Fantastic experience: I went into appointment with Gaetano for the first time feeling pretty down after a few very difficult months. I booked a haircut and beard trim. The haircut was one of the best I have had and the beard trim was excellent. I asked if he had time for a razor shave (my first time) and he managed to squeeze it in. The shave was such a great experience despite being very uncomfortable in the chair due to shoulder injury, absolutely no fault of his. The entire service was perfect, Gaetano was a joy to talk too, I left feeling like a million bucks, what more could you ask for? Thank you Gaetano!

Fantastic experience: Coming from europe I have a hard time finding a barber that actually knows how to care for full beards. But I was relieved after my appointment. I have a long and thick beard, and it’s difficult to maintain. I received a Hot towel beard trim from Mark and it was probably the best experience I’ve had in a long time. My skin feels clean and my beard looks sharper than ever. You’ll see me back in 3 weeks boys, Thank you again!

Negative experience: I'm sorry to say this but it's my worst haircut ever. Fade was 6.5/10 it goes high exposes the flat part back of my head with hair very thin on it. However, hair trimming was horrible. No directions on hair cutting/trimming, everything is crooked and not balanced. My bangs was trimmed short exposing my big forehead, the other side is shorter than the other side. Not a tier A barber for me. I've been to many barbers in my life but I felt bad for my haircut on this one. It is my first time but I'm not coming back. If I'm gonna rate, I will rate 3/10 overall

Fantastic experience: I'm in Kingston for a few weeks and needed a cut and beard trim. Gaetano was amazing, listened to what I wanted, made some suggestions, and was incredibly personable through the whole appointment. Sadly I won't be in Kingston by the time I need a cut again, but if I don't find a place I like where I'm headed, I'd definitely be willing to make the (relatively short) drive to come here again.

Positive experience: My son is very particular with his hair, it has to be a barber. We were in a pinch and tried this place. My son was happy with the cut, however there services are not as highlighted on the website. For $30 there was supposed to be a shampoo, condition and beverage offered. There was none of that with the service just a standard barber kids cut. Again the service provided was good, I am just not big on places that advertise more then they provide

I’ve had my hair cut at several premium shops in town over the past decade - I’m telling you - this is the best haircut I’ve ever had. The fade and styling work is insane!! I’ll never go anywhere else in Kingston after working with their team. Side note - the shop and location is very convenient for parking (that’s saying something if you’ve been to downtown Kingston lately). You won’t be disappointed and in fact - I’d wager that you’ll be delighted with your decision to switch to The Barber’s Philosophy. Fantastic experience: I used to get my haircut at CFB Kingston. But for a similar price, and a veteran discount, you get a wash/condition, cut, rinse and style/product. Also drinks and cookies are out for customers. The staff are really friendly also. To all my military friends: This place is great and we get a discount with great service and atmosphere. You can also book your appointment online. Give it a try.

Negative experience: Nice guy, communicates regularly. Unfortunately, the communication doesn't mean much when he doesn't do what you ask, and denies making a mistake after it is painfully obvious that he made one. If you come here, prepare to leave with a few laughs, a lot less bangs.

Fantastic experience: My toddler had a great experience here. This was his first time in an actual barber as we used to take him to a kids hairdresser. He loves talking to his barber. No tablets, good old conversation about favorite movies like transformers, power rangers, etc. I highly recommend them if you are looking for a place that will give a great cut and to transition them for style and cuts.

Fantastic experience: The barber's philosophy is a great spot. The guys there were incredibly skilled and detail-oriented. Communication matters a lot when getting a haircut and these guys made sure I was getting the exact haircut I wanted.

Positive experience: It’s average at best but its Kingston I get it. For the price you’ll pay it’s really not worth it. I tried 3 times but each time I felt rushed and came home with a lot of choppy and uneven sections despite communicating what I wanted. For the price the attention to detail and overall quality is bad, paying the same amount elsewhere or in a city like Toronto you’d still get much better cuts. The owners are good people but that’s not all it takes.
