Negative experience: I had a great haircut here once, but the second time I went, a bigger man was the only available barber. I agreed to let him cut my hair and beard. He used a shaver instead of a razor, which must have been dirty, because my beard is now covered in pimples and cuts. The last time I went, the barber used wax and a blade for a proper close shave, but this time he used a cheap, dirty shaver, which ruined my face. Also after reading this I’m remembering that he didn’t apply any kind of aftershave and was eating a salad while cutting my hair while on the phone with someone.

With each pass of the clippers he paused, tilted my head, and checked the fade from every angle, adjusting the blend until it melted flawlessly into the length on top. When he moved on to my beard, the same meticulous rhythm continued: line, inspect, refine. Even the threading—something I didn’t do before—felt effortless; Bassam had a way of making the tiny snaps almost relaxing. Between snips we chatted about everything, from sports to family and business. The conversation never felt forced; it was more like catching up with a friend who just happens to wield a pair of scissors with surgical skill. By the time he whisked away the final stray hairs and handed me the mirror, I barely recognized the guy staring back—sharp fade, neat beard, clean brows, and somehow a little more confidence. I walked in looking for a trim and walked out feeling like I’d upgraded my entire week. for the last few months I have been getting my haircut and beard trim with Bassam and Shamal, and always a really good experience.
