Fantastic experience: I use to go there and see Mandi. Mandi moved on and I followed but it just wasn’t the same. I love this shop, the people are great and Payton Slycord gives a great fade. So looks like I’m coming back because of Payton. She took her time, didn’t rush, and it looks great. I didn’t have a hair cut due to a medical issue for a months, she trimmed a bear lol, and I’m looking fresh. Thanks.

Haircuts have been a challenge for us in the past, but my child truly enjoys going to see Elian, which means so much to me as a parent. Negative experience: last time i went it wasn’t the worst cut ever but they cut so much off in length i asked for my hair to be at my eyebrows and to take off half a inch to a inch of bulk he took off no bulk and made the length go to middle of my head i asked for this cut and wasn’t satisfied

Negative experience: I'm relatively new to Durham and was happy to find Jennifer at Hawk & Fade a few months ago. However, after 3 visits, I will not be going back. Here's why: Visit #1: My appointment was honored. We had a nice chat and did a good job, so I decided to keep coming back. Visit #2: She texted me a few minutes before my appointment to say she had double booked and needed me to wait 5 minutes. Not ideal, but fine. Visit #3: I walk in for my appointment and someone totally different tells me to sit down in his chair without even acknowledging that I had an appointment with Jennifer. And when I asked, he said "she's a little backed up today." Apparently, 1) the reservations that she gets from the attached salon next door are more important, and 2) she doesn't even give the courtesy to tell you that she's not going to honor your reservation. She could've texted me when she realized she was double-booked, but chose not to. She could've come in to the barbershop to tell me in person she couldn't make it, but chose not to. In other words, I chose her to be my stylist and she chose to disregard me. I don't ask for much, but I do expect my reservation to be honored. And if it can't be for some reason, that's not the end of the world, but for the love of sweet breakfast meats, tell me ahead of time. Otherwise, what's the point of a reservation?

Fantastic experience: Took my son here the other day. We are from out of town and needed a cut. John and Clay were awesome. Took time to talk to him about style and how to take care of his hair. Would definitely recommend and would definitely come back. These guys were great!

Negative experience: Made an apt for a quick beard shave/trim. Apt was at 5pm, arrived 10-15 minutes (no worries) happy to wait. 20+ minutes after my appointment time and they aren’t even close to ready. If your looking for something quick, please look somewhere else

Negative experience: Barber (jermaine) started cutting somebody else's hair When I was on time for my appointment. I walked in on time and he sat somebody else in the chair at my appointment time, If i show up on time for my appointment I expect the barber too as well. unacceptable customer service and a bad look for the shop.

Fantastic experience: I walked in randomly one day last minute on a Sunday evening to get an emergency cut and Payton was available. She has since been cutting my hair for months now and I'm blessed to have met her. She is amazing and versatile with both the clippers and scissors which has been an issue for me in the past as I require both. Definitely give her a chance if your reading this bc she is very professional, listens to your needs, cuts all hair types/styles, and always makes sure you're satisfied with the results.

Negative experience: I’ve been to this location before and previously had a great experience. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was disappointing. I came in for a lineup and beard trim, but was told that what I wanted qualified as a haircut and that my 15-minute appointment didn’t allow enough time. The barber then offered minimal service and seemed uninterested in accommodating my request. At that point, I decided to leave rather than sit through an experience where I felt disrespected and dismissed. I would have gladly paid for a haircut if the situation had been handled more professionally. It was clear that the barber did not want to provide proper service, which was very disappointing given my past positive experiences.

Fantastic experience: Really great place, I’ve went here three times and I get exactly what I ask for and it always looks good. Everyone there is nice and friendly, it’s a great environment and the best place in Charlotte to get your cut

Fantastic experience: Due to stubborn cowlicks I've generally just buzzed my hair but I recently decided to try a more stylish cut and gave Hawk & Fade a try. Paul cut my hair and I can truly say that I've never been happier with how my hair looks in my life. He was also a joy to talk to during my cut and went out of his way to guarantee my satisfaction and offered to let me come back in and have him fix it up later in the week if I decided there was something I didn't like (which wasn't the case... the cut was great). I'll definitely be coming back to see Paul again.

Fantastic experience: i came in looking to get a gender affirming modern mullet cut and i left with an edgy sick-ass mullet. my barber was Carlos, he made me feel comfortable and heard during the whole cut. the shop itself is also super cool, i’ve never been into a barbershop that had a motorcycle in the middle and also served modelo, soda, and water in a little mini version of a bar. me and my partner were just passing through Charlotte for the day but i will 100% recommend this barbershop to anyone local or otherwise!! Negative experience: Yesterday I visited this barbershop for the first time, and while I left with a good haircut, I also left feeling frustrated and with a headache. At one point, a barber came in he didn’t even look like a barber because he wasn’t wearing the same uniform as the others. He went straight to the music, and while all of us clients were calmly talking with our barbers, he turned the volume up so high that it honestly felt like he did it just to make us stop talking. I think that’s really disrespectful to both the customers and his coworkers, who were working peacefully. My advice to the owner is that employees with that kind of defiant attitude are better off out of the team. I say this as a business owner myself with more than 20 employees it’s better to let people like that go, because they’re the ones who give your business a bad impression and hurt its reputation.

Negative experience: When you go to places like this, you expect a certain level of expertise — especially when their website claims they have experienced professionals. Unfortunately, my experience was quite the opposite. It was, without exaggeration, the worst haircut I’ve ever had. I understand it can sometimes be difficult to explain exactly what you want, but I even showed a photo for reference. For someone who truly knows what they’re doing, that should’ve made the job simple. Instead, the result was far from what I asked for. Very disappointed overall.

Fantastic experience: My son got a low taper fade by Sierra. He liked his haircut alot. I took my son to multiple haircut places and he would always be disappointed with the outcome. He liked this place and said he wants to come back to Hawk & Fade next time. The place is very nice and clean. The people there are very nice and friendly.

Negative experience: No respect for appointment times. Had a 6:45 appointment, showed up early. Person checking people in lets me know that the person my appointment was with was running a little late. At 7 when he was finishing the haircut of the customer in front of me, the customer’s kid then gets on the chair and he starts a new haircut. What’s the point of making an appointment?

Negative experience: Booked a first time appointment online. Get there on time and they check me in. Tell me it will be a few minutes. 22 minutes after my appointment starts and they take a walk in customer in front of me, they ask if I’ve been helped. The person who checked me in says nothing so I respond, I had an appointment that was supposed to start 22 minutes ago. They go to the computer and say they’ll call the barber to let them know I’m there. I decided to cancel the appointment. What’s the point of an appointment if they aren’t going to honor it. I wouldn’t waste your time coming here. Plenty of other great barbers within a mile. Take your business elsewhere!!!

Fantastic experience: I want to give a huge shoutout to Carlos for the great job he did on my hair! I have had alopecia for a couple years now and my appointment with him was my first haircut in 3 years since my hair has now grown back. I do still have some small bald spots from my condition, but when i told him that and how I wanted it cut, he went straight into action. He was very polite and extremely careful and meticulous with my hair. Being gentle and explaining every step along the way, and why he was doing it. He even cut it in small sections to make sure the hair laid right and covered my small remaining bald spots. I couldn’t be more happy with the conclusion, as I left feeling very happy and confident. The respect and care was top notch so I would definitely suggest Hawk & Fade to anyone, and to especially book my boy Carlos!

Negative experience: My fiancé received a very poor haircut from here and they booked him for the wrong service. He has a spot on the back of his head he specifically always ask for barbers to keep covered and the girl cutting his hair cut it way too short and you can see the spot. It’s really the only thing they could have messed up and they did so he won’t be coming back here unfortunately.

The people I know who have been to him are all happy and they are all different ages young and old. He does all kinds of hair white hair and African hair. The place is great. I really relaxed.

Positive experience: Not my regular store , i had to get an emergency cut and decided to visit this shop. Had a decent experience, i guess for me the chemistry between client and barber matters, thats why i probably stick to one barber. One time experience was fine. Very unique shop tho, love the wall with jordans, very creative.
