Matty my barber makes me feel comfortable every time, he gives me solid cuts that make me feel good about myself and confident, and provides conversation throughout that feels friendly and genuine. Super happy I stumbled onto Matty and onto this place.

Positive experience: The overall experience was a 5/5. The staff have a fun effortless chemistry, it's in a very easily accessible spot, the haircuts I saw (including mine) were all really well done. I just wish it was a little less expensive. Almost double the price of where I usually go. It's more of a testament to how inexpensive my usual barber is than a flaw of The Common Room specifically, but it will keep me from returning very often. Other than that though, great vibes and great haircuts.

The stylist even used a really good hair clay to finish the look—lightweight, not sticky, and it held my style perfectly without making my hair feel hard. I appreciated that they explained what was the brand of the hair clay.

Fantastic experience: Best barber experience! If you ever parented a teen, you know how tough it is to find things both parents and kids agree on. After a year of searching I almost gave up hope finding a barber that could do a stylish cut my 16-year-old hockey player son would feel great with, AND would also provide quality and service that would make his parents happy. And then I was thrilled to find Alexis at The Common Room Barbershop, because he provided the best barber experience we’ve ever had, with both teen and parents leaving extremely happy. After sharing some photos and loose ideas of what my son was looking for, Alexis made some suggestions that addressed our concerns. He had great barber skills that we haven't experienced anywhere else with texturizing and styling. This was probably the first time the final cut absolutely met and even exceeded the expectations, and there were nothing that we wished was done differently/better. Alexis is also a hockey player and a fan, so the conversation during the entire cut with my son was a pleasant surprise and a great added bonus that enhanced my son's experience. Alexis' help with selecting the styling products was also very much appreciated. The shop’s ambiance was nice. Scheduling an appointment was easy on the phone just a day prior, and the person who booked it for me mentioned the student discount, which I certainly can’t complain about. Even though we came to see Alexis while visiting Montreal from the US, and live about 9 hrs from Montreal, we’ll definitely be coming back to see him when we are in the area.

Fantastic experience: Jose has never done me wrong, my burst fade and beard trim are immaculate every single time without fail, even when it was a new look for me. Normally barbers might struggle with fine hair and thick beards, but I leave every appointment feeling so unbelievably fresh. It may feel pricey, but I argue that once you find "your guy" in the shop, it's more than worth it (+ Student discounts!)

Fantastic experience: This barbershop is very aesthetic and has a wonderful atmosphere. The barbers are very welcoming and easygoing. It was my first time there and I got an overall nice haircut with a solid fade. The barber cut my hair a bit shorter on top than what I would have liked. I showed many reference pictures for the length I desired on top and this time I didn’t get the style I wanted. I have wavy/curly hair and mentioned multiple times that I wanted to keep some lengths and the curls. While the barber communicated back to me the length he planned to cut off, he cut off significantly more than what was communicated. The owner reached out to me about this and he was very understanding. He went above and beyond to make sure I’m a happy customer. I look forward to future cuts at this great place near my work. The owner reassured me and I have full confident that my next cut will be more in line with what I desire.

Fantastic experience: Now I get why this barbershop has 5 stars. While on a trip in Montreal, I was due for a haircut and went there. It is safe to say that I got one of the best haircuts of my life. Enrique convinced me to get a high fade buzzcut and I love the work he did. Now it is gonna be difficult to find the same back in my hometown of Brussels.

Fantastic experience: Best haircut I have ever gotten. I didn't believe the 5.0 but I do now. It's even more impressive considering I was half falling asleep in my chair after 2 full days of Osheaga (plus the ed banger 20th anniversary party, which blew away this stupid american). Sam was so patient and crazy skilled. I had no idea how percentages worked and tipped him way, way too low. In America you'd get such a nasty stare, but he dapped me up and told me he'd see me next time like nothing was wrong. For being such a difficult customer they gave me such an amazing cut. Fantastic experience: I was in Montreal for work and I make it a habit to get my haircut when visiting a new city. I had a last minute cancellation so called for a quick haircut. Jonny was super accommodating and made time for me. I asked for length on top and shorter sides to let Jonny have flexibility with his expertise. It did not disappoint. This was one of the best haircuts I have had and I recieved complements for over a week. Jonny is a gentlemen and the shop looked amazing.
