Fantastic experience: Brinna is amazing with doing a pixie cut, she takes her time and I love that she makes it feminine, where I’ve had it look like a boy cut by other people. Front desk customer service is always amazing and really take care of you.

I go to Jessica who is always super warm and inviting and gives me THE BEST fades I’ve had. She goes the extra mile to make sure I’m happy with the cut and listens to my preferences. I Highly recommend her and Shorty’s if you’re looking for a quality experience.

Positive experience: GOOD STAFF/HIDDEN FEES . . . Some good stylists here and decent prices, but some issues with transparency regarding actual costs. There is a 3% surcharge on DEBIT CARDS as well as credit cards, even though this is not disclosed. In fact, I was told the opposite, and the signs say that the charge only applies to credit cards. I paid with debit and got stuck with it anyway. But they don’t give you a receipt at the end so you only have two seconds to notice it as it flashes across the screen, and I happened to catch it. This needs to be improved, and it needs to be spelled out upfront that DEBIT CARDS incur a 3% extra charge. Basically, the only way to come here and not spend extra money for your haircut or services is by bringing a wad of cash.

Her cuts are sharp, consistent, and she listens to what you want. She offers good suggestions, too, and the shop has a warm and laid-back vibe. I have walked out feeling like I found the right spot. Fantastic experience: In general, Shorty’s has a great atmosphere—welcoming and laid-back without feeling stuffy or overly complicated, which is exactly what I look for in a barbershop. I prefer a space that’s pleasant and relaxed, and Shorty’s strikes that balance really well. As for the stylist I go to, her name is Jessica, she’s been cutting my hair for over 10 years. She’s extremely detail-oriented and truly skilled, especially when it comes to scissor work—which is becoming harder to find these days. If you’re looking for a high-quality cut (whether it’s a traditional scissor cut or a fade), she’s definitely someone I’d recommend.

Fantastic experience: We love, Christina! She is so great not just as someone who cuts my teenage son’s hair, but as a human!! She fully engages and has the best conversations. I think we have seen her now for two years, following when another stylist at Shorty’s retired highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Probably the best barber shop in the area. It’s a very welcoming environment. Amazing barbers, whom are very knowledgeable, patient, and always understand your needs. The shop is very well maintained and has an excellent staff. I had one bad experience but the overall quality in haircuts made up for that experience. I do recommend getting an appointment as they are busy most days.

I love that the staff have an opinion and advice and engage in creating a look with you including sticking with you on your journey over months and years and trying new things together. And yesterday just inspired me when they went above and beyond: when I was really sick I lost track of time and missed my appointment and the staff were on it straight away but were so pleasant and helpful and friendly and just wanted to make sure I was rescheduled asap before the weekend madness. Truly, that call could have either made or broken my day and most places would not have reacted that way and would have broken me and made a fragile person feel worse, but this just made a happy regular customer into a Brand Ambassador! 3 cheers and 5++ STARS for Shorty's!!!! hooray!

Fantastic experience: CHRISTINA IS AMAZING I have been going to Shorty's every month or so for the past 5 years. It's a great environment with really nice professionals and amazing service. Christina is absolutely fantastic! She really knows how to make your hair look good and proportional. If you are open, she will give advice, and believe me, you want advice from her on how to get the best results on your haircut. We chat, catch up on what's going on, and when you least expect, you are a completely new person. Time flies when Christina is cutting my hair, and it always brings me joy to talk to her. I absolutely recommend Shorty's and Christina B. if you are looking for an experience beyond a simple haircut!

Negative experience: "I recently had a very disappointing experience with this lady Unfortunately I can’t remember her full name but starts with “J”, the interaction was extremely negative, lack of communication, unprofessional behavior, and cursing while on the phone. I would not recommend this service based on my experience since she works there

Negative experience: *Taking inventory is more important then actually helping customers. * Extremely bad and rude service experience. I came to pickup hair product and after a phone call front attendant came to step in front of me with his clipboard. I asked if I was in his way he said "no" and continued to take inventory. I said, ok well I don't need any help or anything and he smiled, giggled and went back to his inventory sheet. Unreal. I am very disappointed and will NEVER be going back.

Positive experience: I got a beard trim here last week, it was my first time going. It was nice that they were able to accommodate me on short notice, I called ahead and they paired me with a barber. There are a lot of chairs which is convenient.

Fantastic experience: This was my first time trying Shorty’s. I booked a trim with a random stylist and it seemed like she struggled to match my reference photos (which were all of me and past haircuts). I tried to get her to fix it during the cut but it wasn’t happening. She went too short in some areas and I had to remind her more than once not to continue cutting in those same areas. I was resigned to living with a different cut but when I got home I noticed how uneven and unblended it was. I called the shop, explained the situation, and they booked me in a couple hours later for a recovery cut with someone else. Stephanie was the new stylist and she was fantastic. She was easily able to do what I asked for and I left the second time feeling relieved and happy. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone, and I appreciate how responsive the shop was to the whole situation.

After trying many places, I finally found my go-to with her—she's the only person I trust to cut my hair. Jackie is pure goodness, and I walk out feeling like a million bucks every time! If you want the best, book her!

Fantastic experience: I'm a woman, and this is the first barbershop I've visited. As such, I initially felt awkward and out of place, but the front desk person was welcoming and made me feel more comfortable. I was going through some stuff and acted on the impulse to cut my own hair into a pixie cut. Now I needed someone to fix it. I felt horrible about it, but Dee Dee was very kind and reassuring. She was able to salvage the mess, despite me cutting some of the chunks way too short. Months later, my hair still looks good. I have never been able to go so long without getting a haircut while having short hair before. Not only did she fix my mistake, she also sculpted my hair into something that would grow out wonderfully. I highly recommend that other women go to her for a pixie cut. Not only is she very skilled, but she is also a lovely person. Plus, I don't think you can beat the price for the quality of cut.

Negative experience: The worst haircut ever. I’m travelling and walked in, asked for a skin fade and the guy has absolutely ruined my hair. I asked for nothing off the top and he took half an inch. I specifically explained how I like to keep the front long as I wear my fringe forward and messy, and he’s absolutely butchered the fringe. They charge $50 for this when they shouldn’t charge anything more than $5. The guy clearly had never done this type of haircut before. I showed him pictures of a guy previous haircut (attached) and this was the results.

Negative experience: I had an appointment for 6:30. I arrived at 6:15 for my appointment. Then, I heard the male receptionist call another patron to tell him he was next with the lady I booked my appt. Then, he called me an offered a hair cut with somebody else. When I asked the reason for not honoring my appt., he was dismissive in a weird dismissive manner. So unprofessional. I did get a hair cut in another barbershop. It was not only a cheaper but the workers were so nice and polite.

Fantastic experience: Been coming here for years and the people are always very nice and welcoming. If you’re looking for a new barber I definitely recommend giving this place a try and in particular, Gilbert is the best!

Fantastic experience: I recently moved from the Pasadena area. As much as I loved my barber out there, I had to find someone closer to Weho. After a few bad cuts, I got a cut from Earl and he’s been my barber ever since. Super nice, knowledgeable, and experienced. Great spot.

Negative experience: Had a very bad experience here.. The staff here are UNPROFESSIONAL! I could not find the regular hair stylist I get my hair cut with. They seem to fire staff often, so you never know who’s going to be cutting your hair.. Also what’s with the rude attitude! I wonder why the staff are unhappy and leaving, maybe because so are your customers. Please look elsewhere!

Negative experience: Unfortunately, This business focuses on profit and not Customers… Being 10 minutes late will result in your appointment being canceled. The front desk staff are rude and so is the owner, I would not recommend coming here all they care about is profit.

Positive experience: I just called to ask about men's haircut pricing and was given the info I wanted (didn't need a stylist for a buzz cut) but was told that I needed an appointment and when I came in I would have to set up a profile and blah blah blah. OMG a profile and create an account too? It's too much trouble; just wanted a quick haircut.

Negative experience: Was told outright by the female elite stylist with type 3 (nonstraight hair) that she does not cut my "hair type", who then proceeded to walk away without any type of apology or even look at me, and cut white mens hair (her clients). The receptionist and stylist who DID cut my hair did a great job (I believe his name was Kioni) taking care of me and getting my hair cut with excellent service, but unfortunately I don't feel compelled to give a higher rating because the salon decides to employ stylists who are allegedly deciding to cut certain types of hair and dismiss any clients who do not fit that mold. If you have a hair type that is anything but straight, consider taking your business where the stylists don't discriminate against you and actually utilize the training that is mandated as part of their cosmetology license. EDIT: Reading other reviews seems to validate this isn't an isolated instance and ELITE hairstylists at this salon are promoting alleged discrimination based on hair type despite their cosmetology license requiring training for hair basics. I can only imagine that there is a larger spread issue at this salon on this topic.

Fantastic experience: I've been going to Shorty's for over a decade because I love the experience. I moved out of west Hollywood a few years ago but I still make the drive every five weeks so Christina can cut my hair. It's notoriously hard to cut but Christina has it down to a science. She's also fun to talk to. I belly-laugh at least once a session. Easy on-line appointments, cool part of town. Never disappointed.

Fantastic experience: Love Shorty’s - been coming here for 15 years. Christina is my go-to. She’s fantastic and I’ll often adjust my schedule to make sure I can get an appointment when she’s working. Christina is a great listener and always executes what I’m asking for - even when I don’t know the right language to describe what I want, Christina asks the right questions to make sure she’s giving me the cut I want. Not only is she a talented hairstylist, she’s also a skilled barber - so my beard and mustache are always looking great as well. Shorty’s has a lot of skilled staff, but track down Christina for a top-notch experience.

Negative experience: After arriving 11 minutes late to my appointment, (after calling and letting them know I’d be late and told there is a 10 minute grace period.. which most places are 15 minutes.. but okay?) I arrive to be told I can’t be seen and that my appointment is canceled. Have you ever been to a business and been declined service after being 1 minute late past the grace period to an appointment? After driving 30 minutes? The front desk lady continued to repeat, “you’re 11 minutes late to a 30 minute appointment” MISS, it’s a haircut. Ridiculous. Save your time and go elsewhere because customer service is non existent here.

Fantastic experience: Gio knew his stuff and was attentive to how I wanted my do done. Never a bad time at Shorty’s

Negative experience: My husband was excited to try this place out as we saw that it had good reviews until we experienced how insanely quick the haircut was. He typically has experienced sessions that would take 30 minutes if not longer but this time it was done in 10 minutes (probably under) + a hair wash! I felt like the hairdresser rushed through it to get to his next appointment. Not only did he rushed, but the haircut wasn’t as even it should’ve been, especially since it was a $60+ haircut. If a haircut is going to be cost over $50, I’d assume that the hairdressers would take more time to consult with their clients and make sure they have the best experience, no matter the haircut. The experience felt like a Supercuts and so therefore we more than likely won’t return. Only giving it a second star because the place was actually clean, but that’s about it.

Fantastic experience: Michelle at the check-in desk is a SUPERHERO at keeping the trains running on time. Gio and Wolfgang are world class stylists. Everyone on the Shorty’s team makes the entire process effortless.
