Fantastic experience: Yall I came to get my hair done here by Jess. I have extremely long and full hair and don’t trust many people with it. She gave me so much more life and let me tell youuu.. YOU COULDNT TELL ME NOTHING WHEN I LEFT THERE!! She will forever my only stylist

Negative experience: Went in for a trim, showed a reference picture, got nothing close to what I asked for. Definitely went scissor happy. The barber didn’t even wet my hair for the cut.

Negative experience: The online booking system is an absolute nightmare. I’ll go anywhere else

Negative experience: I had an appointment with Jacquelyn yesterday, and unfortunately it was one of the worst haircut experiences I have had in a long time. I asked for a simple fade, but from the moment she started, I could tell something was off. The final result looks nothing like a fade. There is no blending at all, and the sides look like a bowl cut. I am very disappointed because this was a basic request that should have been straightforward. I was hoping for a clean, professional look and instead now have to go to another barber to get it fixed. I would not recommend booking with Jacquelyn.

Negative experience: They literally choose to not answer the phone when they're booked up apparently so I just walked 15 minutes in the cold for them to tell me oh yeah we're booked up. There's about five more barbers around here. I'd recommend them over them.

Negative experience: This morning’s interaction at the Gulch location was one of the most unprofessional customer service experiences I’ve had in Nashville. It was 25 degrees, icy, and hazardous outside. I arrived at 9:46 AM for my 10:00 AM appointment at a location publicly listed as open at 9:00 AM. Instead of a greeting or a simple request to wait, the manager (of all people) addressed me with visible irritation and a dismissive tone, saying, “You have to come at 10.” This was not about timing. It was the look, the tone, and the attitude—condescending, demeaning, and unnecessary. I was made to feel like an inconvenience rather than a client. I have been a regular customer for 18 months. I am also a U.S. Army Major—someone who operates in high-pressure environments where respect and professionalism are not optional. No one should be spoken to this way, regardless of who they are. Policies can be enforced without contempt. Today, they were not. This experience ended my loyalty to this location.

Negative experience: Th stylists usually do a good job but the front desk staff was very rude, I showed up at the wrong time by mistake apologized and asked to reschedule. Said I didn’t mind the cancellation fee because it was my bad and asked if I can reschedule and she was very rude, wouldn’t do it and said you can do it online.

Positive experience: How could the website possibly get worse and worse to navigate. Get a professional to look at it. It is a nightmare to try and book an appointment. The people's photos are so small, they cant even be seen. Sometimes I get a haircut and I don't remember the person's name so I try and look at the photo. And the streamline process of setting the appointment is awful.

She asks questions to ensure she knows what one has in mind. Then she executes like a pro. Don’t hesitate to let her work her magic on your wig.

I had an appointment with Jesi Shires and from then on she has helped me (4.5+years now). Amelia Fusco also cut my hair for a few months when Jesi was gone for a bit. Both Jesi and Amelia are extremely talented and great people. I highly recommend them and scouts.

I walked in with scruff and stubble, and walked out feeling like I’d been chiseled from marble. Ashley didn’t just shave my head and face — she orchestrated a grooming experience. From the moment she laid down that first hot towel, I knew I was in expert hands. The precision of her straight razor work? Flawless. Not a nick, not a burn — just silky smooth skin and confidence cranked to 11. And the eucalyptus towel at the end? Bro. It was like my pores had a religious experience. Ashley’s vibe is chill, her attention to detail is laser sharp, and her skills are the real deal. If you’re serious about self-care, or you just want to feel like a million bucks, go see her. Five stars ain’t enough — she deserves a constellation.

Ashley did a phenomenal job and was a real delight to have cutting my hair. She ensured that I liked everything every step of the way and also offered her opinion which was wonderful. Negative experience: I would strongly not recommend this barber shop if you’re planning to walk in without a prior appointment. I called ahead to confirm availability and was told to come in — no mention of a wait or that appointments were being prioritized. When I arrived, I was asked to wait, which I didn’t mind initially. However, 45 minutes went by with zero updates, and I watched multiple people get served ahead of me. What’s worse is that no one had the courtesy to check in or give me any kind of time estimate. A simple, “It might take a while,” would have been enough for me to decide if I wanted to wait. Instead, I was just left sitting with no communication whatsoever. If they’re appointment-only, they should make that very clear during the call — not mislead people into wasting their time. Bottom line: Don’t waste your time unless you already have an appointment — and even then, don’t expect great customer service.

Negative experience: Three major problems: Limited parking, terrible algorithm on the website, luck-of-the-draw hair stylist. I was fooled by the glowing ratings but the expertise and experience is heavily designed for men’s cuts. The parking is a HUGE problem. There are 2 spots for scouts that stay full. Looking for street parking and paying for it is an additional cost to this location. Add an extra 15 min to find parking to your appointment time. Secondly, a long cut is 45 min. This also includes hair wash. So if you decide to go for full service, good luck being done in 45 min. There is no buffer time in the case of delay. I lost 15 min into my appointment trying to find parking. When I came in, I got a hairwash for the sake of hairwash. My hair dresser said she can’t blow dry my hair because it is an additional service that apparently cannot be booked and there is no time for. She literally made no attempt whatsoever to ensure I got a proper haircut. Because she had a client right after my appointment she didn’t bother to check if my haircut was even, whether I had enough layers.When I came home I saw that I had uneven hair and barely got layers. I had to book another appointment to fix the bad job and they matched me with a hair dresser who does not do women’s hair. Since I was flying the next day, I was adamant to get my hair fixed in this location or another. Thankfully another master stylist stepped in fixed my length and ensured I got a proper cut. It took her only 12 or so min. I really appreciated her proactive care, stepping in between clients to ensure I got my hair fixed. I tipped the first time because that’s basic. I tipped the second time because she truly deserved it for being proactive. Long cuts are expensive anyway. This experience cost me two tips+ parking + the extra drive + anxiety = $70+, not to mention the scheduling fiasco and the terrible customer service from the first hair stylist. I highly doubt they can accommodate walk-ins and provide a decent hair experience given how time-bound they are. I came back to Scouts because I had a great experience at a different location. Unfortunately, that hair stylist moved. Never coming back to this Gulch location.

Fantastic experience: Amelia Fusco always gets me right when I visit Scout’s. Great conversation and the best haircut. It took me forever to find the right spot in Nashville, but I’m now a loyal patron of Scout’s and Amelia.

Negative experience: I had an appointment and showed up just a few minutes late — only to be told it was cancelled. No prior warning, no grace period, just immediately turned away. When I tried to explain, the owner was incredibly rude and dismissive. I understand that time is important, but the complete lack of professionalism and courtesy was shocking. There are plenty of places that treat their customers with respect — I won’t be coming back here.

Negative experience: Haircuts are good, the woman who cuts my hair does excellent. The lady who answered the phone tonight rudely and hung up on me ruined it for me though.

Fantastic experience: Karli is sooo good! I had a bad cut from another stylist about 2-3 weeks ago and she totally fixed and restructured my cut. It was so out of whack, surgically took her time, actually measured the problem, and sorted it out. Couldn’t be happier! Thanks Karli

Fantastic experience: Can't recommend Dalton Williams enough! Does a fantastic job, and is a really nice dude. I've recommended him to friends around the area and they've had similar reviews about him. Best barber in Nashville! And the reception area is great. They'll even offer you a beer while you wait!

Negative experience: Really wanted to get the haircut experience there, but the website booking is all backwards. Someone needs to fix the booking website. You have to select the stylist before you know the schedule. You have to enter your email address before proceeding. Ugh. If this is your gateway to the world, I don't want to come to the shop to find out how backwards it compares. Please fix your tech.

Fantastic experience: Let me start by saying I’m a black man with a bald head. I was very skeptical about having someone shave my head. When I tell you Taylor does a great job in shaving my head and face. She has managed to pull me away from a barber that I’ve used since childhood. I don’t know how she does it but I can tell you it’s amazing. She has such a great personality and we talk about all types of things. Always great and professional.

Negative experience: The first impression of the receptionist is RUDE, condescending, and unprofessional. This person does not greet you, acted like they were inconvenienced by your presence, and was RUDE to walk in customers. I saw and heard this person, in a very RUDE manner tell walk in customers they were all booked up before they could even speak, boastful, that they were booked like a nightclub door person. It was off putting to the potential new customers clearly by the look on their faces. It’s not my first observation of this persons work. The phone is rarely answered when you call and when I’ve been in the shop, I’ve seen this person literally make no effort to walk quickly and grab the phone before it stops ringing. They do not look like they want to be in customer service at all. No complaints about the barber or haircut.

Fantastic experience: I've been to multiple Scout's locations in the city based on my timing and convenience. While they've all been great, Emmy and Abigail have me returning to the Gulch location. The atmosphere is always welcoming and professional and whenever someone asks where I get my haircut I let them know to check out this shop.

Negative experience: I arrived for an appointment at 5:45 15 min early at 5:30. I was still waiting by 6:10. I didn’t even pick a barber, I just wanted a haircut from someone with two arms. I ended up canceling and leaving. It is UNACCEPTABLE to charge customers when they cancel within the hour, but then don’t respect customer time when they arrive on time. Either honor the time of the appointment every time or remove the cancellation policy.

Fantastic experience: First timer here…made an appointment the day before I flew into Nashville. My regular stylist was out of town and I’m very particular about WHO cuts my hair. I decided to take a chance on Scouts after a bunch of solid positive reviews. Went with “First Available” and luckily I scored Jesi as my stylist. She cut my hair just as great as my normal stylist. She had a way she blended it together and ended up trimming my hair more than I usually get BUT it looked great! I was absolutely impressed by her skills. Jesi was very nice and we shared a few laughs together during my time in her chair. I would absolutely be back. The haircut was actually CHEAPER than my normal spot so I made sure the gratuity made up for it. ; ) Thank you Scouts Barbershop for the convenience and THANK YOU JESI for the amazing haircut!

Fantastic experience: Ask for Ashley Wilkerson! I came in looking more tattered than a tangle of Tennessee tumbleweed. Miss Mullet Magician moved mountain and molehill to make my mane more majestic than a Montana Mustang. I went from most wanted by the law to most wanted by the ladies. I cannot thank Ashley enough!

Negative experience: I usually don’t make comments but this was is important. I went to get a haircut for the first time since moving to Nashville. The place is very nice, environment, music, etc. However, the service was not good. I paid the lowest $32.00 plus tip, expecting a professional haircut. I asked for a low fade, something I always ask for. I am someone who has always liked to have my hair cut well, and I pay attention to the techniques. But since she started to cut my hair I realized that something was not right, she didn't ask me any questions during the time she was cutting my hair and the result was not adequate, not very professional. I won't say the name because it doesn't make sense, the company must review the quality of employees. Hope they improve!

Fantastic experience: The lady that cuts my hair is Amelia Fusco. I went in and told her to make me look good with full trust in her. She gave me the most professional mullet I have ever seen. I have since been approached by many people with great compliments. These compliments have now led me to having multiple baby mothers and I am afraid to go back for another haircut because I’m not sure I can afford another baby. 10/10 recommend to let this lady make and ruin your life.

Fantastic experience: I thought this place was a taco shop at first, but I guess they also cut hair. Sam Capasso was my server. He did a great job at it even though they didn’t have anything I wanted to order. Sam was really nice and even suggested some other places I could go to if I wanted some of the things they were out of, like chips, salsa, tacos, or a kitchen. At least I got a haircut out of it

Fantastic experience: Sam helped me rescue my partner from the sad cycle of disappointing hair cuts. I took partner to Sam on high recommendations. Sam welcomed him, guided him into the light, and returned him with a fabulous, well manicured head of hair. It was a transformative experience and definitely created a new devotee. Also of note: the staff were very welcoming and helpful, street parking was easy (<$5), and there are a few places in walking distance to grab a drink or a snack while waiting if you're not the one being transformed

Sam is my go-to stylist. Full of charm and knowledge of the classics and latest trends, he listens to my ideas and guides me to handsome cut. A hospitable gentleman, he has taken the time to know me as a person and always asks followup questions about what’s happening in my life. Would refer to a friend!

Fantastic experience: I don’t think I really, truly, understand what it meant to be a man until I went to Scout’s Barbershop in the Gulch and got my hair cut by lead stylist extraordinaire, Sam Capasso. A friend recommend Scout’s, so I checked it out and did my research (aka looked up/stalked a few stylists instagrams to see their work) and Sam seemed to have potential to pick up what I would - eventually, be putting down so I decided to book an appointment. I was nervous going to my first appointment in a new city (I had just moved to nashville, had no friends and had trust issues with my hair), but Sam was immediately hilarious, comforting, personable, and warm (that might’ve also been the shave cream he used on the back of my neck). I felt relieved to have instantly found one of the things I was dreading most about moving…finding a barber. Since then, Sam has taken my hair, and my style to a whole new level. I started off with the classic slick-backed, fade on the sides, Brendan-Urie-Panic-At-The -Disco, hipster bowl-cut, and Sam has slowly but more than surely, helped me transition to a business up front, party in the back, buzzed on the side, mullet/Mohawk situation. I feel like I can join the Lost Boys, I’m getting close John Stamos mullet level, my mom said I looked like Patrick Swayze (I used to get told I looked like an “idiot” normally so this is a big improvement). Not only is my head turning more freely due to the improved aerodynamics, but everyone around me’s heads are ALSO turning getting many compliments and wearing confidence like its never going out of style. Posting a picture from a photo shoot I did about 6 months ago (it was for an underwear company but I don’t want to post the underwear pictures because I don’t want this to get flagged or something, I also prefer to remain humble - just kidding, or maybe I’m not, you decide - also no idea why I decided to pose this way but the photographer said it was “cool”, I don’t know though, the photographer was also buying cigarettes for kids I think who may or may not have been underage at the gas station which is not very cool if you ask me). My hair has much more party happening in the back rn but this pic was taken one day after Sam cut my hair. Thank you Sam and thank you Scout’s for the comfort and boost in confidence. I am incredibly grateful.

Negative experience: Charged my card $32 without even telling me, I didn’t even get a haircut there today. I scheduled an appointment but wasn’t able to make it due to work, so they decided to charge a cancellation fee which they claim was $16… I have no idea if I will get my money back like they said. I was a loyal customer until now.

Fantastic experience: My hair is weirdly difficult to cut, if it isn’t done right it looks good at first but then grows in weird on the top and sides. I haven’t been able to find anyone in Nashville to cut it right in four years, until I booked with Ashley Wilkerson in the Gulch. I just show her a picture and she 100% nails it every single time - not to mention she’s funny as hell, pays attention to every detail, and always makes it a great experience. Highly recommend.

Positive experience: I love the Scout’s chain. I only recently discovered it’s actually a chain. There are several locations in Nashville. I recently quit going to the Germantown location and started going to this one in the Gulch because Emmy moved locations. Apparently she’s going to start working at both now, which is great for me since I live in Germantown. But seriously, ask for Emmy. She’s fun to talk to, friendly, easy on the eyes, and just an exceptional barber with great styling advice. She Alison does beard trims and shaves and will even shampoo your hair for just an extra $5. The only reason I gave this four stars instead of five is the location. The Germantown location is just more chill than the Gulch one, and more importantly, the Germantown one has a parking lot. This one does not, and all the nearby parking lots are paid. So it’s either pay out the wazoo or find street parking, which isn’t always possible. Oh, and did I mention that all Scout’s locations have free beer on tap? I think that’s pretty dope.

Fantastic experience: After searching for a new barber/stylist for a long time, I crossed paths with Emmy P at Scouts, and I haven’t let anyone else cut my hair since. She is a skilled pro who goes the extra mile to make you look your best. She cares deeply about the quality of her work and collaborated effectively with the client to make sure they’re satisfied. Additionally, she’s always personable, warm, and professional. Nothing but good things to say about Emmy and Scouts.

Fantastic experience: Had a great experience at Scouts! I flew in for work and my hair was bad - looked like a lion's mane. They were able to book me same day and Jacquelyn delivered a fantastic cut, great beard trim, and great conversation. Draft beer while you wait and an inviting, comfortable space to relax in. Negative experience: I was a bit surprised about Emmy P. She had a lot of good reviews online, reason why I choose this place and especially her for my first time here. Online booking was efficient, easy to use and convenient. My appointment was at 2:15pm. Was there 5min earlier, the atmosphere was nice. She was a bit late but it was not an issue for me. She seems sick or I don’t know but she was shaking, not confident during my haircut, etc. I paid $32 and I left like the job was not done properly but I didn't want to stay longer. Finally the day after I decided to go in an other place without saying nothing but the new hairdresser said that she needs to correct the job done before as nothing has been done properly to be equal on each side. I don’t know what to think, maybe the bad day for Emmy and an unlucky day for me …

Fantastic experience: Emmy gives me the best haircuts I’ve ever had. She gives me a high fade. Other places I’ve been are no comparison to Emmys skills. Go see her, you won’t be disappointed. Just leave me a spot open. Ben Maggart

Fantastic experience: 10/10 cannot recommend Emmy enough! I've had an undercut for three years due to very thick hair and have gone to multiple salons in the area but Emmy is the only person who's been able to straighten it out and fix it for me.
