Experiencia negativa: Let me say first I’m not writing this review for the shop but for a specific “barber” JAMES. I scheduled an appointment using their website page for a Head Shave and Beard Trim. Total $65 and estimated I.5 hours. My appointment was with James. James comes out very animated saying hello to the whole room loudly then asking me if I had an appt. I had already spoke to who I believe was the owner (after the conflict) and he confirmed my appt. James asked me what I wanted and told him. He proceeded to trim what little hair I have with a trimmer. I was assuming he was just knocking it down because I hadn’t shaved in a week. After that he starts running an electric foil shaver over my head. I stopped him and said I was expecting a hot towel, straight razor head shave. He looks at me and said I should have told him before he started. I told him “I have a commercial foil shaver at home and could do that myself”. Hindsight I should have got up then. If anyone gets straight razor shaves, you do it for the relaxation as much as anything. So he continues with small talk. He must of asked where I was from 3 or 4 times and kept repeating questions. It was like talking to one of the voice activation systems where you constantly have to repeat yourself. Keep in mind I was only getting a head shave and beard trim which I also had to repeat multiple times. I told him to leave my mustache alone and not to cut any length off. If he saw some wayward hairs is cool and just trim it to the bottom of my lip. So when he gets to my mustache I feel him going in and literally grab his hand and ask… Your not cutting any length off are you? And he says, No. I let him continue and then it happens. Dude hit high (military) on my lip and I know. I grabbed his hand again and said STOP loudly. I asked for a hand mirror and realized he just turned my Sam Elliott into a Timothee Chalamet mustache. Needless to say I’m not a Chalamet kind of guy (not pretty haha) . I can get over a botched mustache trim, it’s just hair but it’s James response that was amazing. He got super angry at me for being upset. It was like I never gave him any direction at all. He got so pissed the owner had to get him to step off like three or four times. I think if it hadn’t been for the owner he wanted to make it physical. Acting like a 5 year old, every time his boss told him to be quiet he would say…”Well he started it”! I certainly matched his energy only because he kept escalating the situation. If anyone has ever dealt with burger sugar addiction this dude was a poster child. DO NOT GO TO JAMES!

I stumbled upon this gem of a place by accident, and immediately was drawn in by the genuine NY vibes set by the owner. I also, by chance, lucked out meeting James. I never thought I'd find a barber that could cut the way NY does, but I really got lucky here. James has the innate ability to take exactly what you tell him and execute it better than you could have expected with his clippers and shears. Every cut seems to be better than the last. James even has the skill to cut me well enough to grow in and buy me some time before I have to come back, but I don't ever want to wait! Not even to mention the niceties like a shoulder massage machine over a hot towel at the end. Even after I moved out of Scottsdale, I still travel 30+ minutes back to get in James' chair. Grateful for this spot. Hit up my man James, or any of the skilled staff there! When you read Who's Next Barber Shop, your answer should be "I am!"

Experiencia negativa: I’ve been to this barbershop a few times and the haircuts were generally fine. Yesterday, however, I had a terrible experience with the owner, Alex, that I feel obligated to share. Alex seemed distracted and lazy during my appointment. I paid $40 for the cut and even left a $7 tip before realizing the extent of the damage. Once I got home and showered, I saw that the top of my head was hacked unevenly, with random chopped sections that were impossible to style. It was a rushed, careless job, and it felt either intentional or like he simply didn’t care enough to do his job properly. Even worse, Alex cut the back of my neck with the straight razor and let me walk out with blood dripping onto my shirt. It was something he had to have seen when finishing the shave but chose to ignore. I ended up having to go to another barbershop the next day and spend more money just to fix the mess he left behind. Given the owner's lack of professionalism, attention to detail, and basic decency, I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Experiencia negativa: Disappointing Experience - Beware of Hidden Charges! I visited this barbershop with high hopes as I needed some help before an important event but left feeling utterly disappointed and taken advantage of. I clearly communicated that I only needed a quick clean around the sides, as I planned to return for a full haircut the next day. However, the barber saw an opportunity to upsell me, suggesting a fade refresher would cost like a full haircut, but agreeing to quickly trim around my ears and neck. I agreed assuming it would be a symbolic fee and was ready to tip her. To my dismay, I was charged a whopping $20 for a mere minute of trimming around my ears and neck (if I knew it would cost that much, I would have just agreed for a full haircut right there.) This unprofessional and opportunistic behavior left a sour taste in my mouth. Beware of hidden charges and think twice before trusting this establishment.
