Negative experience: I really wanted to love this experience. The haircut and beard trim themselves were good — no issues with the technical work. I left looking clean and polished. But for $150 (with tip), I expected something that felt elevated and personal. I booked the 15-year treatment and facial sculpt for 75 minutes, and we wrapped up in about 60. As a first-time client, I specifically mentioned that I was looking for recommendations and guidance on style. I was genuinely hoping for input — what would suit my face shape, beard style ideas, ways to elevate my look. That’s the part I was most excited about. It never really happened. What stood out most during the appointment wasn’t a style consultation — it was the explanation of the membership program. I understand upselling is part of business, but it felt like the most intentional, personalized part of the visit. That was disappointing. I’ve had $20 haircuts where the actual cutting experience felt similar. Offering a drink is a nice touch, but it doesn’t justify a premium price if the overall experience doesn’t feel premium. This felt like a real opportunity to turn a first-time customer into a fan. I walked in ready to become one. I walked out just feeling like I paid a lot for something that was simply… fine.

Fantastic experience: This place is such a vibe. I hate reviewing things but two years of consistent quality service is worth 5 stars. Bar staff is always super friendly (shout out to the Friday crew). The membership is a good value especially if you take advantage of the free upkeep between visits. I'm confident all the stylists there will do a great job but I highly recommend Alannah. If you have never received a compliment on a haircut do yourself a favor and schedule an appointment.

Fantastic experience: How to even begin! For starters, Conner greeted me with enthusiasm and explained the process to this newly. From there, Michele walked me thru the steps and we collaborated on my desired trim. Absolutely what O was envisioning Then, stepped up to the bar and discussed drink options. Settled on Bookers and talked about their old fashioned game. They floored me with their knowledge and I ended up with a black walnut old fashioned. SUPERB! Left with a monthly membership and beard care!

Fantastic experience: As someone coming from a typical franchise barbershop, this place can’t be beat. Imagine walking into a bar, knowing no one, and having a bar tender/stylist calling out your name as if you’ve been a regular. That is what I was met with when I walked through the door at scissors and Scotch. From the moment I entered the door it felt like I was in a specially curated spa for men. Bar on one side with an amazing old fashion and a barber shop on the other. The haircut that I got was amazing. The attention to detail was incredible. This isn’t your typical shop/franchise that tries to rush clients in and out of the shop, it’s an experience. For anyone looking for an hour a month to sit down have a drink and a great haircut, look no further.

Fantastic experience: Mackenzie at the Olathe, KS location is excellent. Very polished in her craft and just good at what she does. If she’s available when you’re booking, no brainer. Alannah is also another high quality barber in this shop. Rumor has it they’re all just really great at what they do. The high quality environment, specifically the cleanliness around the cutting stations and shampoo bowls is always maintained with high levels of detail and care by the various barbers here. You can see the value they associate with their craft in how you see them care for little things like that. The quality of the haircuts and beard upkeep becomes a secondary consideration when you’re at this level of establishment IMO. You’ll get a good cut and treated really well, and the quality of the cuts will only improve the more that you and your barber get comfortable with each other. Craftsmanship executed purely, with attention to detail that’s focused in the right areas is how I would sum up this place. You can also grab a beverage before or after if that’s your thing, or just enjoy the nice lounge area and catch up on the emails you missed while you were attending your monthly therapy/church session that is the haircut done right. Note to the ownership team: Would be a nice addition to the Wichita area, specifically on the east side in a location like Bradley Fair or the Waterfront. Downtown is riddled with barbershops, but this level of quality would do well as Wichita continues to grow out of the old sleepy town it used to be.

Negative experience: I went to Scotch & Scissors expecting a quality haircut, but what I experienced was painful, careless, and physically damaging. The stylist used thinning shears extremely close to my scalp, cutting far too deep and aggressively. I felt immediate pain during the haircut, and within hours I noticed burning, redness, and visible bald spots where healthy hair had been removed down to the root. The attached photos show the results — including the red, inflamed area on my crown and the lasting patchy damage that followed. This wasn’t a simple “bad haircut”; it caused real scalp trauma that I’ve been dealing with for months since the appointment. No professional barber should cause this kind of pain or damage. I hope my experience helps others avoid going through something similar.

Negative experience: Although I’d had great recommendations of trying this place and the bar tenders were great, the barber service was sub par (Sam). I don’t mind paying a good sum of money for a quality cut and a quick hot towel treatment; but please at least make the cut worth it. Next time I come I’ll try and make a quality reservation. Positive experience: Shoutout to Amy for fixing my issue, but leaving this below as well. Impossible to cancel membership. No online option, tried calling to cancel in store to cancel twice, and they still charged me two more memberships fees. When I followed up about it again they took my name and number over the phone but I’m still not confident they are going to do anything. The fact that you can sign up, but not cancel online is extremely shady and intentionally manipulative.

Fantastic experience: Went today to get a haircut for my wedding. I have long hair and I’ve always struggled to get a good cut at normal places like sports clips. I finally gave up on those and decided to spend the extra money given the event I have coming up and went to scissors and scotch. Got my hair cut by Brittany. She did an amazing job and took the time to have a conversation about past negative haircut experiences , what I didn’t like about them, and what I was hoping to get from this cut, and ended up giving me the best haircut I’ve ever had. If you’re a guy with long hair and you’re struggling to find a good place to get your haircut, definitely hit up scissors and scotch. Will be coming back for all of my future haircuts!

Decided to book an appt and was impressed -- they have experienced stylists that listen to your needs and care about your final look, with comfortable amenities and reasonable prices for their services.

Fantastic experience: I’m old, all 34 years of me. In the entirety of my life at getting haircuts, this was single-handedly the best experience I have ever had. One the bar manager was very knowledgeable, insanely polite. I recently moved to Kansas, and that set the tone right away. Absolute gems up there. The experience only got better. Darian was polite, young, and excited. She was pleasant, professional, and it was a great time. Alannah is probably the best employee on the planet. I would hire this girl in 2 seconds, and she would probably run a department for me one day. The personable skills were insane. She was professional. That bear sculpting probably made me a better person after I left the place. New to Kansas from Arizona, and I honestly could not have been more satisfied. I signed a 7 year deal, so you have a customer for the next 7 at least. Absolutely blown away. Thank you so much.

Fantastic experience: I can’t say enough good things about my time at Scissors and Scotch especially with my stylist, Michelle. The atmosphere in the salon is fantastic: stylish, welcoming, and just makes you feel good to be there. Michelle herself provides top-notch service she’s attentive, skilled, and really listens to what you want. Every cut is spot-on, and I always leave looking and feeling my best. If I could, I’d keep coming back to this location, but unfortunately, my new commute from the office just makes it a little too far out of the way. That’s the only reason I had to change locations! Otherwise, I’d still be a regular here for sure. Highly recommend Michelle and the whole team at Scissors and Scotch!

Fantastic experience: My first time visiting a Scissors and Scotch. Honestly, the only reason I came in was, Leslie, who had been cutting my hair for over a year, recently started working at this establishment. The lounge was clean, comfortable, and a place where it would be easy to unwind with an adult beverage. The staff were friendly and helpful. Although S&S is more expensive than I’m used to, I’ll be back, because of Leslie. She does a great job with my hair, and is so delightful to be around. 5/1/25 Stopped by for the complimentary refresh between haircuts. As usual, Leslie did a great job. I don’t know that I will use the between haircut service often, but it’s nice to know it is available when needed.

Fantastic experience: Came in for the first time over the weekend. First haircut (outside of buzzing it myself or going to one of those budget ‘get in, get out’ places) in a while. I can’t believe I waited this long to try this place out. Literally worth every penny. Darian did such a great job. Not just on my haircut, but educating me on how to best style my hair type. She was so attentive to detail and ensured I was happy. An experience I have never received from other salons I’ve been. I’m already booking my next appointment for May.

Fantastic experience: Initially skeptical, Lauren started the conversation about hair preference and my style. It is one of the best shampoos and head massages I have ever had in years. She asked about what quarks (hair patterns) she had dealt with, and I explained the various issues. I relaxed; she was the specialist and asked questions about my personal preference. She continued to cut my hair. I had no clue what she was doing; she had me look up. WOW! It was so impressive that she cut some more before I could say anything. I looked in the mirror; bam, it was terrific. She had a plan, and wow! It looks amazingly great.

I travel a lot and got my previous haircut from this godawful place in Galveston, Texas that was twice as expensive and did a crappy job. These guys fixed me up real quick when I went in this time. Would highly recommend. People here know how to do a correct skin fade and will suggest what will look good on you. Kudos S&S.

I'm sure you think you've been to get your hair cut someplace amazing before, and I'm sure it was nice. Just try Scissors and Scotch and you'll have a whole new definition of amazing experience.

Positive experience: Got a gift card for fathers day. Never been to a Scissors & Scotch before so selected "any stylist" option and got scheduled with Darian. She was excellent. The only disappointment was with Scotch included in the name you would have thought you got a drink. I was offered water only. Maybe you have to be a member or maybe that was the only free drink? Not sure.

Negative experience: My son has had his haircut here three times. I had to come home and fix two out of the three with my clippers. There would have been a fourth try, but they called to cancel my appointment less than 15 minutes before it started. I asked if they could fit me in with someone else and they said "not today". They are too expensive for the quality of haircut that you get (can't seem to follow instructions very well) and apparently have scheduling issues as well. I'll be looking for a new place. Anyone know of a good place for a teenage boy to get haircuts around here?

Negative experience: After three visits, I’ve decided that S&S is not the place for me. The price is extremely steep at $50+tip for a 30 min hair cut. That’s not color and frill, that’s a simple hair cut. I was reminded of the 30 min limit constantly during my last visit as I went from long hairstyle to a very short cut. I was uncomfortable with making such a stark transition to begin with and my stylist, Haide, spared no consideration to the fact. She rushed through the cut after receiving me 5-10 min after my scheduled time, repeatedly commenting on how we were approaching 30 min, as if I was some big inconvenience for being there. At one point during the cut she asked me what I thought and I said it looked perfect and we could stop there, and it did, but she ignored me and continued cutting and swiveled me away from the mirror. When she swiveled me back it was extremely short and oddly cut. I couldn’t believe it. I left in a flustered hurry in hopes that I could figure it out in the privacy of my bathroom. Nope. A week later I feel absolutely terrible about it. Possibly the worst and most expensive cut I’ve ever had. The bar staff were pleasant and my previous visit with Michelle was decent but nothing worth $65. Just go to Sport Clips, guys. This is a scam.

Fantastic experience: As soon as I walked in, I felt like royalty. The staff was so welcoming and informative. The bartenders were as friendly as can be and my complimentary old fashioned was fantastic! Not to mention I got a fantastic haircut!

Fantastic experience: Friendly, helpful to newcomers, chill. It’s on the expensive side compared to a great or sport clips, but I’d say it’s certainly a better experience. You can also sign up for a time slot online as opposed to waiting in a queue. Pay for everything at the bar.

Fantastic experience: Lovely establishment. I come here nearly monthly and Alexa , not the Amazon one, cuts my hair. I'll say, before coming here and having Alexa cut my hair I couldn't get a date to save my life. After having her cut my hair I now have to keep at bat in the car to keep the women at bay that are constantly after me. It's great. Brooke at the front was the one that recommended the haircut. So she's an accomplice in my current problem of attracting to many women.

The bar is clean with great drink options with amazing deals for members; which is a very competitive offer you should ask about. Attention to detail and comfort of their guests seemed to be their top priority. The fact they gave me one of the best haircuts of my life was just an added bonus.
