Fantastic experience: What a mind blowing and incredible experience!!! The ambience the staff the service!!!! I came in for the Japanese Head Massage to prepare for a long week ahead and it truly was worth every penny! This place reeks of elegance and class… so much so that even in a 3 piece suit you will feel underdressed… this establishment prides themselves on service and they cover it… I urge getting there a bit earlier than your appointment to enjoy a complimentary spirit and a couples minutes to really take in the atmosphere… Lizzie took care of me more than i could ever expected!!! This woman’s hands are gold!!! She is truly blessed with the midas touch!!! If im being honest, i cannot tell you everything that she did but after just afew moments of massaging my scalp, i was fast asleep. Feeling a bit embarrassed, she assured me everything was fine and that she was happy that I got a chance to truly relax… all in all fellas this is the place to come to get pampered… the eye candy is plentiful as well… shoutout to Brooklyn at the front desk, her fit was incredible! So much in fact, it could even make stevie wonder turn his head and take a look! her smile a could cause a traffic jam… truly breath taking… in conclusion, ill be back as soon I return from this business trip!

My experience exceeded all of my expectations. My services were for a first time haircut and stay-for-a-shave. The stylist, Grace, took extra time ensuring the style I wanted. Grace is highly professional with exceptional attention to detail. She gave the best straight razor shave! Again, exceptional attention to detail, was very gentle and I was totally relaxed. Fantastic experience: Raquel was awesome and I'm completely satisfied. A few notes for the owners: 1) Why don't they have her bio on the website. Definitely a missed opportunity to share what she's capable of and her experience. 2) Location is on the second floor. This is not apparent from the Google listing. And not really apparent from the website. Add something like "2nd Floor" to the address on the website as suite numbers in uptown can be irrelevant. There is a sign the stairs but you're just kind of thrown into a nondescript, directional-less hallway initially. I thought I was in the wrong place. I think there's opportunity for better, more lux signage (aka, signage in keeping with the vibes and status of the business). There is an elevator available. It would be nice if the sign also pointed to the elevator. Regarding the service... Raquel and I spent a few minutes before my service reviewing some hair styles I've had, inspiration photos, my hair type, lifestyle, what I'd like to accomplish, etc. I believe she completely nailed it. I was going for a "bro flow" style haircut to work with my natural curls and a beard trim to not look like a hobo santa. I have very fine hair and a lot of it. (To which she can now attest!) I was confident in her skills in dealing with fine hair + curls. I received several compliments on the style and beard trim at an event later in the evening after my appointment. Will I return? Yes. I booked my return appointment while I was there. And if you want a girl-mom with serious scissor skills, you'll book with Raquel too!

Lizzie herself is great! We had an engaging in-depth conversation the entire time and it made the 45 minutes fly by. The haircut was also superb and she really knows how to cut thick, curly hair like mine. The clean up around my neck was perfect too: love the feeling of a straight razor shave/clean up and she handled it like a pro. She was spot on with the reference I showed her and I loved the cut, and I received a raving review from my fiancé as well. 10/10 will be back here again with Lizzie!

Fantastic experience: Moved to the area and was looking for a new barber/stylist. After searching for a while, I decided to try here after reading reviews which were favorable. It was easy to schedule on their website. My style isnt incredibly complicated but wanted a stylist who could help me style better and understood my hair type etc. Decided to go with Lizzie and she was amazing. Really took the time to listen to my thoughts and how my hair was cut before and how I wanted it to look. Came up with a long term plan for growth and how we would style. She is a true professional. The salon is very nice and organized, undergoing some reno but doesnt take away from the aesthetic. Having drinks available is nice touch as well. Did buy a package for my future cuts but overall would very much recommend.

Fantastic experience: Finally! After so many years of mediocre haircuts by transient employees at Charlotte’s “best known” men’s salons, I have found the one place that delivers on every promise. They call Emerson Joseph a “Men’s Grooming Lounge”. The place screams bespoke, speakeasy, class, and the most professional staff in the region. They make you feel so at home as soon as you walk in the door. I have been to Meagan and Taylor and left feeling like a new man with both of them. If you have a beard, go for the “Beard Line- Up”… utterly life-changing and worth every cent. Taylor was all hands on with a velvet - even cashmere touch - and not only was she a master artist with her craft, I have never been so confident in the way I look. And they have this skin renewal program for your hands. Raquel took great care of me and literally made my hands look 20 years younger. I yell at my hair every day to “Grow! Grow! Grow!” so I can get back over there for the most relaxing and rewarding experience ever. I can’t rave enough about how thankful I am to have discovered Emerson Joseph!

She went above and beyond and not only answered my questions, but also showed me how to care for my hair with a daily routine. Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to Emerson & Joseph consistency now for two years or so. They are very welcoming upon arrival & so caring w/ the way they treat you, whether it be taking your coat, grabbing you an ice cold beer, or pouring you a nice, fresh water. The staff is most helpful w/ arraninging my appointments & recommending products for me to use after each cut. I have never left displeased, never looked in the mirror after my cut is done, and never walked far from the door w/out receiving a compliment. One day someone approached shortly after a cut w/ a business card complimenting it while saying they could do a better job for a lower price, even asking me what I paid. I thanked the man for the card, politely took it, and carried about my way. I get so much more than what they ring me up for. I go there knowing that I am cared about as a customer & leave w/o one worry guessing if I got a great haircut or not. That gentlemen never offered me that, and that is what I find most valuable. I don’t go there for the cut, I go there for the experience.

Yes, it's a little more expensive than what I’m used to, but it’s the perfect example of you get what you pay for. And in this case it was totally worth it. The shop itself is gorgeous—tons of wood, an industrial vibe, a full bar, magazines, leather lounge chairs, leather bar stools. You’re even offered a drink when you walk in. Honestly, I want to go back just to hang out. Taylor was awesome. I told her to do what she thought would be best for my haircut and beard trim—something I’ve never felt comfortable saying to anyone, ever. And yeah, I was nervous. My beard is pretty long, and I was worried she might chop it down. But I trusted her, and I’m glad I did. She started by washing my hair before the cut (I got a 2nd wash later!). The haircut came first—super precise, super detailed. Even the chair I was in was next-level comfortable. Then came the beard. She reclined me back (comfortably, not like the other places where I feel like I’m about to snap my neck), and got to work. When she finished, I was blown away. My hair was perfect. My beard was still long, but clean, shaped, and sharp. She hit my neckline with a straight razor. Then another staff member came by and offered a hand massage—nice touch. After that, I was led back for that second wash, a hot towel on my face, and the most unreal scalp massage I’ve ever had. Then she styled my hair with some products I actually liked more than what I’ve been using. Hands down, the best haircut and beard trim experience I’ve ever had. So good that I’m here leaving a review—and I hate typing, texting, all of it. But this place was so worth every word. Taylor is100% worth it.

She is very friendly and knowledgeable about hair and grooming practices. Part of my reasoning for switching to an upscale barber was to get advice and knowledge on how to maintain long and curly hair. She has been very helpful in suggesting produces and techniques to make my long hair look it’s best. My hair has been growing in healthier and has less frizz and dead ends. It’s worth it going to an experienced hair dresser and Raquel is the best!

The whole place is a gentleman’s dream. They first asked if I wanted something to drink (yes bourbon was an option), rinsed my hair, cut my hair to perfection (Alex is a legend), conditioned and massaged my hair, hot face towel, a quick shave, face massage, and finally styled my hair. Never spent my money so well.

My beard is a trade mark of my personality and I don’t trust anyone else to do the work because there’s no chance anyone can do it as well as Raquel.
