Negative experience: I had the worst haircut experience ever. I agreed to a student haircut thinking it would be a simple trial, but it turned out to be a complete disaster. The haircut was uneven, poorly blended, and nothing close to what I asked for. I understand students are learning, but there should be proper supervision and guidance. I left feeling extremely disappointed and honestly embarrassed to go out with this hair. This was truly my worst salon experience.

Fantastic experience: Really happy with my haircut from Sorush. I asked for a taper with a mullet in the back and he did exactly what I wanted. The taper is clean, the back came out great, and everything blends well. He took his time and paid attention to the details. Definitely recommend and I’ll be back.

Fantastic experience: First time here and I had a great experience. Had a cut with Kav who was excellent, very professional and a down to earth guy. I had a vision of what i wanted for a cut and went above and beyond what i wanted.

He was patient, diligent and was ready to answer my questions. He made me feel comfortable. I would definitely recommend this Barbershop to anyone looking a barber. Negative experience: I’ve been cutting my hair at this shop for over 3 years. Ali always provided amazing service, respected appointment times, and did his best every visit. Lately, Ali has been very busy, and I also have a busy schedule, so for the past year I started cutting my hair with JT. Today, I booked an appointment, and while he was already in the middle of cutting my hair, he said that I didn’t book for both hair and beard. This makes no sense, as I’ve always had my hair and beard cut together—never just the beard alone. Instead of resolving the issue professionally, he started asking other barbers if they could finish my beard. I found this extremely disrespectful and unprofessional. Because of this, I had no choice but to leave the shop. On top of that, the haircut itself was very poorly done, and the shop has been noticeably dirty lately. Never again. I do not recommend this shop to anyone.

Positive experience: It's an expensive barber shop, well equipped and appointed but the services the same as elsewhere. You get your hair cut, period.

Negative experience: I recently moved to area and have a job interview coming up. So I searched local barber shops and found Sheer Brilliance. My expirence started off with a good greeting from a nice lady who could get me in same day in an hour. I came back a couple minutes before my appointment was supposed to start. The guy behind the desk tried to shout across the room for the barber, who didn't hear him but still caused every one to pause and look up interrupting their own experience. Rather than getting up from his chair and walking back. The guy comes over and takes me back. I didn't get his name but he must be newer to this. He takes me back to a chair that still has hair on it and hair all over the floor. I know he doesn't sweep because there blonde, brunette, black hair. Your station has got be presentable you got own that space. He asks what I want which is 3 on the sides trim the split ends on top. He sprays and this is how I know he doesn't have much expirence because rather than sectioning off the top and starting with the sides to blend in after he immediately goes to the top. Brings the clippers out does the sides but has me tilting my head towards him rather than pumping the chair up so he can get a better eye level. He checked his phone at least 3 times during the process and to end it off he took the back up farther than the natural hair neckline. Once it was all said and done, my smock is still covered in hair especially on the shoulders (he didn't brush off during the cut) this guy opens the smok and takes the towel out which causes cut hair to fall down my shirt. I did go home and shower just to find out it's not even. I get it we all got to start somewhere but for $50 (included a tip because I was once a young Barber starting out) and this to be my expirence. Being a barber is all about creating an expirence and this was just bad. Seems like a good place maybe the kid just needs more training. Edit: The barber that cut my hair did call me personally a few hours after they closed (called me at 8:40 pm) He kept saying he wasn't making excuses and then proceeded to make excuses. I tried to get through and hopefully he takes my constructive criticism to improve. Looking forward to seeing what happens

Consistency is key, and he delivers it everytime. Been to him 4 times now and he’s proven himself to be the best barber ive been to. Gives amazing cuts especially his fades are always precise. Despite still learning, his focus and attention to detail were really impressive. He took his time to make sure the cut was right, listened carefully to what I wanted, and was very professional throughout the service. The result was genuinely a clean, sharp cut! Sorush is clearly dedicated and has a lot of potential. I highly recommend giving him a try, especially if you appreciate someone who is thorough and committed to doing great work.

Negative experience: My son went to TJ a barber that reassured me he could do curly hair and cut off my son’s hair. He grew his hair for 2 years and instantly cut the side so short. Told him to stop and he said it would look bad if he didn’t match the other side. His hair was at it neck all one length now this guy TJ cut it all different lengths. My son cried and he said don’t crash out. Who says that to a child. Horrible barber I’ve used other barbers there for years and never had this happen. Almost like he did this to be evil. I will never go there again. They couldn’t offer me free hair cuts for life and I’d ever go there again

A lot of barbers aren’t really able to do the cut I ask for because it’s a bit tricky but he did it perfectly. Really great customer service and a true master in his craft. I just moved to Oshawa from London for school and I definitely found my new barber for my second home!

Negative experience: “Senior” Barber Jeff didn’t give me a haircut, he gave me a brilliant sculpture of confusion which is held together by hope and a lot of dry shampoo. Jeff from Shear Brilliance Oshawa took the phrase "I’ll just trim the edges" way too literally, and ended up creating a mashup of chaos on my head where One side is trying to be a sleek bob, while the other side is clearly on its own spiritual journey to become a 'curious mullet'. The back? Let’s just say half of it looks like it got into a scuffle with a lawnmower, while the other half is stuck in a 'maybe I’m going for the messy-chic look' denial phase. Jeff rushed me through my $50 haircut and made me experience the world of bad haircuts at the speed of bad decisions.

Fantastic experience: Shear Brilliance is a great place to get a haircut, especially if you are into tapers and fades. The store is chill and vibrant. Fantastic experience: I have been going to this salon for a few months now and there is no other place that I would trust with my hair than others these guys. When you enter their establishment, it shows they know what they are doing. My go to barber is Jasen. He knows how to really cut hair even African hair which surprised me. He has been amazing with me and I hope to cut my hair there more. 10 stars if I could.

Negative experience: I went in with my son to get haircuts from Jeff, expecting something decent for the outrageous $100 he ended up charging us. What we got instead was a mess — literally. He completely ignored key details we specifically asked for and butchered both of our haircuts. My beard? Barely touched, uneven, and poorly lined up. My son's cut looked rushed and sloppy. When I questioned the price, Jeff brushed it off by calling himself a “senior” barber, as if that justified the cost — or the terrible service. At that rate, you'd expect precision, attention to detail, and at least a result that makes you feel confident walking out. Instead, we left disappointed and overcharged. Would not recommend. Save your time and your money. #overpricedamateur

Fantastic experience: I went to Fernando not really knowing what to do with my curly hair. It was getting hard to manage and I felt stuck with the same look. He took the time to look at my head shape and suggested a taper with a curly mullet. I never would’ve thought of that, but it ended up being exactly what I needed. He didn’t just give me the cut and call it a day. He used curl products to bring out the definition and even diffused my hair to style it properly. The whole experience felt thoughtful and personalized. I left the shop feeling confident and actually excited about my hair for once.

Fantastic experience: I got a haircut by Kav. Sick cut. Really nice guy. Really nice job. I recommend him. The shop in general is great. As well as all the barbers. Best shop in Durham. Top notch.
