Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to Retaj Barber for a while now and honestly one of the best barbers in Wollongong. The cuts are always clean and precise — especially the fades, you can tell the barber really knows his craft. The vibe in the shop is great too. Very welcoming, Arabic-speaking friendly, and always a good laugh while you’re getting your haircut. Makes the whole experience even better. Highly recommend if you’re after a quality cut and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere

Negative experience: The barber shop was listed as open on Google and had an “Open” sign displayed, but the door was locked from the inside. I waited for about 15 minutes. A man appeared inside the shop but was eating and didn’t acknowledge me or open the door even after another 10 minutes. Very disappointing.

Negative experience: Google opening hours: 10am on Saturday Sign on door: 10am on Saturday Sign on window: 10am on Saturday Imagine my surprise showing up at 10.20 to see them closed. Guessing it's hard for Saturday to be your busiest day like most other barbers if you can't even open on time.

Fantastic experience: I've been very impressed with this hairdresser’s skill, experience, and talent —he clearly knows his craft. The liquid he uses to wet the hair is always fresh and has a pleasant, clean scent, which adds to the experience. The salon itself is spotless, and all tools, including combs, are well-maintained and hygienic. The floor is also regularly cleaned and also spotless. It's definitely worth taking the time to talk with him and explain in details exactly what kind of cut you're after — he listens and once he understands what exactly are you sfter, he delivers great results.

Fantastic experience: Hands down the best haircut I’ve had in years, the fade is perfect and the barber really knows his craft. Only downside is the parking,, but that expected on Crown St, but the quality of the cut makes it absolutely worth it.

Negative experience: If you say your open untill 5:00p.m stay open past 4:00pm or change your hours. Wasted trip 40 minute walk there and 40 min walk back. Owner was still in the shop telling me to go away at 4:00 p.m I hope his business fails. And I'll make sure everyone I know never uses this barbers.

Fantastic experience: I would walk 500 miles to get my hair cut by an experienced Syrian, and Mr Retaj (I assume) is no exception. Instead, he personifies why, in Syria, unless you get placed in the top class of barbers, you don't get certified (according to him). He shared his philosophy of taking the time to produce quality, always at affordable rates, and the results were spot on. This man knows his trade. Could not recommend highly enough. Best affordable barber in central Wollongong.
