Blue Star Barbershop

Negative experience: They give decent haircuts, IF you can keep your appointment. After getting monthly haircuts for roughly 9 years from Blue Star, they've recently struggled to honor appointments. I scheduled an appointment for Nov 5th, at 4:00 PM and upon arriving at their Polaris location, I was informed that they couldn't honor my appointment due to staffing. I understand that these things sometimes happen, although I would have appreciated a phone call rather than having to drive across town to be told. After receiving a few months of superior haircuts from their competitor, Redline Barbershop, I gave them another shot and scheduled an appointment for 10:00 AM on Sunday 2/22. 40 minutes before my appointment, I received call stating that they would have to either cancel or reschedule due to staffing. This issue happening once is understandable. This same issue happening twice in a row to the same customer is inexcusable.

Regardless of who cuts my hair, it’s a great cut from a very friendly staff. I use their online scheduling system to get appointments. Sometimes the schedules are not posted but just check the next day.

Fantastic experience: Old guy with medium length hair, always happy with a sterling cut! Had to make an appointment with new stylist this week, results exactly the same! How do you say "No worries!"

Negative experience: I'm a busy guy and I expect my appointment to be on time. That is why I made the appointment. And I believe that is why you only take appointments. Mine was for 5:15 pm on Friday, 8/1, with Kylie L. I arrived at 5pm and sat unnoticed until 5:35pm. She did not communicated to me that she was running behind, or seemed to care. At 20 minutes past my appt time she was still working on her current clients neck line. So, I went to the front desk, asked for a refund, and left. I had another bad experience on 4/18 (a Saturday) at 9:15am. The barber just didn't come to work that day. This place used to be good, but has gone down hill. Yes, the prices have gone up, but that is not what drove me to find another place. I really hate to move on, I've been a regular customer for years, but it is what it is. If you don't respect my time and have poor service, I will take my business elsewhere.

Negative experience: Made an appointment at Grandview yards and was canceled on. The following week made an appointment at Polaris and the same thing occurred. I have have been a long time customer and am looking forward to a new barber.

Negative experience: This has been the only place I have gotten my hair cut for the past 6 or 7 years. Here in the last month or so they increased their base price again by another ~18%! Second increase of that size in the past 2-3 years. Not to mention, the massage is no longer included as of a year or so ago. Despite these factors, I remained loyal and I booked another appointment - I had something unexpected/urgent come up and I missed the appointment and wasn’t able to call. I was charged full price, which I guess is warned when booking, however I called the next morning shortly after opening and calmly explained the situation and apologized. I asked for the charge to be applied to a future cut, was told no. Asked for a refund, told no. In 6-7 years this has happened once or twice before and I’ve always gotten a courtesy call/voicemail from the shop, giving me an out / a little grace and an opportunity to reschedule, and I have never been charged. Not this time. When I consider the latest price increase combined with fewer included services and this recent disappointing interaction, I can’t recommend this shop anymore. I have decided to find a new shop.

Fantastic experience: Dezare is such a personable, likable person. She is a great calming presence and seems to know exactly what to do to my hair even if I don’t know how to express what I want. She does such wonderful work and I always feel very happy after I leave. The experience was perfect. Given this, I was very sorry to see you raise your prices so much.

Fantastic experience: A friend recommended this place to me. I’ve brought my boys here a few times, always seeing the same stylist. Today, there was a scheduling mix-up and they ended up with a different barber. I was initially hesitant but it actually turned out great. Now we have two barbers we’re happy with, so we might just start taking the first available appointment since everyone seems to do a great job.

Negative experience: My son booked an appointment on 15th March with Kylie and we had terrible experience.He is kept on growing his hair for an year and he just want to trim it and the person is too proud to do what is requested and done almost buzz cut. Just understand the pain of 1 year waited to grow his hair and lost due to one person too proud to behave and do what was requested.If there is minus review we would like to proud and never ever recommend anyone to go

Fantastic experience: Dom is the man to go to at Bluestar Polaris. Every fade or beard trim ends up better than the previous. I specifically book with him when I need to look my best at a work conference or personal event. He’s cleaned me up for weddings, offsite and everything in between. Negative experience: Came in last week for a simple buzz cut. The woman cutting my hair didn’t speak a word of english to me the entire time and failed to follow any of the directions I gave her. At the end of the service when I was paying, on the screen it asked if I would like to leave a tip. I watched the woman who cut my hair, creep up behind me, and look over my shoulder to see what I left for a tip. I found that incredibly rude and unprofessional. Got home and later realized she missed multiple spots on my head leaving long patches throughout. We have had multiple bad experiences with this woman and is leaving a bad reputation with this company. I have received other haircuts from different barbers that’s left me with an amazing experience. But after this, I will not ever return to Blue star.

Negative experience: I made reservations using the any barber available. Which set me up with one at the time. During the time of the apartment I had to wait 20 Mins waiting for my Barber when other barbers were taking walk-ins and on phones. Other than that good atmosphere!

Negative experience: Worst haircut of my life. My “barber” didn’t speak any English. She followed no directions I gave her. The person checking me out never asked how my cut was. Do not go here Additionally, received a call on the way home accusing me of not paying(I did). Confirmed I paid cash and the rep understood. How do you not ask the other employees if I paid before calling to tell me I stole? Would really like a manager to contact me

Fantastic experience: Simply stated, Emily is the best stylist that has cut my hair, ever. Each visit she adapts to subtle changes I discuss with her. I now just sit in her chair and let her work her magic.
