Fantastic experience: Passing through for work and stopped in for a cut. Glad I did, Callum was great, knowledgeable and passionate about his craft. Took the time to style my cut to my head shape and was very easy to talk too. Great spot and a great lad.

Negative experience: Waited nearly 2 hours to get a haircut. I ask for a certain Barber and was told that there was only one customer in front of me watched the gentleman in front of me, get his haircut as they were finishing up I thought oh good I'm up next only for him to grab someone else that had only been there for 20 minutes what a complete waste of time

Negative experience: Watched us sit and wait for half hour before acknowledging us and then telling us there wouldn't be time for a haircut.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to gentleman jones for about 5 - 6 weeks and as far as barbershops go it’s a great all rounder. When you get in, and there’s a wait, you have the option of having a drink, chilling on the couch and reading a book, card games, chess and pool. The theme and aesthetic they’ve gone with is “the ultimate gentleman’s man cave” and it lives up to it. Usually a different genre of music everytime you go in and the staff are pretty friendly and awesome to deal with. You can get a decent cut from any chair but I usually see Alex, while he doesn’t speak too much as he’s introverted and English is like his 6th or 7th language, but after the pleasantries when he goes silent it’s because he’s giving you one helluva fade. He’s able to work with any texture of hair from what I’ve observed and can tell you how long your cut will stay fresh for kinda like a doctor prescribing medication to help your health, he helps your style. It’s been a pretty good experience thus far and they have a decent loyalty program too.

Negative experience: great coffee but 5years ago I use to come here and it was the best place to go, they were artists with beards and hair but now it was a horrible experience when it came to hair and beard didn't listen when I said I wanted sides short and length on top left, kept leaving bits I said I didn't want as I know my hair when it's dry and now left with uneven hair on top. beard I said wanted a tidy up but leave the length and do not touch the mo. 3 quarters of the beard and sides gone and one half of the moustache cut which put the nail in the coffin. they did offer to get another barber to fix it and didnt charge me for the massacre of the beard however but you can't glue the hair back on. outcome- going to big w to get clippers and do it myself. also music was a horrible choice for what ambience gentleman Jones used to have and definitely not worth the 2.5hour drive like it used to be.

Fantastic experience: Alex is incredibly skilled. Brings a level of focus and intent rarely seen. Clean and tidy. Large space. Comfortable seating. 4 chairs running simultaneously can make things a little loud; heads up for special needs or kids. Definitely recommend.

Fantastic experience: Upon arriving in Townsville, I stumbled upon this amazing salon and had the best experience. As soon as I walked in, I was treated to a delicious coffee and my stylist, Alex from Uganda, did an incredible job with my hair. His 13 years of experience truly shined through, and the shop's vintage decor created a cozy atmosphere. I highly recommend this salon for anyone looking for a top-notch haircut and a wonderful overall experience!

Negative experience: Been coming here for 4 years, and it used to be the place to be for a reliable haircut. Unfortunately, place is up and down with being understaffed. Was told there’d be a wait time of approximately 30min. 1 hour in and was still waiting so had to leave. (Had come 3 times the week before and was told there’d be a 1 hour wait. This is fair enough because I was given transparency on the wait time at the start so I simply left)

Negative experience: Very disappointing, arrived at the start of my lunch hour with only two people in front of me and 4 barbers cutting. After waiting 45min I asked if it would be much longer and was told it's now the barbers lunch time and they couldn't even give me a time frame. So I had no choice but to go back to work without a fresh cut. Definitely need to communicate with your customers about extremely long wait times.

Negative experience: Once the pinnacle of barber customer service in Townsville, it’s now slid down the ladder. After a 1hr 45 min wait today I had to give up. Two barbers on duty, but they only managed to clear three customers while I was there. There was a constant 3 people waiting and I saw another 4 potential customers check availability then leave because the wait was going to be too long. Either roster more barbers to work the other empty chairs to accomodate the original walk-in vibe or start offering an appointment service. This is not a one off incident, it’s been my experience the last few visits.

Fantastic experience: I accidentally happened to go here due to unhappy customer service from my previous barber. This gentleman here is the best I would say. He doesn't work just because he has to do it but because he is passionate about it. So much of patience , so much of experience, gives enough time for you to have a complete satisfaction. The ambience is a cherry on the cake where you won't get bored sitting, instead can grab a drink or play a game of pool.

Positive experience: Great Atmosphere, great beard trim, however, I was slightly disappointed with the service..I was barely in a seat with my whiskey when I was summoned to the chair to be given my trim with a rushed attitude by a young man whom did not make any conversation, did not listen to my request for a more rounded beard, instead giving me a squared shape. He was not dressed the part and I was out the door before I could have the experience of being pampered .

Negative experience: Long wait times, no reservations, and apparently it was too much effort to give me a call when my name was approaching the top of the list. Bloke said "obviously you haven't been here before." He was correct and I won't be going back.
