer any discount or even apologized for what happened. I was then late for my show. Will never be back here. You can find much better barbers for a much better price.

Negative experience: Poor customer service. Granted partially my fault. Had an appointment for 7pm, walked in with an obvious limp (currently have a broken toe) at 7:11. Was told that more than 10 min late is a no show and that I could not be seen. It's one minute guys. Do better.

Negative experience: This place is located right in the heart of the gaslamp district it's very well kept and professional parking is very difficult to go to this location staff is not the friendliest and don't really listen to what you want for a haircut in addition to this their prices are about 35 to $40 and that's without shampoo or any gel in your hair I'm not sure if that's standard pricing for a simple trim but hopefully because there are small business they'll work on making their prices more competitive.

Fantastic experience: This was my second visit to Floyd's 99. I am very satisfied both times. Very clean place and friendly staff. You can usually find a walk-in slot otherwise book an appointment. Prices are reasonable compared to other places. I hope they don't increase. I would recommend Floyd's 99!

Negative experience: It was very expensive for the quality of the cut. Once I got home and really looked at my head I was disappointed. I think I could have gone to Walmart and gotten a similar quality of cut for a fraction of the price. My recommendation to out of town travelers is to avoid this place and just book with someone you are familiar with that does good work.

Fantastic experience: Moved here in November and found Kathleen. Always a little hesitant looking for new stylists but Kathleen has been great. Got me to try something new with my hair and now I ask for it everytime.

Fantastic experience: Honestly, it all comes down to Hannah C. at Floyd’s 9th & Market location. I’ve been a customer of Floyd’s off and on throughout the years. It wasn’t until I got scheduled with Hannah that I knew Floyd’s was my forever barber. Hannah takes time to listen to her clients, executes a precision haircut, and then does a double and triple check to make sure every hair is in place. She’s one of the kindest human beings I’ve ever met and now that we’re established, it feels like visiting a friend once a month. She cares enough to remember events and family members I tell her about and asks about them each time. Hannah is truly an exceptional barber.

Hannah is awesome and it's always nice to talk to her after a busy day at work, or a relaxing weekend. Really easy to book an appointment online and usually in and out on average within 20-30mins. Will continue to come back here.

Fantastic experience: Hannah C. Is just the best! I’ve been going to her for about 2 years and I recently moved out of downtown but still make the commute whenever I need a cut. She is so calculated and precise and very very fun to talk to! If you ask her opinion about a style she will give it to you straight up and once she’s done your hair a few times you don’t have to remind her what you want!
