Fantastic experience: Jonathan is great! I ask for different trims every time I come in for a beard shaping and he has nailed it every time... I have been to other places for a beard trim that have cost triple and haven't been as done as well as it's done with Johnathan at Jimmy's. Also great vibe to the place.

Negative experience: So i got a haircut here and the guy I got did a bad job. I come in for a walk-in cut and they said no problem we can take care of you. I should have know to get out of there as soon as they tried sitting me down in a chair that still had someone else's HAIR on it. Mind you, the place was empty when i went in there so they just didn't clean up after whoever got that cut. My guy apologized and blow drys the hair off the chair. I then tell him i want to cut the dyed part of my hair off. He tells me its basically an 8 and asks me if that sounds good, I say yea. I dont know too much about hair but apparently he should have done scissors over comb method instead of just straight buzzing my hair off. He continues onto the sides and I asked for a taper. At the end of the cut, he gave me the mirror and asked if I had any feedback. The whole time Im thinking, theres no way this man ran a #8 over the top of my head and a non-existent taper. I had to guide him to not only blend the taper in a bit more, but to also finish the top because all he did was run an 8. I also told him to line up the back cause it looked off and he said that it was just my head. He also didn't clean my face off at all. Had to go into the restroom at Costco to clean myself up. To top it off I didn't receive the complimentary wash AND they charged me for a short cut ... If you google what an 8 is, its says buzz cut if you dont have a go-to barber here be careful cause they might just hand you off to someone who doesn't know how to cut. Homie didn't even get my sideburns. *Photos are only a day after*

Fantastic experience: I’ve had my hair cut here for three years. It was always worth the drive from Davis to go here (in my opinion). I ended up with Finn as my regular stylist but I had a few different people cut my hair and they all did a good job. They’re professionals with good chit chat and a good hair cut. I felt very comfortable here as an LGBT person in particular. The prices are a little high. But I considered it worth it for a good hair cut experience.

Fantastic experience: I arrived as a drop in without a reservation on a Monday and was able to get in within 15 minutes. The little pug, Hazy, was playing with toys and snuffling all over the place—apparently if your dog is chill, you can bring ‘em in! Adam was fun and friendly, and talked good story. He helped a brother out and trimmed up this guy’s thinning hair. Hah, he tells me, “I’ve told folks they should go with a ‘Bruce Willis’ but you ain’t there yet, far from it”! He even trimmed up the edges of the bear and neckline with his razor. All this for $40 (plus tip)? I’m impressed!

Negative experience: I booked a haircut at Jimmys and was assigned a slot with Greg. It was easily the worst, most low effort haircut I’ve ever received. Before we had even sat down, Greg was talking nonstop about how busy he was with this job, bartending and host of other roles. Despite my lack of interest, he talked about his podcast and band the entire time. He showed absolutely zero interest in my haircut. I suppose he figured he could get it done by asking a single question about what I wanted. His lack of interest manifested in running clippers on the sides of my head, briefly using scissors but not cutting my bangs, cowlick or part at all. Seven minutes after I sat down, he held up a mirror to ask if I wanted anything else. Yes, I wanted a haircut… I’m decided to elect to trust my appearance and spend my money with someone who cares about the task at hand. I recommend you do the same.

Fantastic experience: Greg is awesome, I mixed up my schedule and completely missed my appointment window, but he still accommodated me when he didn't have to. I've had my hair cut by him before and I'm always satisfied when I leave. Everybody is always extremely polite and professional. I will keep coming here for the foreseeable future.

Negative experience: I feel they missed the mark on the details of my haircut. Poor blending on the sides which I wasn’t able to notice until I got home. Barber I had seemed inexperienced from the way he handled clippers and scissors compared to other places I’ve been. He was very nice and personable though.

Fantastic experience: I dont know where to start. The experience was perfect. I pulled up on a rather bustling Saturday even- the streets were filled. Miraculously, there was one single spot that you could parallel park into - right infront of the shop. Immediately, upon parking Br(i/y)ce welcomed me in with a beverage of my choice and an Icepop (level of service I was receiving before I even entered!). Upon sitting down Specer, checked me in within a matter of seconds- made me crackle with their sense of humor and preceded to converse with Br(y/i)cr and I as if we were friends who hadn't seen eachother in a while. Adam, who was working with a different client finished up- and proceeded to interact and talk with us as he cleaned up from the last haircut. The haircut started on-time. A charming, funny, and interesting group of people- I was ready to move to San Diego (inside joke for Adam) after how well my hair was cut and how good I was feeling- 8/5 stars. 5/5 for the service 3/0 for the people. Will be here again

Fantastic experience: I booked an appointment with Mahriya for a haircut and some fun color. The place is cool, everyone I spoke with was super nice, and I enjoyed the complimentary beer. Mahriya is wonderful! She took time and really made sure to understand what I wanted, even if I wasn't exactly sure myself. I am happy with both the haircut and the colors. I'll definitely be back when I am ready to switch it up.

Fantastic experience: Got a beer and a pretty decent fade at a reasonable price, The dude that cut my hair was a cool character and definitely made the experience chill and entertaining.

Positive experience: I just moved to the area a couple of weeks ago and saw that this place had good reviews and I needed a haircut. I made an appointment. An adult beverage was offered as soon as I walked in which I declined and the appointment started on time. A haircut for me usually takes no longer than 10, 15 minutes pushing it. The cut took about 40 minutes. It was uncomfortably warm in the barber shop. A Short Cut costs $40 and the website states that it includes a complimentary beverage a wash. My hair was not washed and no attempt was made to style it in any way, no gel, hairspray etc. Despite everything, I chose not to say anything and paid the $40 and even included a 20% tip but they have lost my business. To give them 3 stars is really pushing it too.

Negative experience: Made an appointment two days before. I got many appointment reminders and then get canceled 10 min before my apt. I asked if they had any other openings and the soonest they could get me in was 1 pm. Had to end up going to Supercuts, because I had a wedding later in the day. Would not recommend this place! Not accommodating at all!

Fantastic experience: I booked with Sara on a whim after hearing good things about this place from a friend, but really didn't know what to expect otherwise. I need a low maintenance hairstyle and have struggled to find somebody who understands that over the years. I'm also just very awkward but Sara made me feel really comfortable, the whole experience was super chill! She also totally understood what I was requesting for my haircut, and did an amazing job. Negative experience: This place is a disaster!! Started off the dude who gave me a haircut was smoking a cigarette and didn't even wash his hands!! He also said he he loved to do razor blades on people's heads but he didn't do a very good job. I still had stubble on my head. I could do better with a razor for your face! He lined up my beard but my beard was crooked. Didn't see it at the time because I didn't have my glasses on that. When I got home I noticed it! This place is just a hipster Barber shop that doesn't care about it's customer base. They treated as a local hangout spot for their friends! If you are 40 and up I would not recommend this place. This is a total gen Z Hangout!! Just a straight trash barber shop!

Negative experience: I had a horrble experience here. The barber was high as a kite and barley took 10 minutes cutting my hair. He kept talking about himself and cursing, he sounded like a stoned idiot. He cut my sides uneven and did not pay attention to detail. It was so bad that I had to fix it up myself when i got home. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!

Negative experience: Most of the hairstylists here are decent. However I felt the equipment they use is either not properly maintained or replaced at regular intervals. They absolutely butchered my neck with shifty clippers. If you are charging 50$ for a haircut atleast buy some decent clippers!

Ryan was very kind, listened carefully and asked thoughtful questions about what I was looking for—and then went and gave me exactly what I wanted. Fade + cut were both EXCELLENT. Atmosphere was very calm and welcoming, shop is very queer friendly.

Negative experience: Very bad hair cut. I explained what kind of cut (2 1/2 high taper). What my son got was an uneven bowl cut. Zero blend. I sent my son back to barber twice in hope the barber would make it look better but the barber only made it look worse. The barber turns around and asks me if I liked it I said no and tells me that people interpret the cut names differently. I was so infuriated as we had a vacation planned the next morning, went to go pay and the barber tells the cashier to add a note that said “miscommunication” Absurd ! I let the barber know exactly what I wanted but clearly, skills were not there. Any folks out there ….. just make sure the barber feels comfortable with your request or expect the worse.

Negative experience: Made an appointment 3 days ahead of time for 9:00am. I left home early to make the 20min drive and give myself time to find parking since their website makes a big deal about not being late. I arrive and park ~20min before my appointment and start to head inside. On my way to the door (15min before my appointment) I get a voicemail saying that my stylist is “out and won’t be here today” and they have no openings for the rest of the day but can reschedule me for the following day (Monday). It’s odd how they make such a big deal about THEIR time on the website “5 minutes late we may not have time for a wash, 9 minutes late we wont have time for your haircut and will have to reschedule you.” Yet when it comes to MY time, they can pull the rug out last minute. For a business preaching not to be late, the last minute cancellation is a bit hypocritical.

Positive experience: Great place for a cut if you're in the Midtown area. I've been seen 3 times here by 3 different barbers, and each cut gets better. I especially appreciate the complimentary beverage selection (including alcoholic choices). I'd recommend Ryan - friendly and obviously knows what he's doing. I will be definitely be going back.

Fantastic experience: I've been going to Jimmy's for a couple of years now - and I actually go to Jimmy's #2 where Sara works. The staff are always welcoming and kind. I can't recommend Sara any higher. She knows what she's doing and has a knack for several different hair styles. (I am a man and my daughter goes to her as well - Sara is equally good with both men's and women's styles.) I'm in-between short and medium length hair and the price was $35 + tip. Very reasonable for the quality of the cut. I recommend Jimmy's in general and Sara specifically. Take care!

Fantastic experience: Great place for people of any age to get their haircut! All of the employees have a wealth of experience with a wide variety of styles, and are extremely nice to talk to while you are getting your hair done while still maintaining their quality of work. If you do not want to talk, they respect that as well and will only ask your opinions on your hair. I've tried out several different barbers at this place and although I prefer Chyanna's work, if she is not available and I needed a cut ASAP, I can trust any other of the others to get it done right! The interior design is very bright and open (the garage doors actually lift and open up on nice days) with a great ambience. They do offer refreshments while you wait, and pretty up-to-date reading on the table as well. They also have a small selection of children's toys too! Attached to the garage is Jimmy's 2, which is an area where the barbers/cosmetologists that have built a following at Jimmy's 1 can rent out a chair and try to run their own business! Gotta love seeing businesses helping grow other businesses!

Negative experience: Booked an appointment on Friday morning for a haircut on Saturday at 11:30. Left my house at 10:50 for the 30 min drive. I got a call from someone from Jimmy's Barber Garage at 11:15 when I was almost there letting me know that the stylist wasn't available. The person on the phone said they could get me in at 2:30! What kind of business does this? Not only did they cancel my appointment 15 mins before, but the phone call ended with the person saying "have a better day". Who says that? I've had positive experiences before at Jimmy's Barber Garage. And I love Nicky, the stylist that cut my hair last, but I won't be back here.

Negative experience: Been coming here to see Greg for over a year and have been more than pleased with my experience with him and the cut I leave with, I can't recommend him enough!! Unfortunately, and at no fault to the stylists, this shop is the worst in terms of location and customer service. Can't book more than 24 hours ahead of time, and if you're 9 min late they cancel you. They're located in one of the busiest areas of downtown Sac, so parking can be a hassle, making that 9 min mark a tough one to hit. In the last year I've never had an issue. But last Saturday, I had an appointment with Alexis, and it finally happened. Leaving from Folsom I got stuck at a broken light that set me to be 10 minutes late. I had my partner call ahead of time to give them a heads up and he was met with the rudest woman at the front desk telling him that it was unacceptable and we had to be there no later than 9 minutes after the appointment time (I felt horrible because he already has anxiety on the phone just to have an awful interaction with this person who thought he was me. Regardless of policy, there's no reason not to be kind about it). I rushed all the way from Folsom and managed to get there in time to find a spot, PAID for parking and called them as I was leaving the car, letting them know I was a block away and walking up. Same rude woman told me that I was too late (it was exactly 9 minutes after the appointment time when I called). When I apologized and tried to explain my situation - literally walking up to their door - she told me that I could come back later if they had a cancellation. Zero compassion and didn't seem to understand the hardship it would cause to drive all the way to and from Folsom again for a short clipper cut that would take far less than my full appointment time anyways. Waste of gas and time, and a horrible tank on our mental health. I'll find somewhere else to go.

Fantastic experience: I have had some hit and miss haircuts from here depending on who's cutting my hair. Alexa has really turned my opinion around and I am happy to come back each time.

Negative experience: This barbershop is in the worst location. On average it takes about 30 minutes to find parking causing you to be late for your appointment. This is the second time they turned me away due to the parking issue. If you don't live within walking distance stay far, far, far, away from this establishment. You will just end up frustrated and disappointed.

Positive experience: The atmosphere is great. Customer service is top quality. Their barbers need better training with their straight razors

Positive experience: You can get in quick. I used to come here alot but for some reason the quality of cuts have slowly declined. I just went there cause my actual barber was booked somewhere else and the fade they gave me was terrible. One side was higher than the other. Cool atmosphere though. I just don't feel like the passion is there as much as it was a few years ago

Fantastic experience: Had a cut with Jacob on a Sunday evening. It was nice and slow in the shop with great vibes. Jacob was awesome and helped me feel comfortable with every step by doing check-ins and letting me know what the next step would be (if I wanted). He was awesome and my cut came out PERFECT!!! I'm definitely going to be a regular and look forward great monthly cuts and convos with Jacob.

Fantastic experience: Travis did an amazing job cutting my long wavy thick hair. He worked with me to figure out exactly what I wanted, and listened to me the whole time. I highly recommend him and this shop!

Fantastic experience: 5 stars for Mel. She's the best stylist I've ever had. Most barbers just ask then cut. From day one Mel has had a plan for my hair and has executed that plan. She has recommendations for me regarding my hair care, thins out my thick hair in the summer, and even trims my squirrely eyebrows... I mean, who does that?! She goes completely above and beyond.

Fantastic experience: Love my stylist ~ Mahriya!!!! This picture was the before......and picture number #2 is the after. She always listens to what I want in my hair (it's actually my signature for my real estate clients - normally I wear it as faux hawk). This latest cut has allowed my hair to lay better curly or spikey. Love it!

Negative experience: $33 for a wash, cut, and shave. First, he asked how I style my hair. I said I part it, but he decided on his own that I should have a comb over instead. The barber seemed very disappointed that I said yes when he asked if I wanted a wash. And equally disappointed when I said that I would also like a shave. He asked if I wanted product, to which I declined, so he finished without combing my hair. As I sat there trying to look presentable to walk out by using my fingers to comb my new combover, he sighed and said "whenever you're ready I can ring you up." $33 to be treated like a burden and get a bad haircut.

Fantastic experience: Called and made appointments for my 3 boys. Finally found a place we liked and who listened to what I wanted for their hair. Will be returning. Also found a stylist we will continue to book with!

Positive experience: Mariano cut my hair and it turned out good. I definitely will be coming back and booking her again !

Negative experience: Lots of good experiences at Jimmy’s over the years but the last three have been terrible. We were grossly overcharged for kids’ cuts ($50 for one - a 20 minute service; $28, as expected, for the other - 15 minutes). Neither featured wash or dry, neither resulted in the actual styles requested. The stylist was cold, bordering on hostile. The prior two experiences were similar, though the stylists were at least kind. Lesson learned. We’re done with Jimmy’s.

Jimmy J's Barber garage has shown resilience, compassion, and up-most respect for me during rescheduling or fitting me in for a cut. Teisha has always made me laugh and provided quick-witted conversations over the phone and in-person. Marina has given the her time and attention for being a returning client as well as being extra friendly to. Jules has been the best stylist anyone can ask for from the trim, cut, and all around care she give for providing a hair cut. Five Star Barbershop all around!

Positive experience: I come here to get my haircut and it’s hit or miss. If you find a good stylist here, stick with them. Today I was supposed to see Finn, but due to a mix up, I was instead taken back by Jules. Jules seemed annoyed just having to take an appointment that wasn’t hers and throughout the appointment was very rude. Making snide comments and nearly knicked my ear, then telling me that she didn’t want to be held responsible if she cut me. Made some weird comments about “my people”. Overall, the cut was decent, but she was unpleasant.

Fantastic experience: Great set of barbers working out of this cool space. I always get a good cut even if it is a little pricey. They also have beer for while you wait. Appointments are kind of difficult to get sometimes because they only open them up 24hrs in advance.

Fantastic experience: I'm a big fan of Jimmy's Barber Garage - friendly staff, fair prices, and an impeccable cut. I see Tracy every time I go in. I'd follow her anywhere; she's top notch! Definitely check them out.

Fantastic experience: I had Tracy T. She is probably one of the best humans I've ever met....not to mention she cuts hair, she does a damn good job at that.

Positive experience: This place is great. I've been going to Elise for about 8 months now and I'm completely happy with my hair cuts. I can strongly recommend her for men's short hair cuts. My only complaint is the weird, 24-hour, rolling scheduling window. Maybe there's a reason for it but it would be nice to book a week in advance like every other place I've been to before this. If it wasn't for the scheduling, it's an easy 5/5.

Fantastic experience: Today was my first time getting my haircut and Jimmys. Chyanna did a great job on my hair. I was nervous because my hair can be difficult to cut (I’m biracial). I was really impressed with the quality and the time and precision she had cutting my hair. Thanks Chyanna, I’ll definitely be back!:)

Negative experience: This place was great when it first opened but it's not the same. The last few visits I left with a sour taste. It felt like I was a part of a production line and was rushed out with a mediocre hair cut.

Fantastic experience: Marina is wonderful with our son! She gave him a fresh cut before Christmas and always makes him look clean and super stylish. She is friendly and does great with a wiggly/talkative 6 year old. Thanks!
